Pls clarify why do we prefix an before hour when it doesn’t start with a vowel?
@english_with_aga

It’s because the H is silent so the first sound of ‘hour’ is a vowel sound

I have a question about first mistake u mentioned? Which one is more correct ? I am going to meet my friends Or I am meeting my friends?
@ChristopherHenry-pt7iq
@ChristopherHenry-pt7iq 10 дней назад
I am a native English speaker and, while her English is excellent, I can tell you that she definitely is NOT. Native speakers would say "I will meet my friends in half an hour." We also would use either of the other two forms that you asked about in your question. All 3 are appropriate.

I'm meeting my friend in half an hour. In my opinion, the very reason why non-natives are using the auxiliary "will" instead of the "am + __ing" form in the sentence above is the mixing of the real time with the grammatical tense. In other words, it should be emphasised that not always the past tense refers to the real past time (e.g., 2nd conditional) or the present tense refers to the real present time in the sentence.

@@english_with_aga Thank you Aga, I wanted to point out unfinished time in the Present Perfect sentense, that started in the past and still on going. I've never seen a video about the difference between, for instance, "in the last week" and "last week." These two show the different time frames! One refers to Pres.Perfect, an the second one to Simple Past Tense!💯👌⏳⏳⏳Thanks a lot Aga, I hope to see your video about time frames acceptable in Pres.PerfectTense. (" Since" and " For" everyone knows, I hope)!❤❤❤👍👍👍

You can. The meaning will be slightly different - more emphasis on it being your intention rather than an arrangement (compared to ‘I’m meeting’)

Thank you my best teacher in all times but I had another problem that is when I write in Google translate the sentence.. I am meeting my friend in 2 hour to translated to my language they already translated as feature .but when I refix the translate. They change the sentence to I will meet my friend after 2 hour and I think this means we the future in it is regular form more better. What do you think about that?
