The problem with ITV is they only have a handful of successful presenters and shows that they milk to death and sacking Ant Mc Partlin could have killed off three of their biggest shows.

Not that this justifies it, but as you said, Ant was arrested, and held accountability for his actions. He did take a short break after that, but after his recovery, yes, he's back. In other words, he did his time, and is trying to move on. It's much different than when someone famous does something bad, but nothing at all is done about it.

Also Phillip doesn't seem remorseful for his actions and tried to hide it for years. There's quite a difference between what he and Ant did and how they reacted.

Ant and Dec could nuke the world and ITV would still send them to the jungle again for season 746

@@KanyeBreast4 Celebrities who left the BBC for ITV often found their careers went downhill. Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley had a really successful career presenting The One Show on BBC One and were promised some really big presenting gigs like the London Olympics. Instead they went to ITV for more money, hosted a useless breakfast programme called Daybreak that lasted a year, and their careers nosedived. Haven't seen Chiles since and Bleakley/ Lampard has only had limited success on ITV.

What I don't get is that he goes either 100% American or 100% Scottish. That's not how accents work! Also as an American can I just say that I always thought his "American Accent" sounded a little weird? The best way to describe what it sounds like to me as an American is something similar to "Text to Speech".

@Deb M Yeah, but Gillian Anderson doesn't go so heavy with either accent to the point where it sounds insulting. Gillian can play Judy Garland, Lucille Ball, and Marilyn Monroe, and it sounds exactly like the real thing. Gillian can do American accents right.

Many of his colleagues/staff said he was unpleasant to work with, so it seems the nice image he portrayed himself in was faked.

I feel worse for Holly. I looked at her Instagram last night and people are absolutely tearing her apart for every reason. Like she didn't defend Phil and then others are mad she didn't know or didn't speak out.

Yes what he did was very bad, it was grooming being intentional or not, but it seems to be a mutual arrangement so far. I read in another vid on the Angus Dayton HIGNFY scandal that Ian Hislop and Paul Merton thoroughly disliked Dayton. Not sure how reliable this is. But they seemed to have been looking for an excuse to get rid for while and the scandal presented a golden opportunity to destroy his credibility as a presenter. By pointing out that now he was embroiled in a scandal he wasnt really in a position to make fun of others on a show that sepcialised in making a laughing stock for such things.

The young man was over 18 when the affair started. Please get the facts straight. Phillip knew him from the age of 15 but that means nothing. I knew plenty of adults when I was 15.

Phillip knew the boy as he and his wife were friends with the parents, and he got the boy an interview and got him a job as a runner on This Morning when the boy left school. The boy was barely out of his teens and had less than 2 years experience in the world of TV (the affair started in 2016 when the boy was 20) and Phillip had been on TV for 31 years at that point. Of course its a huge abuse of power and likely illegal. He also lied to everyone. Denied it to ITV even though they investigated rumours about it as far back as 2020, lied to his co-presenter of 14 years, lied to his wife of 30 years (he always maintained to his wife that his toyboy was a 'friend') and lied to his children; his oldest daughter found out while at work at his former talent agency, minutes before the story broke publicly.

But I see that as being no different from nepotism which happens a lot in any industry. As for the lying, well when people embark on an affair of course there's lying! He's no different to any other person who's ever had an affair ie you lie to the people around you. Have none of you people ever considered the fact these two fellas may have actually loved each other?

Which is incredibly hard to establish as fact in a court case. A point in Phil's favour once the inevitable court case against him starts. Considering that as a well off man he will be able to afford the best lawyers to argue his case.

I'll be honest, I really was surprised that he was charged and found guilty, I liked him from what i saw of him on the telly and I wanted him to be innocent, I was abused and never got justice so when I heard of anyone being convicted, it lifted me up in a way. But he shocked me and that mugshot of him was very intimidating!
