My moms from Spain, and my dads from Mexico! Both are beautiful, great countries. I might be ethnically 94% Spaniard but México is a place I absolutely love, and feel a connection to. Awesome that you travel, we all need that. We’ve only got so much time in this life. 👌🏼

Three years ago I participated in a folk festival with Mexican mariachi. I spent only five days with them but those five days were soooo cool that I cried badly while leaving. They were so energetic, so lovely, always singing and dancing. Omg 😭😭😭That trip encouraged me to learn Spanish and my aim now is to visit Mexico this year. Mucho love from Russia🇷🇺. Viva Mexico!

I balled my eyes out at the airport, on the plane and when I got home for like 3 days. My experiences there will never be forgotten, I met so many good people, lost my virginity (not a good thing), learned a ton of Spanish, ate tons of good food, tried alcohol and cigs... haha I was literally just experiencing everything
It's basically the same. Only difference you'll feel is language. Apart from that, you'll be quite surprised how much it's same. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't go. You definitely should.

Instead of speaking Spanish in Miami, try Cubano. It's a Spanish variant with bits of French, Taino, and other African languages throw in for good measure.

I am married to a Mexican women for the past 6 years. She grew up in La Moncada and came to US when she was thirty. She is now 59. We traveled back to her village a few years back and what I saw and experienced was exactly what you said. Also, being married to her and experiencing her family; I find them to be loving, kind, passionate people who have been very misunderstood by many Americans. That said, there is an element of criminal activity in Mexico. But the vast population of Mexicans despise the crime and would love for it to be done away with. They feel the same way we do about crime in our on county.
I adore Mexico , we were married there , we long to return . God willing . Yes this comment is correct , there is criminal activity like anywhere and it’s definitely not perfect by any means but the people, culture , food , music , colors , ambiance , far outweighs all the kinks , I’d rather go there and give up some comforts of USA because it’s just as messed up if not more but has prettier infrastructure and streets, etc . I feel it’s a lipsticked pig , now I am still grateful for many things in USA but Mexico actually feels a bit more “free” in a weird way .
Your video brought me memories. 2 years ago i made my trip to México and i can still remember how much i cried in my last day at there. I cried because México treated me so well with their amazing people, with their amazing food, with their big passion about themselves. Since i went back to Brazil (my home country) i never passed 1 day without remembering everything that i lived there. México really has something unique, hope come back soon for a long stay.
It’s funny the fact that everyone thinks that knows everything about México. Here in Brazil we love México for the telenovelas, for El Chavo del 8, for the tequila... But México has so much more. The mexican people is something that we can’t translate. Maybe in a future we could look at the real México and not just for the stereotypes. Viva México!
I'm from Canada, and I went to Mexico a while ago, and ever since I've been learning Spanish. I didn't know anything about it before going, but it quickly became my favourite place in the world. It really does get unnecessarily bad press. I felt safer there than I do in my city. Next on my list: Mexico City!!
Hi Milk & Honey...I was afraid to go to Mexico City because of the bad press, but my husband wanted to go badly because of the museums, etc, so I did some research and became excited to go. I wish I could live there it was so awesome. Try Duolingo for your Spanish...I got to use it in Mexico City...not many English speakers there! Good luck!

You’ll see Asians, to Europeans, to middle easterns, to natives, to Africans. But they don’t see themselves as that. They just consider themselves Mexicans. It’s not like the US. When I studied abroad in Mexico, I was surrounded by supportive and wonderful people. I never imagined that they would not only make me feel at home entirely, but make me love Mexico more than I did before I went. I loved my life there and I can't wait to go back

I am a French-born American who's been heavily considering moving to Mexico with a close friend of mine. She is from Mexico, and tells me she'd be more than thrilled to go back. From growing up in a Hispanic community (I live in Arizona) and being taken in by a Mexican family for a while when I was younger, I've come to learn that Mexicans are generally very kind, welcoming and passionate people. NO Hi insecurity obviously variates on the state and city you’re willing to live in. It has increased on the last two years and people is starting to spread awareness and to take action. Of course it’s not going to be the same as it is in England, we have to be careful when we go out specially on the night time. But if you’ve lived here before, I’m pretty sure there won’t be any surprises.
Everything he said is SPOT ON! I have lived here for close to 11 years, and it's ZERO STRESS, you can open a business in your driveway (cochera) without issues. On the water thing; correct, but - BUT the water from the water company is good stuff; however, the system encompasses a cistern (aljibe), a pump, another tank on the roof (tinaco) for pressure, and sometimes, like in my town, the water is pretty hard with gypsum (sarro). It's best to get a bottled water from a larger company. The 20 ltr bottle (5 gals) will run you $30 - $40 pesos (1.50 to 2 bucks, US). I think, if you added an 11, you don't need a car. Every place in Mexico I've been to has an adequate bus service and taxis. If you're TALL, please be careful of the CFE (electric) metres because you will bump into those suckers, and they hurt. One thing I would add is to not be afraid to ask native Spanish speakers _(anywhere_ in Latin America) for help with your Spanish. Even if you are in need of quite a _lot_ of assistance, as long as your interest is sincere, your effort will reflect it, and they will appreciate it.
Funny, I moved to México 7 years ago and almost everyone in my school, even adults, would make fun of me for not pronouncing things correctly. And they all just saw me as "the girl who is from the other side"
@@lazarose sadly, Mexicans can be rude sometimes, even if they're not pretending to. I'm Mexican and even other Mexicans laughed of me more than once, but I think that's a thing we must change. There's mean people around the world, but not all the people around the world is mean.

