This is like an instruction manual in video form :) When you were in the hidden menu, why didn't you UNLOCK the rest of the menu. Then you can see the speedometer, rev counter, fuel tank and some other features in digital form on the dashboard.... THAT is a hidden feature :)
There is one more hidden feature in the car. I found this out yesterday (accidentaly): 1) I put my car keys in my school bag. 2) I put the bag inside the car boot and tried shutting the boot. 3) The car never allowed me to shut the boot. This is an amazing feature, that saved me from a lot of inconvenience. I marvel at BMWs design feature. I owned my BMW 320i since May 2013. I found out about this feature accidentally yesterday 02/24/2023.
I have a 2014 BMW 328D M Sport, and I just love it. I have had it for over 2 years without any issues. We recently drove to Vancouver WA from California, much of the way we cruised at 75 to 80 MPH. I averaged over 43 MPG. This is the perfect road trip car. Very comfortable and after adding the BAV Sound Speaker System the sound system is awesome.
I test drove a 328d but it had a couple of issues. I did get a 328i. I love how smooth and predictable the acceleration is in comfort mode. For a gasser, it's still very efficient.
@@carsonteeter302 Yes, I love it. My car now has around 80,000 miles on it. I have not had any mechanical issues,. I don't beat it up, I drive it nice. I just did a trip to San Diego, from Tracy California and average 43.8 MPG and I was driving on cruise control most of the time at 76 MPH. This is a great car for long trips.
You’re gonna get your fingers dirty anyways if you actually plan on doing any work. Still a great feature since it saves you from looking like a dolt trying to find the latch.
You can "force touch" the cruise control lever up or down to increase or decrease by 5mph at a time. So if you're going 72 and push the lever up all the way (you'll feel a "bump") it will go to 75. Do it again and it will go to 80, then 85, etc.
Francis D Gareau i drive 2014th gen. and i can open the rear flap by holding the button for rear flap and close it by holding the button again, try it :) if it didn't does, maybe u can let it coding.
xpaschanx most key fob vehicle will let u roll down all windows by pressing unlock 3 times and hold last press...but in the USA it's illegal for the manufacturer to let you remotely roll them back up for some reason
Nice video! One sad thing about BMW culture today is that they make an active effort to bind you to the dealer - even going so far as to include many installed features in some sort of "subscription" scheme. And looking in the owner's manual for oil quantity recommendations it has a phrase "Oil changes should be done only by authorized BMW dealers." HAHA...Really, REALLY?????? Thank goodness for RU-vid and guys like you who produce such useful videos so we can perform simple maintenance on our wonderful cars.
Tip in the hood latch’s on BMWs more than a couple years old: There are two cables. One from the handle to the left latch, and another from the left latch to the right latch. So if only one side opens your cable fell off or broke. I suggest using some stainless cables and attach some “emergency release” cables to both. Run them down to under the engine splash shield and tuck them away.
And what's wrong with that? I don't know, but people are not all the same age...!? or wait, you just wanted to let people know you've owned BMW's for over 15 years. Thx, very helpfull comment.
I would've been helpful to me. It happen once to me I shut the engine in D and leave the car, no warning. The car roll back a little blocked half of the driveway, until my coworker told me.
It wasn't mentioned in the video, so I'll mention it here. The Europe side parking light feature is still active. Europe isn't required to have side reflectors as in the USA, they use one-sided parking lights if on the side of the road. To do this: Turn OFF the car. Push and hold the turn signal either left or right and only one headlight/angel eye & one taillight will come on for that side. The other side of the car will be dark. This alerts drivers you are on the roadside without draining too much battery. Hope you find it fun and helpful.
@@Perry_Wolf I just got this same model 318i. Really nice handling. When I pull down the lever on steering column then some orange lights starts to blink on left side - really cool feature! I guess those are the turn signals. Cannot wait to try the right side 🙃🙃🙃
We have a 2016 320 I but for some reason when we hold that button down for 10 seconds we don’t get anything that says “test”. We’re just trying to find out what the battery life is since we just purchased the vehicle. Any suggestions?
