I remember hearing the Kane storyline was originally going to be Glenn Jacob's retirement having it be revealed the masked Kane was the original and the unmasked Kane(Jacobs) was an imposter and having Gallows who was masked Kane taking over the Role of Kane but Jacobs changed his mind and they quickly ended it. Now I'm not sure if that was true or not though
The imposter Kane story existed solely to promote the film See No Evil. It was built around May 19th, which was the film's release date. Worked I suppose since I still remember that date
quiznights, the funny part of that storyline was HBK on mic saying May 19th, May 19th, May 19th then placeing the mic on Rob Conway so Kane would destroy Rob Conway . LOL
It wasn't really on the way to being a huge success either. There's a middle ground of being profitable but, unspectacular and that's where it was settling into.
I actually stopped watching WWE entirely in 2006, for these precise reasons. The idea that they needed to go back to goofy 80's & 90's gimmicks to stop falling ratings. That and that was one of the rare periods TNA was actually good and worth investing more time into.
Idk if other agree but , i always like the brand split idea. Have 2 separate world was awesome. I still remeber the Smackdown vs Raw from 2005 in survivor series was so incredible. The bad in the recent brand split is that only one brand have strongs names or not much time for mid cards. It was terrible booked in last years thats why wwe looks like will end it soon.
Lol right!? I believed it as a kid too! I remember going to school and we were all talking about how Vince McMahon had died. 😂💀 i even told my mom. Then the Benoit thing happened and it got real dark quick.
They do that more times than twice, the famous "Old School Raw" lol especially if you count the pther versions with diffrent names but same concept like "25 Years Raw"
The Juniors division was supposed to be in the same vein as the Super Juniors in Japan but someone (Johnny Ace) got it twisted and thought the creative staff meant little people.
Hell yeah, Jules on Whatculture Wrestling. He's one of the few on Whatculture I love listening to alongwith Simon. He's an absolute gem on Whatculture gaming as well.
Great Khali wasn't a failure. That guy was awesome. Made WWE interesting at the time. Probably one of the most memorable debuts in WWE history. Nobody was doing anything like that to the Undertaker People didn't like him because of his in ring work. He had knee problems I think. As a character he did his job and did it well. I came across a video of his work in Japan before WWE a week or so ago and I was surprised. He was jumping over the top rope.
"people didn't like him because of his in ring work" You mean WRESTLING fans hated a WRESTLER because of how bad he was at WRESTLING? Outside of the ring he was just 7 foot Santino Marella, except without the mic work.
@@MrJtYates how many people watch Wrestling for Wrestling really? It's not like he didn't sell for his opponents or didn't have devastating looking moves himself. So all in all he did what was required of him wouldn't you say? What was similar to Santino? Mic skills? He could get reactions when spoke and convey emotions. He didn't speak English but did he really need to?
I wasn't really a fan of Jules at first, but I grew to admire him for his outros. Always poignant, thoughtful, and sincere, he's clearly very aware that some simple kind words can completely change someone's day around, which is something we should all try and do a little more. Words are free, people. Just make sure you choose the right ones.
I guess "Ignoring the fans wanting Daniel Bryan as the Rumble winner" should have an honorable mention. Opinions differ on whether that was a failure or not, but the live audience was definitely not pleased each time.
To be fair, Psycho Sid/ Sid Vicious could wrestle better than the other Giants pictured. He did have his share of promo Botches, WCW n WWF, but I don't think he was a "Bad Wrestler" ( in-ring ability )
The XFL's second go around was successful as their TV ratings and attendance ratings were on the rise each week. Then the world shut down in the middle of their season and it was a killing blow that would have killed off any sports league in it inaugural season.
The second time around of the XFL was actually doing well. Then the overblown worldwide pandemic came around and that was that. Of the two football leagues the AAF was the dumpster fire that had to shut down.
The certain bits failed due to external factors, outside of WWE’s control. Benoit’s double-murder-suicide, Kennedy breaking the wellness policy, and the pandemic ruining everything.
With the case of the XFL, the second time wasn't really Vince's fault, it could have worked, from what I could tell many Football fans really liked the XFL. Another one of my opinions is twinsanity can work if booked right, a lot of people remember nWo Sting fondly and I guess part of that has to do with how he was revealed.
FYI Shane Douglas was a real life teacher Also (that's where Dean Douglas came from)and you have the Vince deaths mixed up .He came back to life after the Benoit Tragedy cause it came off in bad taste after finding out .. well you know what happened
Vince wasn't back on TV within six months of the limo explosion. He was back on the following Monday's episode of Raw, and the angle was then dropped because of the Benoit tragedy. When both Giant Gonzalez and Great Khali got to WWF/E, they were at a stage in their careers where they could no longer move around well in the ring because of how big they were.
To be honest the next week is within six months. Jk. You are right, I just wanted to get a joke in. 😉😁😅 One love ❤️ Edit: Yes, it's a dumb joke. I'm a dumb person and that's my best, yes.
What kills me is Vince said Jr division not midget division he wanted Johnny ace the idiot that he is to go and get top of the line cruiserweight talent. So he ended up putting something pointless on tv while also damaging and taking time away from the cruiserweight division the very same division he was tasked with helping grow and yet somehow he made it to 22 as head of talent relations lmao
Obviously, Vince was counting on fans having poor memories. Either that, or he thought these ideas were so brilliant they merited a reboot. Or both, who knows?
@@REfan2002 Yeah so definitely he did learn from the mistakes. Leave the wrestling in the ring and let the players play football. And it was unique! Definitely better than the Alliance of American Football was
@@robh678 What does that have to with anything? You said Khali was one of the reasons you stopped watching wrestling regularly, not that you didn't watch because you didn't have cable to watch Raw. So you cancelled your cable because of The Great Khali? I'm not sure you're not BSing
@@robh678 OK. But surely he wasn't on every show and wasn't on the entire length of the show. Seems a bit of a weird reason to stop watching the entire show is all I'm saying
The Kane vs Kane gimmick was good why you guys always reach for videos. This list wasn't even all that bad half of them were good the nit picking is carzy
Yet WWE continues to earn record profits while the marks favourites, AEW, Impact, NJPW, ROH, etc. do the same thing every week and are failing (well ROH actually failed) but no videos about that? lol 🤔
