You forgot the Jack Russell trembling... they tremble when they really REALLY want something, some mistake it for being cold or scared, but thats not why... often accompanied by the "silent whine" most Jacks do it....
yes we call that high whining … keening in our family. Certainly other dogs do that but when a jrt sets in to keening its like goes right through you! hahah
@@positano3290 that's odd, considering they're bred for hunting burrowing animals. My old pup (11.5 yr old) goes nuts whenever I grab a gun (cause he wants to come with me, not out of fear/anxiety)
My JR is also a sock bandit. He steals them and hides them underneath the bed. He seems extremely annoyed whenever I discover and retrieve the socks lol
My Jack Russell terrier puppy is the only dog that ever was allowed to sleep in my bed because I am a light sleeper. She does not disturb me at all. And goes to sleep instantaneously once we go to bed
I have been around and been owned by Jacks my whole life. They pay attention to your every move and mood. They offer as much love as they demand. How old is Luna? She looks like she's about 2½ or 3.
Watched this with a massive smile, laughing all the way through as my Archie(mini'jack 7 months old) does all this in abundance i was mentally going tick-tick-tick. We also had a JR for 12 years and exactly the same. Simply wonderful dogs and close to our hearts. He goes zoomie crazy especially after a bath without fail even after being out in the fields for hours, runs in and out of everyroom, every couch and inch of carpet. Yes 100%, moving around until the sweet comfortable spot is found then moving again just for good measure.
My daughter came up with this theory that the reason why they have to be in the bathroom with you is because you are with them all the time when they are going to the bathroom, so it just seems logical to them. Another weird thing is that they understand that laughing is a good thing and crying is a bad thing that they need to help the human out.
When my jrt pokes his nose in the door when I'm using the toilet, I wave him away and he goes and leaves me alone. I guess he is just checking on me. He's very curious about everything.
Talks & talks & talks. She never shuts up! I don’t think she even knows she does it but she is constantly growling, barking, singing etc. I love it actually. Feisty with loads of attitude, smart and loyal. Jacks are great little dogs!
I think the girls are more vocal than the boys - mine makes all kinds of funny noises, she is also incredibly loving but bossy she loves trying to get me to go to bed when she is tired!
Eddie is just as vociferous. Started when he was tiny and he would do a "snort" which over weeks developed into a growl or a bark. He also does the sad complaining when he is inconvenienced. I also adore all of his quirks and ideosyncrasies.
Having been parents of JR'S for many years , I must say they ARE the ultimate dogs! You failed to mention they don't know size. They will fight any dog to protect you. Any strange dog who comes around will know not to harm you. They will fight to protect you and them.
@@melindadendunnen9713 it's not hard work to give your dog attention and play time , if you want an easy pet that you hardly have to do anything for get a cat or fish.
Rewatching all your videos because they are so fun. All of the items you mentioned my little pup has. But one I would add is I’m disabled and my little jack although she’s barely 10 inches is very protective. If I fall over she will stay with me licking my face till I manage to get up. But on one occasion she ran off and alerted a police officer who came to my aid. I don’t know if others have found this but she is also super perceptive of people. We were out and someone saw me as an easy mugging target. Before he even reached me she sensed something I didn’t and bore her teeth growling, hair up and kept herself between me and him. The knife he produced didn’t faze her and she went for his ankle, in a circling and threatening manner till he ran off. Only time I have seen her do this. She normally adores everyone, other dogs are allowed to run off with her balls or frisbee without protest. She adores the attention of children but has been trained to go to the adults first to seek approval that it’s alright for the child to stroke her. They are truly an amazing breed which can master anything despite their size.
My JRT Cooper does almost every one of these. He wraps himself in his blanket like a baby and I get so tickled, because he does it so perfectly lol. He also licks my ears all the time, then slams his paw on my head when I try to move away haha! The zoomies are the funniest thing - you think they are going to hit a wall or table, but they duck around everything perfectly. He also whines and makes the cutest noise when he yawns LOL. My first one, Mufassa, wasn't as quirky as the one I have now but he had his funny habits. The permission thing I've never seen, because Cooper does what he wants, when he wants. When I try to get him to listen to my commands, he looks at me like, "Ha, nice try!" Lmao 🤣.