Here's one more: if you're in the middle of nowhere just by yourself and you keep playing with the car's electronics with the engine not running, you'll be in deep shit.
another feature i found out about, is that when you press down the right pedal, the car will start to move foward. its a pretty cool feature that BMW incorporated, and you can use it to show off to your friends and family. you're welcome.
How can this bmw have so many interieur extras but on the front only the cheapest halogen headlights? there should be at least xenon or the gorgeous adaptive led
German brand play games with ppl like that . Even a base model of their entry level is far more expensive than the Japanese brands but they strip off even the most basic stuff and make you pay extras for them. For example, LED headlight that cost them nothing...
If you accidentally tapped the flappy paddles and engaged the sequential shifting, you can disengage it by quickly tapping downshift, upshift and downshift.
It's just the look. M-Package ain't making the car better. I recommend buying one with the most extras you can get for your money. Because a badly equiped F30 on the inside isn't special at all.
@@DerHalbeEuro The m sport package adds the staggered wheel setup and the m sport steering wheel. It also adds sport plus which totally changes the driving dynamic.
@@rcybergaming My Luxury Line F30 also got the Sport+. It's not M Package only. Any line with the Sports Auto Transmission has this. Yeah and 98% of the people won't miss the staggered wheel on their dayli driving. M-steering wheel can also be equiped on any line. You see. M package is just for cosmetic.
Stef .. Im thinking of buying this model ... has it been treating you well over these past 2 years ,, adn do you still have it? any complaints .. plz lmk
@@jfox1416 I still have it... the only problem is the inner door handle grips will melt LITERALLY. I just replaced them with some aftermarket ones that look and feel better. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that a 5 or 7 series has but it's been very dependable thus far 👍🏾
I can use some advice man or anyone on here. I recently bought a one owner 2014 320i Xdrive so basically this car right here with the same color it's like new one owner blah blah but I am having issues with the bluetooth and some of the computer things on the idrive or the screen on the middle of the car that tells you everything about the car. It has every option that the entry level could have so I have my bluetooth hooked up for my iphone 13 and I can see my phone book on the screen and call people and my maps on my phone will play through the speakers but... I can't hear my friggin music unless I plug in an aux cable..... and the person on the steering wheel that looks like it's screaming doesn't do anything and the phone does but I can't do certain things and they must have them because they're grey instead of white which makes me think it needs a software update but reading all the stuff it's easy to mess up and so bad you can have to get it towed to the dealer if you're not careful so I just want to be able to play my itunes through bluetooth like everything else. I wonder why it only gives me options for the AUX and CD and Radio cuz the USB is in Grey too so it's got other things I'm lost and their is so much stuff to learn and maybe doing what you did might help but anyone knows let me know pleaseeeeeeeee
Hi Jeff, first you could try doing a reboot your screen and plug and unplug Your battery. secondly you could look at getting a new amplifier for your model and make sure that iDrive is fully up to the date.
Last spring (2019) I purchased my first BMW X3 - it was awesome. Two weeks ago coming home from work on the highway another car caused a four vehicle pile up. All three air bags blew, my first BMW was totaled. Needless to say, I'm sold on BMW's safety record. I have an F30 Luxury Line now. It's very comfy, well mannered, but flip it in Sport Mode and it rocks.
What he didn't explain is that holding the lock button on the fob closes all windows and sunroof. It is convenient if the sunroof is left in the vent position and it's about to rain. You don't have to get close to the car. Simply use the unlock button on the fob, then push and hold the lock button to close the sunroof.
@@ahis5523 not useless, I set several of the numbers to addresses, it's nice being able to touch it for one I haven't used in a while and it shows you on screen what it's mapped to before a actually pressing and firing up the satnav to the wrong address
The first one with the "hidden menu" on the instrument cluster has been with BMW since the 90s when the first instrument cluster digital displays appeared on BMW. Literally every BMW since the 90s has had that menu and that instrument test option where every light and every dial activates and moves.
