Nice. I would add Life+, ground breaking video with filmaking and editing. VG20 The 1st big Chris Haffey section was Mind-Blowing. Also, I wonder if the new generation realise how Godly was Chris Farmer's skating. His big introduction in the Mindgame video with the two sections were jaw dropping. We worshipped him for the next 10 years. Kids should definitely watch his sections. The Vibralux team with trio Broskow - Farmer / Haffey was the ultimate rollerblader's wet dream 😎🔥

Top notch episode! I wonder why nobody never ever mentions "Transcend" by Beau Cottington from I guess around '98 in this kind of discussions, this was a great video with that epic part on Matty Mantz (with Fear of the dark by Iron Maiden LOL) where he got run over by a car... So now I got happiness formula - Hoax2 + Roces M12 + Sony Walkman + Offspring, Bad Religion and Downset = aggressive inline since 1996. And now Xsjado - one love. Love this post. Respect for the RTN shout. Negrete was always so ahead of the trends. Also I will always cite “The Adventures of Mr. Mooseknuckle” as the most groundbreaking video for rollerblading until BFG. It was the first video to have fishbrains, top acids, long balanced backslides, the unity and progressive switch ups like royale to alleyoop topsoul. It came out just a few months before VG4. It also had one of the few TJ Webber sections which is still one of the most stylish parts ever made (IMO). Other honorable mentions: Volume, Transcend, and Perspectives.

The first video I saw was "What do you believe in", Shima section, right in the begining I coudn't believe how someone could grind the "sidewalk guide"... And a few moments later I was in shock of how many huge tricks in there. From my top 10 list of videos that changed my perspective (setting a new bar). 1 - What do you believe in 2 - Brain Fear Gone 3 - Words 4 - Straight Jacket (I aways knew as KFC3) 5 - 4x4 - Leading the Blind 6 - 4x4 - Killerboots 7 - Fruitbooter and 2Feet (tied) 8 - EGO 9 - Game Theory 10 - Drip Drop I saw many late VGs, contest Videos like IMYTAs and Einsenbergs Hoedowns... Day of the rope (also for including BMX), 1131 and/or Freestyle Rolling (because |B|Unique was being unique back than). Also would like to see a summary of RECENT (last 10 years?) video's, including VOD's. We always look back to the haydays of blading, but more recently there are still good classics being made (cayenne project vid's, plastic pushers etc.). While I'm at it, may I suggest perhaps a video idea of all the nuts comps we had? IMYTA, barn burner, FISE, Winterclash etc.
@TomMoyse

Bangers! Yea thought about a VOD one. There is defo a tendency to lean into the haydays, for that reason, they were the haydays so videos where more impactful. I think the lack of social media also heightened it all. Lots of great VODS these days.
@ThatShaunBoy
@ThatShaunBoy Год назад
All the videos deserve to be there but I'd argue Mushroom Blading 1 (or their output in general) is THE most influential video to have shaped modern rollerblading. Imagine if MB didn't exist and who's skating now might look completely different or who would just not exist in the blading mainstream. The alternate reality would be really, really different. Certainly a lot more different than if KCMO hadn't existed (I do LOVE that video. I like 18plus more though and would consider that more influential, certainly in regards to curb skating etc)
@slingshotmcoy
@slingshotmcoy Год назад
Totally agree. It'd still be hammers and core grinds only if it weren't for Mushroom Blading and Leon Basin.
@TomMoyse
@TomMoyse Год назад
It’s an interesting one. They are staunchly into their style of skating and elements are very present in modern rollerblading, which is due to the adoption and re-representation of it by more prominent skaters. I don’t think it’s been fully or widely adopted in the same way that say Road to Nowhere Influenced skating. I think it’s rare you see full on Mushroom Blading by lots of people. It’s still quite fringe but maybe because they are so deep into it and the fact it’s had any influence is something. Haha I’m just rambling now
@ThatShaunBoy
@ThatShaunBoy Год назад
@@TomMoyse Good point and agreed. Although not many people have taken it as far as MB have it's still so widely prevalent (Basin with the wizards in Big Wheels 2, I mean he basically sparked a whole industry of big wheeled rockered frame companies). They're almost always given huge shout outs from the likes of Collin Martin, Kelso's, Torres and a lot of the big current trendsetters. Maybe the weirdness hasn't been picked up as much (not including Beer, Savosin, Robbie Pitts (?) etc.) but certainly pushing the boundaries of what is considered tricks or whatever (Dirtbox/Abel/Blackmore had a big impact on this too I think). Nothing taken away from Negrete's videos though, absolutely massively influential! Forever Now had me totally change my wardrobe and playlist lol!

Good recap-I really can’t quibble with your list, if we’re talking cultural impact/influence. While it doesn’t have that same influence, I’d argue that Concentration is sneakily one of the best videos out there in terms of tricks, filming, editing etc. As for videos released since the death of VHS/DVD, personal favourites are Sober, Spoke$ and some others I’m blanking on…the latest Chance of Rain one maybe

@@TomMoyse if we’re talking VODs then Devotion is the best one in my books. I don’t know how much cultural impact it can have, though, as it sort of exists on its own-it’s a huge signpost and achievement for what a section can be, but it’s damn near impossible for anyone to replicate or mimic something so tough and time-consuming.
