I swear, Ben Stillers part in this is small but hes so funny in this you are waiting for him to show up. I'm surprised minty didn't talk about it! This was not only a lot of peoples introduction to shooters character but also Ben Stiller! I mean shit, I just watched the video and cant even remember shooters real name but Ben Stiller blew the fuck up!
We have to be honest with ourselves! Happy Gilmore is truly a classic movie. The message is that, maybe we're applying our best skills into the wrong craft.
"Apparently, he also had a short fuse (look at that monster!)" rewatch the movie and you can see how bad of a shape Richard Kiel was in (as often happens to people with acromegaly in middle age). He's often either leaning on something or someone, and in the shot of him "running" is obviously just him pumping his arms back & forth
Christopher McDonald became so well known for the part he played in "Happy Gilmore" to the point that most fans, who met him afterwards, would usually call him "Shooter," or "Shooter McGavin" instead of by his real name. The actor admits to embracing this sentiment from fans and has no problem responding to people who call him by the character name as if it were his real name.
Shooter McGavin is a legend! This entire movie is hilarious and my wife and I quote it probably more often than we should. This will continue until we are both laid into the grave. "Here lies SnapperTrx" "HAPPY LOOK OUT AHHHH!"
I watched this with my Dad when I was in high school. When Happy misses his first swing on the Pro Tour and we got the edited expletive filled rant my Dad burst into hearty laughter which he rarely did. Side note; the Golf tour jacket issue got referenced in the film when Happy said; Green jacket, Gold Jacket. Who gives a shit?
Richard Kiel couldn't walk in that movie, bearly stand. You can see him holding on to someone or something in his scenes. It warms my heart to know they let him be in the movie, cause I think many people wouldn't consider him for the role. Kuddos on Sandler
Speaking of Kiel, did you ever hear he is part of the Mandela Effect? (False Memory) In Moonraker, when Jaws first meets his GF after the Gondola scene, everyone swears they remember her smiling and having braces, which makes sense, but if you watch the scene in question, she never had braces. Mind blown!
@@bluebear1985 lol funny you say that because I remember when Chuck Norris appeared on a show Bob Barker had when I was a kid. I think it was his 1st year as the US Karate champion but I can't remember the name of the show. He demonstrated a couple of moves. I didn't know that he gave Bob lessons though.
Hi Minty! Big fan of your work. I just wanted to applaud you for mentioning that you are on the autism spectrum. My son is as well, and I like to find public figures and entertainers for him to look up to. I also want to thank you for making a (mostly) family friendly video series that I can watch with him. He often feels like a lesser person for being on the spectrum, and I want him to see that he can have a fun, fulfilling life no matter what, maybe even host his own show on the Internet. It means more than you may realize, so I just wanted to give you a shout out. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for sharing these videos, I was raised by movie lovers, have 3 sisters and 2 brothers who are movie lovers, and married a movie lover! Watching your videos is like hanging out with my family, and I truly enjoy the effort you put in creating them. I'll be watching all ads to show my support, thanks!
Son, I worked in a tattoo parlor when this movie was new. We had a VCR and tons of tapes to keep people distracted. By a wide margin, this was the most popular movie, all walks of life loved Happy Gilmore.
That's crazy you mention that, because I was tattooing 10 years ago, and put in a TV and DVD player for the same purpose, but nobody ever wanted to use it. Everyone just wanted to chat, and some even referred to it as a "therapy session". The movies were better in the 90's though, so I'm sure Happy Gilmore would've gotten some play.
Love this movie its one of my all time favorites! When you work at a retail store that sells tv's this was playing on it as a demo so I saw it about 1000 times over a year. Still couldn't help myself but stop and watch it for a minute or two. Love to re watch every few years.
Probably my favorite Adam Sandler film growing up alongside The Wedding Singer and Billy Madison. Though of those three, I'd say this one has the best one-liners.
Here's an extra piece of interesting trivia, the animatronic clown from "Happy Gilmore" randomly appears in the background of "Ninja Turtles the Next Mutation", the live action Ninja Turtle show from the mid-nineties. The clown can be seen in multiple shots and its nose is still missing.
So TMNT and Happy Gilmore are in the same universe! I want to see a crossover! Happy and Casey team up to beat up the Foot with help from the boys! Make it happen!
My dad passed away before this came out. Could almost hear him laughing when I watch this movie. He would have loved Bob Barker getting pissed at Happy for not pulling his own weight in the pro/am. And the homeless caddy picking up change on the green would have cracked him up. He was a big fan of John Belushi and his type of antics. Miss you, Dad.
Very well done review. Love this movie. Julie Bowen adorable. Great scene with Happy Gilmore in his happy place with julie bringing him two beers in lingerie. Fight scene with Bob, a classic scene. A go to movie when one wants a bunch of laughs and will always put one in a happy frame of mind.
Carl Weathers acting was so good in this that I honestly never realized it was him despite him looking exactly like Carl Weathers with a salt and pepper beard. Genius performance though. I'm really good with faces too and he just seems like a different human being in HG.
Woke up to a new Minty video today (for Rocky 2), and here I am binge watching your great content AGAIN! 😂 So,, I just wanted to drop a line to say, "thanks Minty!"... I can wake up in a "not so great mood", and if I just sit here long enough to watch a few of your videos, I always wind-up smiling and feeling a bit better about everything in general! Thanks for the comedy, the obscure and little known information, and the nostalgia that an old fogie "Gen-Xer" like me needs a dose of every now and then! We love ya Minty!! 👍💯
"You know that mista mista lady, I think I just killed her" "You could trouble me for a warm glass of shut the hell up, now you will go to sleep, or I will put you to sleep, check out the name tag, your in my world now grandma"
7:12 Before this film I always knew him as Richard Castillo from Star Trek: The Next Generation's "Yesterday's Enterprise". He fell in love with Tasha Yar and went on to command the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-C during her fateful battle with the Romulans.
