From all the vids I’ve watched, it feels to me like Virgin treats their staff like people, unlike the other companies. For that alone, I’d 100% choose Virgin.
@@lourdesmotahernandez9466 Hollaaa, it's a very calm interview, that he or she wants to know: what do you do to keep the ambience safe or with security rules; why do you wnat to work on rccl; what could you do if any child don't want to be on the advebture ocean; what do you talk/explain with difficult parents; share your room with people from different cultures; ... Questions like this
I'm glad to share that I got my C1/D visa approved so I will be joining CCL on May 9th. Your vids are really helpful and great thing to view while I wait to embark.
Hi Sonia, Hope you well and happy to heard that you will join the ship on next 2 days. I got selected for CCL as well, if you dont mind if I can get your contact?
Well stay tuned. I’m 51 and received a verbal offer for bartender position on Royal Caribbean. Just waiting on my passport so it might be a couple months or so until I start but I’m considering doing YT for this reason/demographic.
Well said, Lucy. I was a Royal Caribbean musician from the Philippines back then. And I am still loyal to Royal. I love the company (it's my first one; Celebrity Cruises, 2nd), however, at present, I am into teaching at a University in my hometown which I now prefer coz it is closer to home and family. My credentials from Royal helped me get into this University's Conservatory of Music program. I am so grateful to Royal Caribbean. I still miss working onboard.
@@BarbaraAnnLittle you’re most welcome. I just googled it. I myself from sales background. I used to work as a chef then I switched my career to sales. 9 years I’ve worked for brands like Audi, Porsche and Mercedes Benz. So with this sales experience I’m planning to rejoin the cruise ship in sales.
This channel gives a nice insight into what life on a cruise ship is like. I find these videos interesting even though I have no plans to take a cruise or work on a cruise ship.
Thank you for these videos. I enjoy the information about being crew on cruise ships. I am a quantity surveyor well past retirement age who enjoys the occasional cruise, so I will never work on one….and probably wouldn’t be any good if I did! I like Royal Caribbean and have done three cruises around New Zealand and the pacific. I find that the crew, without exception, try to make the cruise as enjoyable as possible. I think you guys work very hard. All the best from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Excellent comparison between the two cruise lines and you have just convinced me to take my wife on a Virgin Voyages cruise in the future. We have been on over 20+ cruises and tries a lot of different cruise lines out. Obviously Virgin Voyages is doing something quite different and it's time to check them out. Thanks!
Great video as usual, As a passenger rather than crew and I know your content is often crew based but sometimes things that cover passengers also and I appreciate the work.
Wowwwwwww I love that virgin doesn’t discriminate 🙏🏼 And wholeheartedly agree with you about the rank nonsense and separation. I’ve been considering working for a cruise line such as Royal, but it has bothered me to notice how people are being separated by rank in so many ways 😢
I have been working for Royal Caribbean for 14 complete years now, Have seen most of the places, still pending places to go on my bucket list. Well if you are looking for discovering the world Royal is the best to work with, if you are looking for a good contract I feel Virgin is the best, after the Pandemic things have become expensive all around the world and we do need $$$$$
How does the medical department work? I'm starting my first contract as a medical administrator on CCL next month and i don't know a lot about how the medical department works
This was a very nice video. I applied to Royal Carribean before seeing this video. I like interacting with people but at the end of the day,I like having my own space. Therefore wished I am selected that I would off have my own cabin, but I easily adapt.
We’ve only cruise Norwegian and RC, like both but prefer Norwegian. Norwegian has smaller more personal ships. RC giant ships are packed with lots of people. More people more problems.
Loved that comment about a veg in the staff mess :p ... All your comments about the Virgin brand culture -- inclusive, relaxed and open -- are reasons I'm a big fan of Branson and all his businesses that I know anything about :) ... Thanks for sharing!
I applied for lifeguard Staff on rcc. They did a mass hiring project where I'm from. I have an online interview tomorrow. I hope I do well. But I also wish I'd applied for vv as well. Cuz. I get the point on the mess. And I feel the same.
I do enjoy watching your videos although they sometimes get to be a little too "inside baseball" for me, who is never going to be a crew member. You are always soliciting feedback so here goes. My wife & I have done 6 cruises (more than you needed to know) four with my high school classmates (from LONG ago), one on our own & one with our entire family (Bermuda from Boston). 3 Royal Caribbean, 2 Princess & one Norwegian. Not sure if they were different because of the lines or because of the "personalities" of the individual ships. (I assume individual ships have "personalities". Yes? Also, I admire your frankness but hope your commentary doesn't inhibit your getting future assignments. I enjoy your attitude & the insights you share on what "cruising as crew" is really like. Cheers!
