There are at this moment few vehicles in Mahindra's line up that will appeal to the European buyer: The XUV 500, Thar, Marazzo (now discontinued), Alturas (soon to be discontinued) and the upcoming XUV 700.

Here is the collated information: Thar got 4 stars in Global NCAP (a charity organization based in the UK that promotes crash testing and reporting of vehicles for emerging markets such as India, under their SaferCarsForIndia initiative.) We were unable to find Jeep Wrangler results on their website. Australia uses ANCAP as safety standard. Thar hasn't been tested by ANCAP yet. They have tested two vehicles by Mahindra: Xuv500 - 4 stars Pik-Up - 3 stars As for Jeep Wrangler, on ANCAP: Wrangler (2012 - Mar 2019) - 4 Stars Wrangler (Apr 2019 - Oct 2019) - 1 Star Wrangler (Nov 2019-onwards) - 3 Stars If Thar comes to Australia, it will be tested by ANCAP and we will know what its rating is. :)

Does thar have openable doors? i think wrangler got 1 because the structural strength of the car relies on the chassis.

@Tigre - I have experience in a Mahindra. I think it's better than American car quality. It was bumpy but Indian roads have a lot of holes. It looks a little cheap but I have more faith im Mahindra. I don't trust Tatra i hated that, including the quality.

@Tigre - I was talking about the roads of Imphal in Manipur. I drove a Tatra suv. It fell apart. I know the roads cam be good elsewhere. I didn't experience good roads. I was very surprised to see the old suzuki cars kept going forever on mountain roads where most Western people would buy a SUV for the same roads.

@Tigre - It was a Tata. Because of this journey to a wedding of my friend i want to move to Bangalore. I had the best food i ever had in the world in India. There is a lot of misconception in the west about India.

Both Mahindras and Tatas are better people than Ambanis and Adanis... lol

@A Gaurav Thanks for that information. Since the news broke out we have had a lot of comments lamenting the fact that Thar is not coming to Australia. Which is weird because the new Thar is quite different looking from the Wrangler. Really sad. The website link was indeed broken at the time we accessed it (that's why we recorded the video in real-time). It was not because of the traffic. The links were broken at that time. In retrospect, it doesn't matter. It was a quirk that we just found out lol :)

@Prakrit Biswas First of all I was talking about revenue which will eventually go to Mahindra if you buy any of them and I know it's not value for money . Second thing do you know why there are only 5 to 6 corporations hold entire automobile industry in the world ? Because they have to do less R&D and competition so that they can make similiar types of vehicles for all of their subsidiaries . So big corporations acquired all medium scale auto brands . Eg.: Volkswagen ,GM ,Tata , Hyundai , Toyota all killed competition and innovation . Mahindra did the same thing with Ssangyong and Paninfarina (because of existing R&D facility ) so they don't need to put extra money and get lifetime R&D . During my work in Peru I have seen same Scorpio and XUV with better build quality and loaded feature in export variant . Indians love cheap and millage who will provide that shit . Our tax system makes vehicles more pricey than the actual price so they have sell you underpowered tin cans and Indians love that . That's why Suzuki is still highest selling automaker .

And real offroader too.. Not like other car in market

Nope. Not yet. We do have the dual cab version of Scorpio and the XUV500.

The Thar top trim with hard top, all the options and Indian road taxes comes to $30619 [16 lakh rupees] according to their online configurator. Its also amassed 50000 orders in India, so the wait till delivery is 7 months if you but one.

Petrol hardtop will be less than 25k $.

Just approved for USA but has to be built as a kit over there due to legal battle with jeep. I’d doubt it will arrive in Australia for under 30k. Better than Chinese though.

@Yash Rathod depends on the state.there are differences of upto 80k in different states.Also if you buy insurance other than your dealer you can save upto 30-40k. That’s a lot of money.

Thats comparing encap to gncap but I saw the deformable barrier crash test of both and thar did better in it, I am talking only about the deformable barrier and not any other tests bcz gncap only tests the deformable barrier.

The Wrangler was tested under the stricter Euro NCAP guidelines, while the Mahindra achieved its result under the less stringent, and much less extensive Global NCAP regulations.

@@peter12246 bro 😂😂 wrangler was rated poor in frontal deformable barrier crash while thar did score better in that. And that score doesnt vary from ncap to ncap. Encap is just strictier bcz of more number of tests and more safety requirements, otherwise it tests at the same speed and rates the crashes just like other ncaps (if talkin about a single type of crash).

@@Bhaidostyaar Bruuuuh! Every NCAP has its own protocol to crash-test and score cars, and so the results are not interchangeable. Euro NCAP, for instance, conducts full frontal, front offset, side impact and side pole tests. Global NCAP ratings, on the other hand, are based on front offset crash tests alone. So calm down bhai, put the champagne bottle away 😂😂 You're comparing apples to oranges

@@peter12246 bro you didnt get what I want to say, I am talking about a single type of crash, its not like someone's "chest" is weaker for encap and stronger for gncap, the body impacts are the same for every ncap, n talking about the frontal deformable barrier crash, thar did have better results in that compared to the wrangler, wrangler has worse body impacts in several areas than thar. (And here I am not talking about the overall rating , only the frontal deformable barrier test in which thar was better than a 60 lakh truck). And if you are confused why ancap wrangler has better rating(3 stars) than encap then the reason is that in ancap many safety features are mandatory which aren't necessary in encap.

Everyone does initially. When they prove to expensive on fuel, we like to step down a little.