"Can I trouble you for a warm glass of milk? It helps put me to sleep" "You can trouble for me for a warm glass of shut the hell up, now you will go to sleep or I will put you to sleep, look at the name tag, you're in my world now grandma"
Me too. I only found out later as an adult that the only reason he acted like a total goofy idiot was cause he was always totally drunk. That kinda killed it for me, for a long time at least. I've had people get drunk around me alot in the past, and they would act similarly retarded. And if someone tried to tell them to go home or something, they'd usually flip their shit and start calling everybody the devil and wanna fight anything that moved and so on and so forth. I love the movie now though, it's a classic.
mark mothersbaugh actually did the music for a LOT of great movies and TV shows, rugrats, regular show, thor Ragnarok, etc, he is up there with Danny Elfman as one best of his generation
The filming of Happy Gilmore was Mostly done in Vancouver British Columbia Canada, the same place where film and TV done there. For instance, Airwolf season four, MacGyver seasons 3-6, 21 Jumpstreet, Wiseguy, The Commish, The X-Files, Sliders, Stargate SG-1, Atlantis and Universe, many of the CW shows, Smallville, Hellcats, Arrow, Supernatural, The Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Riverdale and the 100.
Happy Gilmore was also my introduction to Adam Sandler. I found out that he was a former SNL cast member years later. Without a doubt, Happy Gilmore is the best and most memorable film Sandler has done and will ever do in my opinion. It was the perfect use of all of his trademark mannerisms. Thanks to this video I now know that the name 'Herlihy' used in Sandler's classic SNL sketch with Chris Farley titled 'The Herlihy Boy' was taken from his friend and co-writer Tim Herlihy. Great video Minty. Keep up the good work.
I wish they still did. The shape/size of their bread and the way they cut them kinda made them stand out and unique-ish... also the bread had a different (better) taste to it back then.
@@CourtJ1076 I hated the way it was cut I remember it being messier but the bread did taste better back then it may have to do with the volume at which they do business or slight differences in crops over the decades
*Momma* "Bobby, dey ever catch dat gorilla that busted outta da zoo and punched you in da eye?" *Bobby* "No mama, the soich continues". 😆 Best. Movie. EVER.
Has to be one of my favourite Adam Sandler films, as well as Wedding Singer. I still laugh just as hard as I would if I was watching it for the first time....
PC Principal My favorite thing about The Wedding Singer is that comedic singer/songwriter Stephen Lynch played Robbie Hart in the 2006 Broadway Musical. He was nominated for a Tony! I wonder if Minty has ever heard of him. I saw him perform his own material three times! He has an amazing voice!
My favorite part of Happy Gilmore is when he head bumps Bob Barker in the head really hard after their fight he says, "The Price is Wrong, Bitch!". It has always been the funniest moments in my opinion.
I absolutely love Adam Sandler movies and can’t wait for you to do the reviews on The Wedding Singer!! That movie and The Waterboy are my favorites!! Thank you for all your awesome videos and keep them coming!! You ROCK Minty!!!👍
One of the best comedies ever, and by far Adam Sandler's best movie. Ben Stiller's small part is one of my favorite roles he's done. Hilarious and creative movie from start to finish.
Subway sandwich wrapping looks like that everywhere now, Minty. Yellow and green, sealed with a sticker. That brown and gold design was pretty sweet though, I miss that.
If you love this channel then you must be extremely in love with behind the scenes on the d.v.d's. That's were he gets most of his facts, I would love to think that Minty spends hours on a computer looking up facts. But unfortunately that would be to much work.
Bob Barker knows Karate. I like the 4 scenes where that guy always appears- AC falling, Grizzly Adams DID have a beard" etc Thanx for this video- I love it!
Dude I remember listening to "what the hell happened to me" Laughed so loud, the goat, the cult, the mom wanting everyone to play with their cock n nuts.
Yup! That scene is actually in the tv version. It's crazy that it would be left out of the theatrical release as you would think that people would want to see Stiller's character finally get what he deserved. Makes no sense that this was cut out.
I loved Carl weathers in it wearing a cardigan and being totally believable as a past golfer who could see something in Happy. Although i loved all the fights and Sandlers aggression, i didnt know Bob Barker, so that fight, well , anyway everyone else loved it. The cameos and The bad guy was perfect and sadly he plays his roles too well and i can see why his group of actors gets hassled for real. Kiel was great and everybody well cast and put in a top effort.
yup. they rated a dave Chappelle special 0% from the critics and 99% from the audience. like really? and that was his funniest special to date. the man is a comedic genius!
Hey, Mint!! I’ve been a fan for a long time, but until I watched this vid, I never knew you were on the spectrum! BROTHER!!! I’m 48 years old, I’m on the spectrum too, with 2 autistic children! Much love, Mang!! Don’t ever stop what you’re doing! Cheers and Merry Christmas from Virginia!
...on the "SPECTRUM"? ...when you said that in one of your videos, that made me relate to you even more, who cares about "SPECTRUMS" anyway?? ...that makes you even more BAD ASS!!! ...when you don't fit in with everyone else, and they think you're weird, (like me) ...that just means that THEY are just one of those "cookie cutter" types... all bland, without any imagination, or creativity... they are destined to never be able to think outside the box... poor them... poo-pooo... they will never have the capacity to understand... US!!! ...GOOD JOB, KEEP UP YOUR GREAT WORKS, MY FELLOW KINDRED SPIRIT!!!
Non-discriminating in one night stands does not inherently mean "not a shallow person". It merely means he has different criteria for sexual partners than the cultural norm.
