You don't see men wearing shorts because they need to cover legs when they pray and because people are used to the hot weather. So shorts are not related to summer in our minds. But still it has been always legal to wear shorts.
No thats not fully correct . Now there are new laws u can not enter restaurant , train station or even get to the airport with short . It is just forbidden
Dutch Van Der Linde those can work but it’s just not practical because sometimes those shorts can get pulled up when you knell down and you have to pray 5 times a day
Many people who say it with a z aren't really incorrect, it the correct pronunciation they grew up. So maybe it isn't correct standard english, but in real life people only use perfect standard english very rarely in rather niche situations. If you went to england every town and county would have its own correct way to say muslim.
Cultural sensitivity and following local laws are definitely important! This will certainly be useful and even educational for many viewers. Keep up the great content 🙌💯🗺🇸🇦
@grian realy? Did you even been in a desert befor? So in the winter the wind become so quick and the normal in the desert nothing can stop or hamper the wind Im a saudi and i my answer is the winter is so cold and more coldest in the colder night

Another tip for tourists is don't call it a day when the sun sets. A thing that many people don't know is the night life in major cities is amazing and a lot of people go out and have fun at night because of the hot weather in SA. All the shops, restaurants, and malls open until the midnight and as a local saudi I prefer going at night because of the weather and because There's just one prayer time unlike the daylight.

I'm an expat in Saudi, before I came here I wasn't sure what it would be like, I was concerned that it would be strict and humourless. I have lived in Riyadh and currently I am in Jubail but have also visited Hail and Hateefah, In the 6 months since I arrived, I have met some incredible people, my Arabic is improving very slowly, and the people are very warm, very friendly (a high percentage are under 30 years of age), they have a very well developed sense of humour, and most are very well educated. I think for a long time Saudi has been very shy and reserved on the world stage, and is now emerging and the world will be amazed at the richness of the culture, the importance of family, being respectful and how amazing the people are. The kingdom is so different from the way it is reported in a lot of the western media. I feel incredibly fortunate to have visited and enjoyed the hospitality. Even during the Covid pandemic, I have felt safe and I would recommend you visit if you get the chance. So ignore the negative press, it is a rich country in every sense of the word.
Welcome Mike among your brothers. Christians are the closest religions to Islam. Britain and America are the closest and most welcome allies. I advise you to buy the Holy Quran, its teachings are the same as those of Jesus .. Just as Saudi Arabia is wronged by the Western media, so is Islam. Abdullah The teachings of the Koran are nothing like the teachings of Jesus. You have clearly never read the Gospel. Koran: "Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them". Jesus: "Love your enemies". Koran: Strike at their necks. Jesus: He who lives by the sword will perish by the sword. Mommad killed people. Jesus healed people. They are opposite. Night and day.

