Hey! I'm Damian Keyes and I've worked with musicians every day of my life for the past 20 years. The internet is deeply untrusting understandably and here is my background so you can have the full picture.
When I was 18, I was signed to a major label (dropped 6 months later) and at 23 I co-founded a Music University in Europe called BIMM (valued at $300M). I’m also a bass player, I’ve played for a number of artists including Eric Clapton, Alanis Morrisette and Billy Cobham. I initially retired at 30, but realised that life gets boring if you’re not building!
I have always been in-between the music industry and education which is how I ended up building my RU-vid channel - I’ve been teaching artists how to release music long before it was a ‘niche’! I now educate artists around the world with my Academy, RU-vid channel and I work directly with labels internationally alongside owning a live agency and management company.

the only bad thing about the ^hold^ music is that you may get a customer that is angry at the company and your music instantly becomes part of the company that they are now hating....lots of good ideas, thanks!

Hello. I am a very recent subscriber. In fact I started to hear about a week, while working. instead of music I hear damien. I am the vocalist and composer of Times of trouble, a Portuguese band. I take care of all social networks, I make video clips, everything 😅. I found it curious, although this vídeo is from 2018 (i Just saw) the idea for music in the gym had already come to me and is on my to do list.

I have been watching your videos for the past 3 or 4 months. I subscribed and have watched most, if not all of your videos. I love it! Well I started my FB page about 4 months ago and I'm now at 4300 Likes on my page and a lot of that has been thanks to your advice. But as I am doing well at promoting my page, I'm struggling promoting my music on Spotify. What would be the best way to promote my song for more plays? Thank you for the great information, I know you touched base on DJ's, I am a HardTechno Producer and I also DJ. I am always looking for unique sounds to incorporate into my mixes. Also, I wanted to give you another Idea, I do a Podcast show once a week and I did it for nine months. This gets a bit much at times, so , I actually took some load off by starting once a month to feature guest spots. It gives me time off to do other things, its also a wonderful way that I have met some amazing folks and They get the chance to feature a hour of their stuff. I have one of the hardest likeable genres. . . So, have to work extra hard finding my niche. Thank you Damian for schooling me good. I appreciate this stuff.

It's all about being a bit cheeky sometimes and instead of thinking "They'll never say yes" just thinking "Who gives a shit if they say no, there's just as much chance of a yes!" and asking. We have NEVER been approached by bands. I just add new bands I like to the list.

Thanks a lot for all the great videos! I’ve been just listing to them as I work every day for the past week or so. I’ve been looking to start pushing some of my own music out but unfortunately I don’t have an actual band so I’m doing all of the writing and recording of all the instruments myself. This obviously doesn’t translate very well to gigs. Is there any way I could get a moment of your time for some advice?

Hello Damien. Thank you for your videos - honestly, super useful content! In this video you're talking about sharing your non-licensed music, but I always thought that it's musician's duty to register with PRS and PPL ASAP. And.. what then, does it mean all these independent coffee shops etc. won't be able to play my music? And in case you don't register with PRS, but send your music to different Sync Companies, will they be considering your music without PRS code? Thank you!

Awesome tips, I've got my notepad out now. I'm still confused about this PRS stuff though. How can my song be properly published on Spotify/Shazam without ASCAP/Soundexchange/PRS coming after the gym/shop/netradio for licensing fees? Do I reserve separate Creative Commons (or unlicensed) songs for vloggers? Is there a difference between license/copyright/publish?

Very true but it’s easy to remove the vocals and if you can get on vlog channels you can then either target the audience with along side so they have heard the song or just use the story on your socials.. still a good productive win 😊😊