I don't think anyone is denying facts or figures, I certainly am not. Speaking for myself, I know that Mexico is more than a homicide rate or the deplorable acts of violence that spread across screens or newspapers. Mexico is a country with a long and diverse history, rich culture and wealth of natural resources. The country itself is gorgeous and the people are warm, proud, welcoming and appreciative of those that come to visit their country and learn about their customs and traditions. I commend Dan and any other foreigner that choose explore, experience and interact with Mexico and its people on a deeper level. If you can't overlook the bad news coming out of Mexico, that's ok...to each his own. ;-)
Sometimes I want to get a job abroad to live a "better quality life", but when I see your videos, I just want to stay in Mexico forever, and it makes me remember when I walked around my city before quarantine, I love my Mexico.

To all foreigners that are coming soon to México, please bring open mind and good hearts because Dan is right when he says that we're pasionate and proud of our culture (food, geography, music, language, etc) and we don't like to be judged by foreigners in our own country. If you visit us you really have to respect us because we welcome you in the best ways or at least we try to give our best for you tourists enjoy your trip here. Shawn Dennstedt So true! I have traveled south of the Arizona border hundreds of miles...alone... in my truck a number of times. My experience was amazing, met so many people along the road,within the small villages/pueblos who treated me like family. I never met them before and was treated like a guest. As for Mexico, south of the San Diego border, been down there so many times and have been treated very well, too. The U.S. advisory given is fair to publicize however the fear tactics within the warning is not fair. Mexico is a beautiful country, more so because of the people who live there, same people who appreciate it when you (foreigner) come with a simple love for their country. I. 💙 you Mexico!

I lived in México for 2 years total (2 separate trips), in Tamaulipas (the most dangerous area the media would have you believe). I loved every minute. Yes, I'm ethnically colombiano, not Mexican looking, but I was born in the United States. I was treated so much better than I was ever treated in the US.

I lived in Mexico for 1 year. It was the best year of my life. I was an exchange student and lived in Aguascalientes. 1989//1990. I totally agree, especially #10. They are proud, humble, kind, genuine, fun, always excited to show you their country. I also agree about the language. You don’t have to be fluent, but knowing some words, or questions would be appropriate. While the country has so many things to offer, food, music, architecture, churches, but one thing I personally would add to this list is bullfighting. I´m mexican, I´ve been living here, in Jalisco all of my life, I worked at a call center to assist American customers and when I´d talk to them and asked about mexico some said some ignorant stuff that made me really angry, they always tell us stuff that are not even true, that probably they´ve seen on TV abd that stuff. When I saw your video at first I thought you were going to say stuff just like 90% of americans always tell, but as I saw your video, I was really thankfull for exposing the good stuff about Mexico, yes, we have problems as you said, but we have cool stuff, and as a Mexican a really appreciate that a foreign actually appreciates mexico and is willing to make a video about this just to let people know about the true about mexico. We have some friends who stay in Mexico about 6 months out of the year and absolutely love it. I feel sure my husband and I would enjoy living in Mexico - it seems so much more real and friendly than the artificial U.S. where we've lived all our lives. Because our government is so corrupt (warring, lying, etc) and deliberately divides people, I am ashamed of this country. Sadly, this government puts profits over people and is more interested in money than people's lives and is why the U.S. is deteriorating rapidly. I see myself as a citizen of the world, anyway, not of one country. I'm really happy to see people leaving their countries and moving to a wonderful place like Mexico!

.... nah bro. If you are born in Mexico or gain Mexican citizenship through other means then you are Mexican. You can be of Mexican descent which in itself is usually pretty mixed with some Native American, European, African, Asian etc... in varying degrees. He has to work for that Mexican card, don't go giving it to anyone that shows a little interest... that sounds familiar somehow.