I enjoyed your daily videos. I know that you can't do it all the time but it was cool. I'm recovering a major surgery so I have a lot of free time. Lol
This is so interesting. I just started watching your videos, so I've been switching back and forth between videos created in 2020 and videos created 2022. What happened to your adorable freckles?! I feel like the cruise lines should be obligated to provide healthy options to all their employees!! You're making me want to take a Virgin cruise!
We Sailed Virgin over Thansgiving and a few Year ago We were on Disney .... So We look at it as ''' ONE and DONE ''' Both were nice but not that nice ... Doing Our 52 Cruise next week so back to the Tried and True ....
Hello Lucy. Since 2009 when the Royal launched the Oasis class of ships there has been 1 mess for all ranks. Your comparing your experience of an older ships not company. Also Royal ships since 1995 have a Crew Mess and a Staff & Officers Mess. Other companies have the three messes you mention.
Why would RC or VV be the “two most likely companies you would consider” ? Genuine question, why wouldn’t people want to work on Cunard for example? And not sure RC is the “leader” ??
Great video as usual, thank you! I got the chance to choose between five different companies (P&O UK, DCL, RCCL, VV and Princess) for my first contract which will be starting soo (just completed the onboarding process) and at the end, even though I was leaning towards VV, I went for DCL at the moment and then, if I like it, if I want to make a career out of it, i will eventually transition to VV! Keep up the good work Lucy 😉
@@ytclaire2007 I applied to work in the Guest Services department as it is my job on land! I received LOE from all the companies (luckily) and it was the toughest decision ever
I hope you do great! We just got off the Dream last week, and had a discussion on the drive home that DCL still has all the extras that used to make the parks and resorts so magical. We’re converting to cruising DCL for our family vacations instead of WDW until World gets back to maintaining “the show” at a higher level again.
Hi Lucy, I remember previously you mentioned the food for crew was good but had room for improvement. Not sure if it was on Scarlet or Valient. This video seems like it’s better. Did it improve significantly? If so, how? :)
I saw a post in my newspapers about RC having 2000 jobs available to people in my country. I didn't even know about/consider working on a Cruise Ship before seeing that post. I applied but I don't have any experience in the Hospitality industry but maybe I'll get in.
Virgin isn't actually more expensive. The price includes basic soft drinks, wifi and gratuities, which usually aren't included in the prices of a cruise. Once you've added those in, it works out roughly the same (although of course some companies are less expensive than others, which their cruises do reflect imo). I've just sailed for 12 nights on Valiant Lady and had a fantastic time. I can't wait to return. So yes, imo, it's definitely worth it if you're up for relaxed fun rather than tradition and ceremony.
I worked for both Princess and Cunard as Cruise Staff and have been interested in VV since it was announced. Is there a similar position with VV and is it worth looking into??
Hey Lucy! I'm heading out on Valiant from BCN in Sept (as a Sailor!), and as it is a 7 nighter round the Med, there are no sea days, so I'm not sure if you know. Could this mean: 1. Retail will only be open a few hours each evening. 2. The night entertainment ends earlier as each following day is a port day? i.e sailors will want to be up earlier the next day therefore nights are shorter?
Ahoy lucy! , i'm planning to apply to virgin voyages as a bartender and i was working in the same role before in AIDA cruise ships, my question is, is it allowed for the crew that has tattoo and dreadlock hairstyle to join aboard? Thank you and have a wonderful day.
Hi Lucy thanks for your informative vids. I'm joining cunard Queen Victoria next month. Retail associate for Hardings after 10yrs away. Do you know if there are also shared cabins?
Hi. Love this video ❤ How can you compare RCI/ celebrity cruises vs Carnivals princess cruises ? I got doctor on board position. Salary is higher in princess. But i like RCI to join ? Plz share ur thoughts. Highly valuable to decide on my first contract.Thank you
Hi Lucy am trying my best to find a job in RC but I can’t find a way to do it and I have registered in RC still no jobs am a hairdresser and if you like lat me know how to gat in to RC or virgin and have never work in cruise before love the videos you do thanks you for information 😀
Royal discriminates on nationalistic bases. They dont hire certain nationalities and Royal tells thst directly to applicants, "you can apply but you wont get a job because of your nationality".
