There are certain circumstances where we cannot avoid narcs completely. Such as the workplace, divorce court, etc. In those circumstances, you're very lucky if you are a super impath.
Know doubt the narcissist is in some kind of pain, who is'nt . " WHY I learned along time ago to never let my gard down around the narcissist." And the only time that they realize who they are is when they are bitter,hateful and very lonely. Please learne to love yourself
I don't consider myself a super empath but I did always pick up on body language that other people did not. I could always sense when he had ulterior motives and when he was lying. He always said he was not lying but then would slip up at a later date. When I called him out which was a lot I would get the silent treatment for days and sometimes weeks.
This video is pretty spot on. I wish the world to anybody recovering from abuse from these people. Family/significant other is hardest. Sending love to you. We are both on our road to recovery.
One thing that I stood out in this video, is pointing out whether they can tell true compliments from fake ones. There are some who are extremely good at hiding their false intentions behind niceties, and non narcissistic individuals can be the target of this as well.
I really like the matter of letting the narcissist know that you can see right through their whole act but that you care about them and have compassion on them. Don't take their bs, but don't dish it out either..be the parent so to speak, the adult, and teach them by your words and actions that you are a safe place for them to just be themselves.
Lindy, don’t be too “nice.” These people can give two effs about having a safe place to be themselves. As the saying goes, there is a danger with trusting. What you’ll end up finding out is that BECAUSE you likely accept people as complex beings, they will walk all over you. They will expose themselves to you and may sometimes share information that will make them overly vulnerable. Before you open that Pandora’s box, you better have an effective exit plan that will keep you and yours whole. Not all narcissists are made the same. Some you can give a .2 lollipop and get them to behave. Others, you can’t offer a diamond to get them to behave because they’ll take your diamond and your life. They are truly ugly I side. ✌️

I doubt they can distinguish a real compliment from a fake one. A gave a (narc) the fakest compliment you could imagine, was animated and everything. He recommended me for a certificate of achievement, which was not even a thing until he suggested it.
Spot On - I used to complete a number of staff disciplinary interviews as well as new employee applications. I have since shifted to online interviews for taking the seat of an Observer. I then have the opportunity to watch the interviewee's reaction to the questions. I have chipped some interviewers for not being consistent in asking questions the same way. I like to watch applicants reaction to discover their true self.
You do realize there is an interplay of power between you and the interviewee and that this power differential, when picked up by the interviewee, affects how they interact with you, right? They might suspect you’re the narcissist they need to steer clear of.

I don't know if I'm a narcissist, but I do have some traits. I destroyed my relationship with my girlfriend just because I got mad at the fact that she loved me. And everytime she said "I love you" hatred builds up. This is because I have some kind of defensive instinct that if you come too close to me, I start to hate and resent you for no reason. I dont know why this happens. I just hate when she says, "I love you a lot", "you're face is so pretty". Till one day when she said: "I love you so much and I just don't know why" I blew up and felt really angry and told her how I felt. I told her that I don't trust her, that I never loved her and saw her as someone who would kill my dreams. I don't know why she loved me or stayed. I never reciprocated her love back. I treated her somewhat mean. My cousin got angry at me for no reason. He told me that she was a nice girl, and that he knew her since 5th grade elementary. She was a beautiful blonde girl tho. Yes she is nice and beautiful. But he doesn't get it. Love isn't the answer to happiness. Love isn't something that will bring meaning to your life. It is something that keeps you from reaching your potential. Yes the sex I had was nice, but i soon realized something. She is trying to control me through her vagina. Because sex feels good and can be addicting, I would love her for that and do anything for her to get that sex. I realized that sex made me dumb. I wanted to get out. But she was a nice girl. Her personality and everything. So I broke up that one day. She was in denial. But, I already warned her to have a backup mate or boy. She didn't listen. I felt bad for hurting her feelings and telling her how I felt. I wish I just broke it off without saying anything. Second, I tend to shut people down when they talk to me and walk away to sit somewhere more peaceful. I have low empathy adn sympathy. I see my dreams of escaping to the promised land and living a life of finacial freedome away from people as a priority and anyone who stops me as a threat. My dream is to live alone, never be married, not reproduce. Invent something creative. I feel like there is something out there calling my name and I need to find out what I need to do in order for our species to go forward. I want to invent something but my mine isn't creative enough. I truly despise love. It's something that keeps us from technologically going forward. It's something that brings us back to the primitive age. THis world is only about pleasure. We need to learn to suffer, because that will make us happy. Continuous exposure to pleasure makes us miserable.

Selectively process it positively. Whether staying in the relationship or leaving has nothing to do with Whether you are negative or positive. They didn't control that you did. Are your feelings hurt, are they damaged. These are choices you made not them. How you process this is a you problem not an I will fix them problem.
