Thank you for going through the trouble and process of showing in detail how to join corners. I will be making raised beds this Spring and don’t have any of the fancy tools after number 8-just the basic ones. This makes me feel like my projects are doable and that I can do it on my own. What a relief. Your video inspired me. And I so appreciate all the detail. It’s the first one I’ve seen where the detail is given with such precision. Thank you, thank you, thank you!😊
Thank you so much!!! I’m starting a small wood hobby project ( hoping to sell) small pieces- this was the best straight forward video for me to understand: I have no experience so this is great. 👍
Hello, from Brooklyn, NYC. I can honestly say, most woodworking tips/hacks on RU-vid are not as thorough and straightforward as yours. I can tell you take a lot of pride in your work. Great music! Stay safe and be well.
Thank you for those kind words. As a hobby, I do carpentry in a small shed behind my house. The methods in the video may not be perfect, but they are helpful when making furniture or props for use at home. Thank you for watching my video, and I hope you will always be filled with happiness.😄👍
Thank you for such a helpful video. I no longer have a "honey do" and I feel intimidated by tackling certain projects. Your video has helped me gain the confidence I need to face them!!
I'm glad I finally found a carpenter who knows how to use wood glue! Every video on RU-vid the people glob the crap out of the glue making the sanding take 20+min. If you use the perfect amount there should be little to no drip.
Thank you for your valuable comments. I am still researching to adjust the amount of glue properly. As you said, if you use a lot of glue, you will spend a lot of time sanding. However, if you use too little, the adhesive strength will be weak. Thanks for watching. happy new year.😁👍
Thanks, too many videos pretend to show tips and use techniques quipment only the pros would have... but these are really useful to a newbie like me. Would love to see a method to do splines without a fancy table saw that many of us beginners wouldn't have.
Nice video! For anybody doing woodwork, it is better to use more glue than you might think you need. The most common type of joint failure is glue starvation, meaning not enough glue was applied. Clamping, screws, etc., take care of the excess glue. A wet rag can clean up the mess. As one improves, you can cut down on the amount of glue. In a joint, the edges do most of the work, so it is important to make sure that glue is spread throughout. I know there will be a keyboard warrior out there who will say, "Actually, the thinner the better because a one-molecule-thin layer of glue bonding wood to wood is theoretically the strongest." They would be right. But in woodwork, it is extremely difficult to get a perfect joint like that because of the nature of wood. A cut piece of wood will have surface height variations even if cut perfectly. When there is no squeeze out, you can't guarantee the entire joint was coated. Anyways, I digress. Use a good amount of glue and enjoy the craft, everyone!
Amazing video. We would like to show this video on our channel with your permission. We will add your link and your name will also be mentioned in the video. Let us know what you think
nice to meet you I am also a beginner in woodworking. I do it as a hobby in a small warehouse at home. I'm not retired, but I've sorted out my city life and moved to the countryside. I hope you are healthy and full of good things in the new year. Thanks for watching 😄👍
Abrazo....!!!
Cut using a table saw. It needs to be cut according to the thickness of the saw blade, but a jig is needed. It's kind of hard to explain in words. We'll show you a video next time.😃👍
you can make your own stylish ones by gluing layers of veneers, and lay the veneers at angles for a kind of 'ply wood' effect. This method I have used in picture frames where attention is paid to the corners
@@utubeape Oh that's really cool, I have used layers of veneer on classical guitar making and never thought about using in this type of joint, thank you for the idea!
Thank you! Another would be to measure all these connections for separation or load on the corner.
They all spin. Orbit is just a 2nd axis of motion. Orbiting is good, but random orbital is better. Significantly reduces the odds of you burning or marring a workpiece.
great but the glue should be put on the hole not on the pin so that the insertion of the pin distributes it correctly. By putting it on the pin most of it comes out
Method no. 10 is the most strongest joint already proven by many load experiments. BTW, 3:06 you are using wrong screws for pocket holes. Coarse-thread Kreg Pocket-Hole Screws works are used for pocket holes.
