Another good investment is mason jars. All different sizes. Non toxic, and clear so easy to see whats inside, and lasts a long time. Great topic!

I will say I completely agree with the premise of this video. As you transition from a "poverty mindset" to an "abundance mindset", an essential part of preserving wealth is making purchases based on longevity rather than just focusing on what the items cost. Unfortunately, we do live in an age where many of these items are either built not to last, or built in a way that makes repairing very difficult and sometimes even more expensive than replacement. For me, I do spend a bit more money on certain items these days, but if the item is the type that's not easily repaired or maintained, it's definitely not worth paying the premium in my limited experience.
@TommyBryson
@TommyBryson 8 месяцев назад
What are some items, that you are referring to?
@sojourneroftheland
@sojourneroftheland 8 месяцев назад
So true! I remember my Dad had a flood in his home due to faulty roofing. His insurance was going to cover everything and we was going to get all brand new electronics. Back then the VCR he had was the newest hottest item and cost nearly $1000. He wanted a newer less clunky one but seeing as it was built so well it survived the flood. Didnt he soak that thing into a bathtub full of water for the insurance replacement lol...and it STILL survived! I myself have been through at least 3 or 4 dvd players since we made the mistake of trading "up" for a smaller more compact one. They definitely dont make things like they used to...its because in not too long we will "own nothing and be happy". The idea is to make electronics so crappy that businesses will be incentivized to make better quality items when you rent the items monthly. They'll build it all better when we dont actually own it.

@@TommyBrysonThere are many examples, but I'll take a point from your video. It is true that MacBooks are traditionally one of the best laptops to buy if you want something to last for a long time. However, newer iterations of the MacBook actually have terrible repairability scores because the individual parts are not as easily replaced/repaired as before because of the way the hardware has been engineered. So even though the product itself is much better than its ever been and arguably better hardware than any other laptop on the market today, it simply can't have the lifespan of a MacBook from 10 years ago, because it's simply not as repairable

There are 2 different types of people - those who keep things until they die and those who switch out every year! I purchased my house in 1998 for £57k. Now worth £400k and my plan is to buy a new home cash. I have had about 4 mobile phones in my whole life and each of them literally died. I have owned 3 washing machines. 2 fridge freezers. Each car I have kept until they were a laughing stock 😅. I now need to do some updates around my home but they are not urgent. I fitted decent quality kitchen and bathroom back in 1997.

@@TommyBryson Funny story. I used to pass a man on the way to work every morning. He looked homeless. He sat there every day, and fed pigeons. He had a hat I often threw change into (as did other people). One day I decided to speak with him telling him "Jesus loves you" etc...we had a good long conversation. I came to find out he wasnt homeless at all, and had quite a bit of money and a nice apartment etc. I asked him why he was out there everyday. He said it was because he enjoyed feeding the pigeons. He wasnt going to refuse free cash. He never actually asked for it 🙄 Cant judge a book by its cover lol.

So I disagree with a few things. The house thing. I am 50 yrs old and I have never known anyone to buy a house and sell and move every 5-6 years. Next electronics, it’s always changing and updating. Phones and computers aren’t lasting forever. They will be outdated quick. A car. There is no way I would own a car for 30-40 years. Let me rephrase that. It depends on the car. Not doing a Corolla. It has to be a classic. For example I own a 1987 El Camino. But I also have another vehicle that’s a daily driver. I have watched a few of your videos and I do enjoy the info. But this one just gives me poor person vibes. Like this is what poor or lower income people think like

I agree with everything you said except Windows laptops not lasting the average Bestbuy consumer laptop does not last. However, if you purchase Lenovo or Dell business class they will last for ten plus years.

Good video Tommy, thank you. I have almost 3,000 saved up for a car. I was thinking of saving up, like 15,000, and getting like a Camry or a Corola, or something. Then try to design a maintenance schedule with dates. It's a little tough, but I think I could do it. I am tempted to save up like 8K and finance the rest. But, that's not a good idea. Of course, I hope that I could find something for a lot less. Keep going Tommy!

Hi Tommy, wives cost money. They don’t stick to the same pair of shoes for years and changes clothes, wigs, and bags as frequently as they buy the clothes to match them. What’s a guy to do? Please advise.
@TommyBryson
@TommyBryson 8 месяцев назад
That’s not true. Best advice is, get on the same page financially. It’s okay to spend on fun but not at the cost of being better off for the family. I think we men can be too extreme and women are very good with balance. So instead of being crazy and just saving everything its good to have someone to get you to enjoy things. its a balance

Don't get a Rav4 dude, get something nice. You work hard and you don't need to be scooting around town in a bum mobile. I get it, you want to show people how modest you are but my mom had a Rav4 while I was growing up and trust me it sucks. The thing has like 140 horsepower you can't even get up to speed on the freeway, it's very dangerous. Get a nice used Lexus at least or something with 6 cylinders like a 4runner the Rav4 lasts forever but it it also sucks forever too

500-1000$ shoes?! Nah. I understand the premise but I have good brand name running shoes I bought used for $7 (on sale for $3) that I will wear till they fall apart. The runners I had before I paid 99 dollars for them and they lasted me over 10 years. Cast iron all the way😊 will pass on to your childrens children! Plus when you learn how to use it properly it actually works just as well as a non stick pan thats toxic does. For backpacks mountain equipment co op is great quality bought for 7 bucks at value village and has lasted me over 7 years, plus who knows how long the person before me had it...its all in the zipper😏
