Always liked the detail of Tackleberry being the only person not to duck when Barbara flags everyone with the shotgun because Tackleberry knows he hasn't racked a new shell into the gun and therefore won't be able to fire it.
Firearms safety rule #1 treat every weapon as if it were loaded. Regardless of the status of the shotgun, it should still be considered loaded and dangerous.
They really were. I miss them so much. These days everyone has to be politically correct and we'd never have a lot of these movies again. Honestly surprised it hasn't been "cancelled" yet.
@@woodworkingandepoxy643exactly l! what’s worse, is these streaming sites are now editing out “offensive l” scenes from the classics like Tropic Thunder
Yeah I'm glad I'm seeing so many saying this about several different movies. Critics should be done with today cuz they just don't understand these movies
critics have all had their sense of humour surgically removed, this is why they can only 'criticise' everything rather than just laugh like the rest of us.
Isn't it just! I instantly thought _that has GOT to be because the people voting are kids that were born after 2thousand&bloody10 and just don't get it._
I actually have a friend we gave the nickname Hightower to. He was 6.7ft, and he had to make custom seat brackets for his Cavalier to fit in it. Someone yelled at him “why don’t you just take the front seats out Hightower?” and the name stuck from there
Rule of thumb: If the critics like it, it's probably garbage. If the critics hate it, good luck getting in to see it before all the tickets are sold out.
Granted he was a secondary sub character, he was almost as important to the film as Steve Goodenberg. My apologies if I misspelled his name. Winslow was naturally my favorite character as a child! The day dreams I would have about being able to do THAT many sound effects! 😅😂🤣
it WAS Blue Oyster Bar... I thought I was remembering wrong and got Blue Oyster cult mixed up with it. thanks. was going to make a joke about someone working at the "Blue Oyster Bar" thanks for that.
Yes! Captain Harris vs Mahoney were all Classic scenes that had me with literal tears running down my face and a guaranteed sore abs and facial cheek muscles from laughing so hard the next day! Also, any of the scenes with Captain Harris and Proctor were awesome too, even the he wasn't in thev1st movie. I'm glad he came in and replaced the 2 guts from.the 1st movie that were under Captain Harris as comic relief
@@derrickburwell7777 It's a subtle hint that Lassard isn't quite as out of touch with reality as he lets on. Mahoney had her "take care of" Lassard during the slide show, and Lassard had her do that to Mahoney during the final speech. If you pay attention, Lassard is like "Gotcha back".
@@vladyvhv9579 I did pay attention. Mahoney did not hide her under the podium to "take care" Lassard. He was hiding her from someone. He hid in the podium with her. She "took care" of Lassard on her own. Ergo, the implication at the end is that Lassard sought her out for her "services", hence Mahoney's surprised look and Lassard's reaction.
I've meet Michael Winslow & Steve Guttenberg. I love Police Academy! I was only 3 years old when the first movie came out...Can't believe this movie turn 40 years old this year.
And don't forget, one of the Queensland theme parks (Warner Bros I think) had a police academy stunt show. I saw it and have it on video somewhere. It was hilarious. RIP Marion Ramsey (Jan 2021), thanks for all the laughs.
Such a great movie. I played trumpet in a high school band back in the early 90's. The trumpet line played "El Bimbo", the blue oyster club song while 2 guys were dancing as we got off the bus before a football game. Our band director was not happy. We had to run many laps for a week during practice for that. Good times.
Please do police academy 4.. David Spade talked on his podcast about this being his first film, and the only reason why he got the role is because he sort of knew how to skateboard
I loved these movies. Tackleberry(rip) was my favorite character. I liked the toon and had the toys as well. Along with Rambo, was one of first rated R films I was allowed to watch
Love this “ten things” episode. Happy that Drew Struzan gets his own entry as the art of the movie poster is a forgotten thing in modern cinema. And Drew was the absolute master of his craft. Well done Minty
Police Academy movies are my childhood--i remember seeing the 2nd or 3rd one in Cleveland OH over either Thanksgiving or Christmas break. We had a longer vacation, so we were at the movie theatre on a weekday when local kids were still in school, and it ended up being only me and my brother in the otherwise empty theatre. The trailer ran ads like "Shhh, be considerate to your neighbour and whisper if you must speak" and we hollered to each other across the empty seats "HEY--does this BOTHER you?!" Citizens on Patrol is probably my fave installment of the Police Academy series, but 2-4 in general will always make me smile and think of my brother. :)
My dad, God rest his soul, has always been so dear to me and when he was really tickled by something, I just loved his laugh so much. It was a joy to hear and fun to watch and to THIS day, I think the podium scene is just the funniest thing because he would lose control every time he saw the scene. I imagine TOO it reminded a lot of old Service men, LIKE my dad, of their days in military boot camp.
I was way too young, but I remember my sisters took me to see this film in the theaters when it first came out. I remember my oldest sister shielding my eyes during the beach bonfire party scene. A piece in your background looked familiar, the digitized Mario figurine. Mine's up on a wall shelf, surrounded by other gaming memorabilia.
@@job4391 Yes! I love that one guy that's eating the powdered sugar donut in the elevator & when the door opens his whole mouth is covered in white powder 😂 Too many things were hilarious in that one
I don't think it would have been as successful as it was with Tom Hanks. He just doesn't have that kind of comedy in him. Plus after being outted as a visitor to Epstein Island, that would have damaged this movie these days
@@woodworkingandepoxy643what absolute nonsense of a comment 😂 Hanks was in some of the best comedies of the 80s and he is NOT in the flight logs You need to learn to think for yourself and stop falling for this Qanon bs. It’s okay to be wrong, its not okay to ignore facts and spread misinformation. do better
I heard Hanks was in the running right up to the end but just got edged by Guttenberg, and that as a 'consolation prize' he got the part in bachelor party, which was also written by Neal Israel. Israel also wrote Johnny Dangerously (another under rated 80's gem) which starred Keaton (and Dom De Luise).
i Have ALL the Movies in 1080p so 😁 and MY Movies Doesnt Have the Cussing Removed from it Either' so 👎 and the GUY at 12:38 Also Played on Stargate SG1
My late grandfather introduced me to this series. He never spoke much of anything, but based on how many times we watched these together, it was likely one of his favorites. Thanks for bringing up great memories.
Please cover the other 6 films in the series at some point. The 6 & 7 are underrated sequels. Especially 7 and its parody of Tetris during the era when Tetris was dominating portable gaming on the original Game Boy.
I love the original police academy and I enjoy some of the sequels as well. It would be cool if they actually get a reboot with Steve Guttenberg as the head of the academy off the ground
They could,@@bigkmoviesandgames, but I don't think it would be any good in this day and age, anyways we got Super Troopers 1 & 2... Maybe if Broken Lizard were to produce it, it might be good enough, now I think about it.
Apart from the actual film location being in Toronto, there is a hint in one scene as to a location. In that scene there is a map on the wall in the background that is a map of Detroit.
DC Metro PD in Washington DC did this, late 1980s early 1990s. The hired officers had so much fraud, misconduct, corruption 🗃 the DoJ-FBI & DEA had to get involved.