Good video....and everything you said is right on correct...except..about safety. I watch alot of english language videos about Mexico, and almost all of them repeat the same false news...that is that the horribly violent and high level of crime is only between criminal gangs. Wrong. It affects everybody. I have personally seen friends,well, not to get too gory, but not alive, minutes after.... I have been shot at twice(unsucessfully of course), and I am not involved in any kind of criminal activity, do not use drugs, I am just an innocent youtuber filming in areas that foreigners rarely visit in Guerrero, Oaxaca and Puebla states. I am not saying that people should not visit Mexico, the odds of becoming a victim is still quite slim, however it must be said, the highest level of precaucion should be taken. I have been living in MX off and on for over 40 years, and only in the last couple of years have I had to use armed security and use private taxis to visit certain areas....be carefull....otherwise, a great video! Oh this video made me really happy! I think that you truly understand Mexico. Usually when a tourist visits they don't really get our way of living, and sometimes they don't even bother to do so. But I was completely surprised that you talked about our passion, and Pueblos Mágicos. I would add three things: 1.- People here are really, really friendly. If you meet a random person on the street they'll usually greet you with a smile (UNLESS you're being disrespectful. Then we'll usually get aggressive lmao) 2.- Most of our traditions are related to family, let that be reunions, parties, or even El día de muertos. We absolutely adore our families, they are our biggest support system, and we will do everything for them. 3.- Latin America is a place surrounded by magic and tragedy. You will hear a lot really sad stories related to injustice, drug violence, or even poverty, even the land was founded on tragedy. Don't ignore this fact in order to appreciate Mexico, since this also represents who we are. We accept death, we grow from it, and we work as hard as we can in order to get past it. Actually, El dia de muertos is a perfect example of this. We are not mocking or celebrating death, we accept it as part of our lives with music, humour, and with our families.
Wow, this was a touching comment for me. Especially point 3... My heart is immensely drawn to Mexico right now. Somehow I just wanna move there and live there. Idk if it's because of this girl who I fell in love with, and only had her as my girlfriend for a much too short time, or if the phase I'm going through in my life is drawn to the tragedy, and death, and essentially all those dark things you talk about. I lived in Mexico in the early 90's. In 2001 I moved to Thailand (from Holland)and still live in Bangkok I think of my years in Mexico (Merida, Yucatan) as the best years of my life. Wonderful country.

Brando Alberto at the pyramids, the stairs are cracked and it is mud and dirt under a finish of rock. why is that??? and theblast pyramid was closed off waay down the way...like do they reconstruct them? are they not original? that seemed confusing. also, why are people (ok i think they were from england) allowed to openly pray to old gods (wish I had the nerve at the time to rebuke them)?

The only small thing I'd disagree with about this video is the safety thing, sure there's not narcos walking around the city and stuff but specially as a woman it's scary to go out alone and there being the chance of being harassed, kidnapped, raped or even killed because that is a huge problem here. Also, the metro may be kind of unsafe but once you learn where to keep your things and that kind of stuff it's alright, I've been using it everyday for a couple years and never had something stolen so yeah, I'd be more worried about walking around at night

Mexican here About the Tap water Yes, don´t drink it, and it´s just because we are used to some bacteria that foreigners are not used to, the same thing happened to me when I had the opportunity to travel to South Korea, so just drink bottled water. Very good video btw

I visited 5 times Ciudad de México, Puebla, Morelia, Taxco, Patzcuaro and I must tell I am in love with this country and its warm people. If we (Mexicans) don't drink tap water, why would you drink it? But don't be afraid of it, I have met Americans who don't even brush their teeth with tap water, it can be used for everything.

Dear Dan... I’m appalled and over flowed with emotion at how perceptive you are about Mexican culture. You’re really unique. Your point #10 was breathtakingly beautiful. I almost cried☺️. Not lying. Like you said, we’re a proud culture who’s had it pretty bad for many reasons... the Spanish Conquest, the Spanish Inquisition, the French intervention, the Mexican American War, loosing 1/2 of our territory to the arrogant and despotic U.S. politics and its “Manifest Destiny” for this continent, the love/hate relationship stereotypes and mistreatment from our neighbor to the north, the politically and interest driven “war on drugs”, our poor heading north due to lack of opps and last, our lack of democratic institutions which translates into poverty and deep mistrust towards our governments. Things need to turn around cause all this has proven to be a bit too much leaving us a bit sensitive in the topic of nationalism. Thanks for EVERYTHING Amigo. Burritos are actually from the north of Mexico, in the center or south the people don’t know them well. In Sonora, Sinaloa, Baja California Etc. Burritos are great, but really different from the USA or Canada. Also Tacos in the north are very different. 😊

Gerry Hernandez Well I’m from there too and there is burritos and the tortillas de Harina are from Sonora and there’s something call súper burros, that are sell in the north. Even the burritos of machaca, chorizo con papa, frijol con queso Etc. I’m from Baja California and I’ve eaten burritos in BC, Sonora and Sinaloa, and they’re nothing like in te USA. If you didn’t try the Sonora mega tortillas de harina, you can’t talk about the north of Mexico.

