For me one of the funniest moments is when Ted arrives at Mary’s home and Keith David answers and Ted double checks the house number. 🤣

@@shaan1001 of course there had to be someone bring it up the racist trending argument.... I hope you guys realize one day that this "racism" which you see everywhere nowadays, is just you guys being mad at life, and trying to find a social subject that can serve as a shelter for your anger. I know because I used to be like that until a couple of years ago. And for your information, everyone in the damn world is racist, one way or another. Ita perfectly natural for someone to not like someone else's culture and habits and etc, thats one thing, and sometimes saddly you have a few people acting with hate towards some others, and that we can all agree its wrong. But above all, much of the racism its being forced by your own eyes, just like starring at a old wooden floor, which eventually, if you stare to much, you'll begin to see some shapes and images, but in fact they only exist in your head.

I watched this movie in the movie theater as a teenager. Man, the whole room was exploding in laughter the whole time, namely the zipper scene and Mary putting the cream on her hair. This movie was epic. The right balance of cheesiness with proper comedy.

This is one of my top comedy movies. I'm so glad they didn't ruin it by making a sequel. I'm a Farley Brothers fan because I'm originally from Rhode Island and they incorporate RI landmarks we all recognize. Plus they make very funny movies. Big blue termite. Been a landmark since as long as I can remember. I'm 55. When we visited RI in 2004, my son saw the bug and shouted" that's in Dumb and dumber" . For the record, King pin was and is very underrated.

Probably the hardest I have ever laughed was while watching There's Something About Mary. But it wasn't because of a joke in the film, at least not directly. The film was a huge hit and many people were talking about how funny it was. One day, when my whole family was together, my grandmother said to us that she had heard that the movie was very funny and would like to see it. My sister, who should have known better, said, “Oh we can get that on pay per view.” For context, my grandmother was about 83-years-old, never swore, and went to mass nearly every day. She was a saint. But my sister had suggested pay per view so we sat down to watch it with her. In the masturbation scene, after he finished and was searching for his “love potion”, my grandmother asked “What's he looking for?” My brother replied, “his watch Grandma, he's looking for his watch.” I don't know if you had to be there to truly get how funny that was, but as I said I don't think I ever laughed harder than I did when my brother said “his watch.”
@skyden24195
@skyden24195 2 года назад
Grandmas and movies stories can be hilarious. One time my grandma was telling a story about my aunt ditching school to watch soap operas. Having already talked at length about the incident, my grandma paused and said, "To make a long story short..." to which I immediately responded, "Too late." (a la "Clue") The other family members that were there exploded with laughter.

I read that initially the Farrely brothers wanted Steve Young to appear to appear at the end of the movie Young was approached about the cameo but after reading the script, he declined because of the raunchy nature of the movie. This is why Brett Favre appeared. Also, this movie has really memorable line and scenes. The fish hook scene is a standout. If you listen really close enough, Warren says one of the funniest lines (IMO). While everyone is gathering around Ted and Mary, Warren says "He got in the way." as in the Ted stepped in front of the fish hook. That's classic and subtle. Also, King Pin is a very under rated movie.

The Farrelly brothers are really great at writing well developed characters. This is one of the extremely rare movies where I can actually understand why these men all fall for the leading lady. Even my mother likes this movie and the threshold of raunchy humor she tolerates is about what Friends was. She was excited when she first watched this because she actually knew the troubadour, Jonathan Richman. He’d perform at a lot of local places in Massachusetts in the 70’s and that’s how she met him. This movie has a lot of heart and I love it

I've had a foam Fluffy in his cast straddling the top of my TV for years. It's actually a antenna topper that came with the VHS

A friend during my residency training in Miami owned the house that Mary lived in (her family did). She said that Diaz and the Farrely brothers were just INSANELY nice but Stiller never wanted to interact with anyone and was a complete asshole. They have since sold the house and it's replaced with an office building (from what I remember). They all had dinner with the cast apart from Stiller who didn't want to show. I saw the pictures and it really surprised me.

The Crow is the greatest love story of our time with something about Mary being a close second.

It's always hilarious to hear people criticize an accent then seeing them find out the person is just using their own accent and their criticism just reflects poorly on themselves

Jonathan Richman (the musical narrator) fronted a fantastic proto-punk band in the early 70s known as the Modern Lovers, a band that also featured David Robinson (later of The Cars), and Jerry Harrison (later of the Talking Heads), all bands being New England-based, much like the Farrelly Brothers!

Yeah - calling them "punk" isn't right; it'd be like calling Muddy Waters "rock and roll." They extremely influential to punk, but not punk.

Evans is actually English and moved over to Wales during his childhood. Was born in my hometown as well which is right next to Wales