So just because it's there and has been there for a while people must know about it? I just bought a brand new bmw 320i GT and none of these features were in the manual.
So your manual doesn't tell you how to open the hood or use the sunroof for example? You sure? I'd consider the first one a hidden feature though, the menu isn't really meant for the end user to access.
can you please tell me something. i have bought a bmw 320i the fluel cap wont lock and stay open is that normal i cant even lock it at night time so it stays open somone can just walk by and clik to open it. it sound a bit weird. and scary people can purse staff inside. it.
Also press and hold the traction control button to completely switch off DSC (on the cluster there will be a bright DSC off not traction that you are used to after pressing once) , if you are not an advanced driver i will advise you not to drive the car when dynamic stability control is completely off you will crash your car.
Just bought one on Carvana! If you guys are looking to buy, seriously check out Carvana. I’m just a guy and not being paid for this. Seriously bad ass way of buying. They are delivering it to my door, and maybe best thing is. You get 7 days to decide if you want it or return it. Probably the best thing is not dealing with dealerships. Check them out! Took me 20 minutes to get the deal done. Like Dude, I just bought a car online. Freaking so cool! Best of luck to you all!
None of these are “hidden“ and none of them are BMW specific. I have a 1993 Civic, a 2018 320 I, a 2022 Urus Graphite Capsule, and a 2022 Taycan Sport Turismo. They all have all of these “features”.
I own 2017 one 330e hybrid, love it. Apart from having analogue display and no reversing camera, ofcourse you get them for extra, but apparently there wasn't a single one with any of these lol.
Hi i own a 2014 bmw 328i M3 and i was checking out the hidden features bmw has. I seen your video and i tried doing exactly what you show and it don't do anything. What do you think it is?
I absolutely HATE the hold button to roll down all windows feature. My beamer had it and my Lexus does too. I keep my key fob in my pocket 100% of the time, plus sometimes mints, etc. There have been times I've gone out in the morning and all my windows are open...arrrgh! Somehow I've sat in a way the button was pressed in my pocket. One time my car was not in the garage and it had rained while my windows and sunroof were all open! Stupid feature. It doesn't even make sense in hot climates, which I think it's designed for, because, with all black interior as 90% of these cars have, the interior gets just as hot with the windows open, especially the sunroof. I like the way normal operation of the sunroof is a "hidden" feature.
How about #11. If you are stupid enough to own a BMW out of warranty you will see about $10,000 in repair bills. They sell that factory 100,000 mile extended warranty for a reason--GET IT.
SAUR: A $1,000 worth of tools? LOL. You forgot all the time you have to spend with the car in your garage, with the car being fixed & out of service, and all those tools you have sitting at home won't do you much good when the car breaks down on the highway and you have to be towed, miss a day of work, and wait days for that part BMW doesn't have in stock....which tells me you are an armchair expert who doesn't own those $1,000 tools, and probably doesn't own a BMW. Like I said--get a used BMW with 100K warranty and let BMW fix it and pay for the work......THAT is the way to do it........
NOAH---yes but 99% of people who own BMW dont have the time to fiddle with a car repair--and like I said if the car breaks on your way to work--now you have to get towed, miss work, .......as a hobby car to drive on weekends sure, but for serious transport, you need something reliable. A German car with 208km is not it...And the newer models don't look easy to work on to me.
4 years of ownership and had to reset my idrive once as the connected app on my phone started playing up. The rest of this stuff is in the drivers handbook
one hidden feature is that BMW makes the lousiest infotainment system in the industry. My 2017 330i haas trouble with apple carplay. Just about everything has major bugs. Pandora is not supported on Android. Who is the moron infotainment system program manager at BMW ? All BMW official videos on youtube have comments turned off. Can take any critical comments BMW? Cars now are almost self driving and BMW thinks that adaptive cruise control is a feature that only billionairs use.
If you want to unlock the hidden menu, just look at to the last 6 digit of car identification number, the sum of the numbers in the last 6 digits is the password. After you unlock it using this number you can see lots of informations and they are not related with service process.