So far the most realistic and honest “Things not to do in Saudi”... It would’ve been perfect if you kinda clarified one thing, waring shorts... We obviously have and wear short but it literally like literally depends on where you’re going... If you were in a crowded/ public place like a mall, airport, I wouldn’t recommend wearing them (+ banks and governmental places)... but if you are going to a restaurant, barbershop, gym, supermarket, hookah lounge, something that isn’t kinda open i’d say go for it... When I was back home I used to wear shorts and have a pair of jeans in the back of my car haha.
i used to live there. i wore shorts everywhere. maybe not do it in riyadh, but jeddah or al-dammam are VERY liberal. theres even women walking around without burqas and stuff
I don’t know why always people says that Riyadh isn’t “ Liberal“, actually it is the most liberal city in SA, almost all large cities in Saudi are “liberal”, Niqab (not birqa) actually depends on person’s believe, it has nothing to do with extremeness or liberality, there’s a lot of “ways” to practice islam like in Christianity there’s Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic, most of saudis (especially who live in middle regions) believe in Niqab, so it doesn’t has to represent the extremeness of a person, I hope I clarified some points
By “Liberal” here I meant “the acceptance of differences” not “believe in differences”, so in Riyadh (and most large cities) for example the people there are facing a lot of differences in there routine life so they became more acceptable to them, but in other small cities, like my city Al-Qassim (it is beautiful city by the way you should visit us if you can ☺️♥️ ) we don’t face a lot of differences so if we see some woman not wearing an Abaya (long black dress) we will feel strange and confused because we don’t see that normally, like if you see a woman wearing Abaya in your country, it all just about adjusting 🤷🏻♂️, Saudis in general are very educated people and we know about the differences in the other countries, we almost in every summer vacation we travel outside in Europe or Asia so we faced a lot of cultural differences, Saudi people themselves are very open minded, but the government was closed, even for this who not traveled they have a good access to the Internet and social media so they watched and faced a lot of cultural differences and stuff
@Marco Chiacchiari I think it is the same way you feel about the north 🤷♂️ (interesting btw because the most liberal cities in SA is located in the west), at least for me and my family and my friends, it's a bit hard to acclimate with these changes which happens in Saudi Arabia right now, even Riyadh wasn't the same before these changes, I don't say that we were living in a bad situation before these changes but I really miss the way that SA was, it was more simpler and every thing was familiar to me, nothing big really change in my city just few things (like seeing a lot of women drive cars which I really loved it), but in Riyadh, it became a whole different city, and when I travel there for visiting family or finishing some business I really feel like I'm in another country and feel not belonging and not home 🙄
Saudi Arabia is like my country, Serbia, and a lot of countries - they are really nice but because of American propaganda, people have wrong pictures of our countries...
Mecca is just a place to do umrah and hajj and it's the only place in the world for 1.7 billion Muslims to do the obligations. So it's too crowded most of the time. You can go if you're a muslim seeking to perform the rituals but if you're not, avoid it. You'll do justice to the people who need space.
I was born in Saudi Arabia and I lived there for ten years and my family lived there for 25 years (some of them even 50) i am indian and i am a muslim , once when i was in kindergarten i was in a toy store with my mom and i was too fascinated by the toys and wasn't leaving the store my mom said c'mon lets go but i did not listen to her .So what she said after was that she is gonna leave me if i am not gonna come she thought that i wold come but i did not so i panicked and just left the store crying and trying to find my mom but in reality she was just outside the store i did not see her she kept calling my name but did not here that so then i got lost then a police officer saw in the mall crying all alone and he said where my mom was and i did not know and i was hungry as heck so he took me to a store and left me there for probably about 6 mins with an employee , the employee saw that i was crying and he gave me a bottle of fruit juce and chips for FREE but i refused to take it so he was like ok then don't take it then the police officer came with idk maybe about 4 more other police officers they took me to the office and shut down all the gates to the mall so that no one kidnaps me . then they secured the way a few more officers came surrounded me and took me took me back to my mom ..... like there were about TEN officers like WHAT TEN to this day i think that that was a bit over the top . THE way they took me to my mom was like one was behind me one was in front of me the was there and i felt like a special person at that moment like wut was that for a 5 year old
lmao, it's okay to wair shorts, most of us don't cuz we can't pray with short so if we are in the city and the athan came out, we need to pray but we can't with short so it's just for pray in time and doesn't delay it for late.

This is so fake, in Saudi Arabia and other countries women can’t walk around any place without being entirely covered, and even in more relaxing Muslim countries, even though they’re theoretically free to choose, they’re extremely discouraged by population to be that way.... hijab is a prision to most women
I spent 5 weeks in Saudi last year working on a touring magic show. First time it had been to Saudi and the people seemed to love it. And I loved the people. As you said, all very friendly. I felt like a celebrity sometimes in the streets as people seemed to lose their minds seeing my white ass walking by lmao. But yeah, it was a great experience, and best of all I felt safe the whole time I was there, safe being in public and safe being around authorities.
When i was visiting there i saw a lot of white Saudi people . Years ago, normally there’s no tourists coming around and maybe that’s reason why they reacted like that.
@Michael Thomsen it was a pagan place of worship before, until abraham and ishmael destroyed the statues and then build ka'bah in its place, now it is only for the worship of one God, nothing pagan here, and no pigeons shitting. Ive been there and I'm sure I know better than you.