I live in Mexico, good idea, I usually wear pants with zippers on the pockets, joggers, things like that. Another tip: NEVER use a backpack on your back, if you go in the metro. put it in front of you. Good luck if you come to México sometime! :D
I’ve been visiting Mexico for years and have always loved it and it’s people. Mexico City, Acapulco, Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo Cancun and Tillman and even some day trips into the interior. As an American I’m almost too ashamed/embarrassed to go. Although I usually try not to take responsibility for others actions, I can’t expect others not to hold me as such. I enjoyed your video and admit it lifted just enough of my angst to consider a return. I’ve always wanted to visit Oaxaca Maybe soon. Thanks
Thank you for all of your videos I really enjoy watching them. I went to Mexico City for the first time this past December 2017 and was really nervous about the stories I have heard. Once I was there I felt really safe and I cannot wait to return to Mexico City! It is probably one of my favorite cities I have been to. I loved all of the art and architecture and the food was the best I have ever eaten in my life! Met so many friendly people and I truly miss CDMX. I loved how you did the video at La Casa De Tono it was so good I ate there twice when I was there. If you get a chance try Gorditas El Guero gorditas de chicharron were amazing!!!
It's just people who have never been exposed properly to tap water antigens (and such don't form antibodies when young) and prefer bottled water, which in my opinion tastes different like a bit more acid. After hurricane Gilberto the drainage and distribution system of Agua y Drenaje (AyD) de Monterrey improved water quality a lot making it safe for human and animal consumption, something not available in most states or even outside the city. AyD warranties water will come completely clean and safe before your house's tubing system, so if you get ill when drinking tap water that's an indicator your tubing system is dirty and needs maintenance. Excellent vlog per usual. Many also think of MX being kinda CA, AZ, TX border. Most don't know that Cancun (the Yucatan area) is only 2 hrs from ATL..Hour and ten mins to Havana. MX embraced it indigenous people and those ancient cultures are woven into the country. Only time I was scolded was by a young laundry mat worker.."Why you not learn Spanish." Most angry thing said to me in 40yrs of visits I talk politics. Never met anyone that does not view Trump as muy loco. They love a US Point of View. MX is a diverse stunning country with beautiful friendly people with an amazing spirit. I'd never ride the metro but often the busses. Muchas Gracias Dan.

John Edward Jones you idiot Atlanta is in Georgia which is near Florida and Tennessee. Hell it takes 2 hours to drive fully across Atlanta counting traffic. It's physically impossible for Mexico (which is by Texas) to be anywhere near the east coast

What he said about the perceived safety of Mexico is also basically true for the Philippines. Everyone in the U.S. thinks that the Philippines is some gang-ridden country where any foreigner or tourist is risking getting killed just by being present. I was over there for a week, with my girlfriend, among the locals. There was literally no feeling of threat, danger or violence. The only thing(s) that did annoy me was I couldn’t walk out of a grocery store with bags in my hand without little children running up to me and her and begging for money in Tagalog. That and the fact that there’s no sense of personal space in public, those 2 things kind of irritated me but other than that it was fine.

By far the best video among u-tubers visiting Mexico and I have to said that it is OK to criticize Mexico in a negative way as the tap water because that help us out to take care business because that is embarrassing so we get it! We have to keep working hard to get to the place Mexico and the Mexicans dream about! im surprised and happy to see people stop or said little about the smog problem every time less noticeable by visitors and I feel proud and happy to said that Mexico City twenty years ago was by far the most polluted city world wide! To be now moving down in the list to the point that there are 4 US cities and many others like Bangladesh! Kalcuta, Tokyo! Even Sapporo loosing grown to environmental policies to protect the only home humans have! The great job by the Mexicans to be more responsible for the aspect and face the city offered daily to forgings and understand that the cleanest people is not the one sweeping the floor more often but the one who produce less waste has the control of it! And deposit were it belongs! We are not perfect and we are far from that but I have to said it! THE TRUE MEANING OF MEXICO HIDES IN THE CULTURE AND TRADITIONS! I lived in Mexico for a while and we lived in un rancho and they have the best water i ever had. We got it from a stream of water that is flowing. It is protected and fenced to keep people away so it's all threes and bushes with a tube that pops out where the water is poured out. Its so fresh and cold its so good
