Yeah I was diagnosed at 27. I didn’t know what it was, no one in my family had it (including type 2), and the docs were like “we don’t know why you got it as an adult...sorry fella”. I have led an extremely busy fast paced work life for my 20 or so adult life (39 now). That led to an attitude of “I don’t have time for this”. A1C levels were 12’s for about the first 4-5 years which I have incurred diabetes side effects during that ignorant period, but now I’m commonly hitting 6-7’s the past few years which is extremely good for “me”! 🥳 *TOTALLY agree that each person is responsible for being their own hero....no one is coming to save you (..or control what you put in your mouth, bolus timings, or exercise habits). I carefully enjoyed your video being a diabetic for the past 59 years this was very in lightning. The feelings that you expressed was exactly what I went through for 40 years. Embarrassment shame hiding my insolence arranges not wanting anyone to know today is a whole new ball game. I wear my pump, proudly and love it when people ask me about it. Newly diagnosed diabetics, will find this video very helpful thank you.
The number one thing I would’ve loved to have known then was that I deserve NORMAL blood sugars!!! I didn’t have to be on the roller coaster! Dr Bernstein is the education I wish I had then! It took too too many years to get here where I am now!
@Al Coholic three years for me! Absolutely sustainable! Wouldn’t go back to the roller coaster or the SAD, vegan or vegetarian diet for the world!!! I now have NORMAL blood sugar not just “good for a diabetic”! Life changing and life saving!!!!