Man, it's very good to see video from someone like you who is young and travelling throughout the world. Because today you burst many myths I had about Saudi Arabia. I believed that Saudi people don't actually like non-muslims and they cut hands for small offences if non-muslim does any crime, but turns out that they are some of the most friendly people in the world and things aren't always what big western media houses show us. I'd definately love to visit the nation of Saudi Arabia once the situation of covid19 pandemic settles down and everything is back to normal. To all Saudi Arabian people watching this video and reading my comments, "Asslam valeikum, inshallah we'll pass through these bad times too"... Stay loved, stay connected and keep travelling my friend Jacob...

@@KO-gu4hc really everyone should see for themselves before judging any country. And as far as my concerns go, these harsh laws keep criminals in check and crime ratio to almost zero. Unlike western countries who treat criminals with so much love and humanity that they keep on committing crimes.

I think because of the different beliefs between the two religions, Christian's going to Makkah wouldn't really be of any benefit to them. Muslims go there to do as many acts of worship as possible because it is a very very blessed city. Although Christians and other non-Muslim people are welcome in all other parts of Saudi Arabia, having Makkah inaccessible to them shouldn't be too big a deal. It's not a fun place to tour, there's alot of crowds, continuous movement and so many people actively engaged with their hearts, bodies and souls in their worship. It might only be enjoyable to Muslims because of their knowledge of how blessed the city is. Hope this helps soften any hard feelings❤
personally, as a muslim, i don’t think the vatican would be a really cool place to go. i would not feel any love or spiritual connection because if i wants to do that i’d go to mecca. i would rather have devout christians go to their holy sites without someone who isn’t christian taking up space. this feeling should be reciprocated with christians toward entering mecca.
Because God Almighty forbade it in the Holy Qur’an and this is a divine decision and not a political decision We do not mind the closure of the Vatican entirely to non-Christians. We have no problem with that
I ran away when I was a teenager. Horrible place to live in if you’re a girl. Honestly I don’t know why anyone would want to visit, it’s not even that interesting of a place. Dessert, beach, food. That’s it.
Sister, I could understand why you ran away. Restricted life could be hard on teenagers not only in Saudi Arabia but also in other muslim countries. Regarding Saudi Arabia as tourist attractions, well not all people like city life, night life, music scene, cuisine, shopping complexes, high and big buildings. There are people who like to experience rural life, natural landscapes, gardens and parks, etc. I may not enjoy the desert, but I would love to visit Saudi Arabia's beaches, highlands, valleys, and rural villages.
Hello, Jacob!☘️ That was incredibly interesting for me to find out more things about Saudi Arabia, thank you for another wonderful video! The advice not to wear shorts even in very hot weather may seem strange to a tourist, but I think the advice is very important: tourists wouldn't like to show disrespect to the locals, so, they have to know what can make them look disrespectful. What is common in one country can look impolite in another, it is very important to respect the traditions of the locals. Jacob, I think you are too friendly to have problems with the police😄 That's wonderful👍

Happy to see an educational video about Saudi that answers a lot of uneducated peoples question's on common misconceptions. I will definitely share this video to counteract the western judgmental reports on Saudi.
I send my love and peace to all of my Arabs brothers and sisters, especially Saudis from Iran❤ love is wise and hatred is foolish. If we want to live together and not die together, we need to respect our differences. All Europeans have come together and have made a powerful Union without saying "oh, you're a catholic, you're a protestant, you're a French or you're a German", but we muslims are still fighting over our minor differences. There's nothing more humane and Islamic than to create friendship and love among people. I'm Persian and honestly speaking I love all Arabs. May peace be with you❤❤🙏
We love and respect the Iranian people. What we do not understand is the Iranian government. Our problems are with it, not with the people! Arming gangs and spending on them with weapons to kill us! Great Iranian greetings and peace be upon you

The problem with this country is I could never get my girlfriend to go. It is hard to convince someone to go somewhere where she would feel like second class citizens. My dad went to Dubai witch is close, and his girlfriend had to get a separate room as they were not married. IDK if he needed to or the people he was doing business with booked the rooms.
A second class citizen is a bit of an over fetched statement women are not a second class citizens in my country as a matter of fact you can say they have more rights than us men do
