Tip: in the second year, make sure you ask family, friends, friends of friends, co-workers to be your patients. You’ll need them... as requirements and competency.
Can you make a video on tips for high school students who are interested in becoming a dental hygienist? Such as answering questions about when you should start looking at programs/colleges, are you able to have the time to do sports, how you make time to spend time with friends/family
Thank you soooo much for always giving out tips and words of encouragement to dental hygiene students! I remember when I made the choice to do DH after I watched your videos last year and now I'm very proud to say that I'm about to begin my 2nd AND LAST year ! lol, Dental Hygiene has been one helllll of a ride but I kept pushing and believing in myself. Your videos made me believe that I could do it and look at me now... doing the damn thing ! I will always take any chance I get to say thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You don't know how much your words of advice and encouragement have helped me overcome every obstacle. & after watching this video, I'm ready to take on all the ups and downs of year 2 of dental hygiene school :) I pray that you get blessed in abundance and once again, thank you Tajah.
Flo R thank you so much for this beautiful message Flo! I have seen your commends before under one of my vids and to know that you decided to go for it and you are already on your 2nd year 😳👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 keep pushing gorl , before you know it you will be walking across that stage , you deserve this ! I am so happy to know I was able to inspire you ! Sending love ❤️❤️❤️
@@kaoubej2706 theres not a lot of math but you do have to fulfill your prerequisites before you start your actual dental hygiene classes. The DH classes are difficult but if you truly want to succeed, you will. I started the program at 20 years old with no dental experience and now I have one more semester left. I was stressed out 90% of the time but you have to fight for what you want !
Drop toxic unsupportive "friends"!!! That is so true! It's like u read my mind. I uploaded 4 (parts) videos on how I survived dental hygiene school. We literally gave the same advice lol
How long will you be in school I know some people say 2 years and some say 4 years but I only thought 4 years was necessary if you wanted to later on teach
@@tanzie6699 my college offered both associates (2yrs) and bachelors (4yrs ) but just recently they stopped offering associates (2 yrs) :( which i planned on taking And tbh i was veryyy discouraged but i think imma do it
You said a WHOLE WORD on the “Support System” tip! Some people don’t understand it’s competitive to get it, stay in & finish medical programs. If they can’t respect the boundaries then they gotta go! So nice to see a beautiful woman making it happen! Thank you for this, I’m in my first quarter of hygiene school & still trying to adjust to routines! ❤️
Jermaine Higdon dental assistants are really limited in what we can do in the mouth. We can polish, take x-rays, take impressions, make temp crowns. Also we assist the dentist with all procedures. Dental hygienists are allowed to do deep cleanings which require anesthesia, they can give numbing and take x-rays and regular cleanings.
girllll! I've been going through all your dental hygiene related videos these past few days and i can not tell you how much excitement you've built up in me. I've been considering dental hygiene since 2017 but life happened and I'm at it again now! waiting on a word from the school
Hello from Washington State! I just watched your video, and I must say it was very informational. I start my Dental Hygiene program June 26th and I'm nervous but excited! Thank you again for this video!
Watching this for the second time a year later got accepted into the hygiene program!😭 I’m so excited to start, thank you for sharing your tips with everyone. Starting this fall!😅❤️❤️
RDH Sis! This was so good. You and Jassy G are holding it down for the profession....i hardly slept at night while in school. But during the day, I'd doze off in class ALL THE TIME! Nonetheless I made it. Like you study groups werent really my thing but i would join them just to test each other after i did my studying. Hygiene school was definitely one of the highlights of my 20s
just started dental assisting school!! just in the meantime before hygiene school! i didn't get accepted into the program this current school year which is fine. you're right it is expensive! i'm almost happy i didn't get accepted, so now i can save up money! and unfortunately, my hygiene school is an hour away! :( i find out in april if i get accepted or not ! EXCITED good luck everyone :)
drvfterr Currently i need two more classes and then i can apply for dental hygiene program! My closest hygiene school is 45 mins away. i feel you! trying to save up just as much!! Good luck girl!!!
@@jenniibelle I actually got accepted in radiology technologist school instead and I graduate in a couple of months. I’m so happy I switched I was so burnt out of dental in that time of waiting and developed so many back issues. It just wasn’t for me I guess /:
Hey! I’m in my semester of dental hygiene school and things are so rough 😭 I’ve been referring to your videos a lot in the past few month! Thanks for all of the great tips!
Dashona Holt finishing up first year has gotten a lot easier! Honestly I’ve learned so much & really enjoy the program! Overall I’d it’s really important to have time management skills, and effective ways of managing a lot of stress !
Thinking about going back to school, really leaning toward dental hygienist for a career change. Iv been in the hair industry for 15 years. Im wanting to do something different. Your videos are a great inspiration and good advice. I hope to start my journey back in the fall
First of I love your videos! But please start mentioning us Men too. I’ll be starting Dental Hygiene tomorrow and I’m so excited for this new journey in my life.
Could you go more in depth about having to work 2 part jobs? How was your schedule and what type of work was it? I’m wanting to go to dental hygiene but I’m a mom and trying to figure out how I will pay my bills!
Absolutely obsessed with your videos! Your so motivational, inspirational, and educational 💕 watching your videos gives me butterflies about how blessed we are to have the opportunity to go into this career field. I’ve been beyond excited and blessed to be getting this experience of pre dental Hygiene classes as well as dental hygiene school for when I get accepted😇 keep up the great videos!!!
I’m loving these videos. I’m currently in the applying process to Hygiene school and all of these tips and videos are so helpful. Thank you so much🙏🏻💚🍀
I'm interested in becoming a dental hygienist and your videos have really inspired me to pursue that dream. I was doing research about the education for dental hygiene and it said that I'd still need to have continuing education requirements even after becoming a licensed dental hygienist. Could you maybe touch upon that and your experience with that? Thanks!
I just finished my first week of my DH program and am low key freaking out! Especially because my program is accelerated and is only 18 months!!! This took the edge off my anxiety a little bit 😅 thank you!!!
I hope I can do this, I’m doubting myself a lot not gonna lie. But I need to try for future me and my future family 😓😓😓 I dont even know if I’ll pass this HESI test
Any tips on how to make it financially through hygiene? I’m going into my third semester of hygiene and I’m starting to hate it because I’m so over whelmed !!!!
Isabel Duran community first then university. classes are easier and you won’t be in debt depending on your financial situation. I don’t owe anything. but it’s your decision
Jade Jackson thank you sis 💕 hair is from alipearl hair it’s their deepwave. Here’s the review I did on it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ERrXMzPtkEk.html
I would love to see a "first year working as an RDH" video. I am curious about your overall experience! I feel like some days I do really well, and others I am just making all kinds of mistakes lol I have been at it for about 3 months now!
I am a second your dental hygiene student and I am looking for some good apps to help me prepare for the national boards. What would you suggest? Did you use anything other than the board review book to study?
im a highschool junior watching this, i really hope i can become a dental hygienist in the future! Also sat after u take your pre req classes and you didn't get into the program what happens then?
Hey, I’ve been watching for a few years now. But in your opinion, do you believe with a accelerated bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene (2.5 years) will hinder me from from being accepted into dental school ?
I’ll be graduating with a bachelors in health science in February and then I’ll be working toward applying to hygiene school. Do you guys think it’ll still be a challenge going for an associates degree program after finishing an online degree ?
*I have about a 2 1/2 terms of pre-reqs left, and I'm so scared as to whether or not I'll even be able to get into the program. I know to keep my gpa high etc.* *Was it difficult for you to get in? Also, how in the world did you work 2 jobs??! lol*
Dasi Love I did the best I could taking the prerequisites and made sure I kept up with my gpa and I applied , just go for it , do what they require and take the shot ! I’m wishing you the best! And yes I had 2 jobs but then quit to 1 because it was hard ❤️💕
For me, it will be around the same time up to two years because I decided to pace myself being that I have kids and work so the work load of school on top of that for many people prevents you from taking a full 12 hrs each semester. Also, the required courses are around 50-60 credits depending on the school and location you are trying to get accepted into and you want to keep your grades up at that but with the amount of courses required and some courses require prerequisites for some courses, it’s not a fast journey. If you do full time, two years sounds about right but if you do like I did which was about 2-3 classes a semester it can take a bit longer.
I'm almost finished with my prerequisites for DH and it's taken 2 full years. You really want to pace yourself because your grades are SO important for your application!!!! If you score a low grade you need to retake the class. I'm happy yo say that my lowest grade was a 3.8 for my prerequisites!