Definitely at least a zoomie per day, especially when she gets wet in the rain then comes back inside. Always sleeps under the blankets snugged against me as close as she can get, spends enormous amount of time cleaning our cats' ears and yes, whimpers and cries when she wants something she can't get. Best thing is when she sits on my lap to be scratched. if you stop scratching she throws her head over her shoulder and just stares at you until you start scratching again. Never had a Jack before but she's different than any other dog we've had and what a great companion.
Wow that is creepy. Brady does all those things. Most of all, on a walk, if he is cold and wants to go back in, I tell him “the sooner you poop, the sooner you can go back in”, he will immediately poop and head back home. We have wool Afghans all over the house. One of them is on a shelf 6” up - Brady pulls it off the shelf, drags it to the middle of the floor, mushes with it for at least5 minutes, circles around 10x, lays down, then gets up and walks away. Their sense of interior design is amazing.
Yes, mine turns about 5 to 10 times every time she lays down, as if she is looking for the perfect spot and if she doesn't do it right the first time she will get up and do it again, she doesn't sleep under blankets but she does like getting under or behind things. Yes! The zoomies will blow your mind and are hilarious. Absolutely want their way and have to be the center of attention, mine mostly wines when I cant play with her, it's never enough but shes worth every minute
I just recently adopted my baby.. all they told me is that she’s a terrier mix & they don’t know what she is but after reading these comments im almost 100% certain she’s a JRT.. she does all of this & has been loving to squeeze herself under all the furniture. she can only fit bc she’s a puppy tho lol. & also farts a lot. Idk if that’s a JRT thing though.
@@rubym6258 lol, when i first got Dory she was only 8 or 10 weeks, she was sitting in my lap and farted, i could feel it on my leg. She stood up and started looking where she was sitting as if she just sat on a whoopie cushion, i laughed so hard🤣🤣
I grew up with a JRT and my parents have 2 now. One thing I noticed with JRTs is they want to be included in every you're doing. One sit in the circle and stair at board games, chew a bone while we were playing TV or Video games, hold onto the rope swing, play hit wheels, nerf guns, hide and seek, bark at the rake during the fall, everything. Yes I would take her on walks, play fetch, etc, but she wanted to be involved in literally everything I did. It was a blast to figure out how to include her so she would stay happy.
Our Jack Russell used to run so hard while having the zoomies that he just ran sideways over the backrest of the large corner-sofa. He also had to be locked up in the bathroom on NYE because he got wild when he heard and saw fireworks. One time he managed to grab a burning ground bloom flower and burned his face. Since that evening he had to spent following NYE's locked up in the bathroom until the peak was over. Unfortunately he is no longer with us, he was 17 years old.
One day, My JRT "Patch" (a rescue) takes off out of the house, enters the neighbor's garage, then goes inside their house as if he was trying to terrorize them. They called the police. My JR casually trouts out their house and actually recognized the polices car out front and take off running, as he looks back at the cop care about every 7 steps of his flat out dash. He ran a full block to my friends house and was barking at the door. Thinking I was on my way, my friend let him in and opened his sliding door to his back yard where my JR went to hang out. My friend finally calls me and says "hey are you nearby, because Patch is here in the back yard. I told my friend what happened, and I could hear my friend laughing so hard he dropped his phone. So many crazy stories about this guy. He's a bizarre dog let me tell you .lmao
I had Chihuahuas most of my adult life. I now have what I THINK is a Jackhuaha he definitely is DIFFERENT than BUT VERY Similar to Chihuahuas (ear licking, sleep position, high energy, craving attention, etc) BUT MY DOG NOW JUMPS like hes on a trampoline, LOVES toys (chews them up) but LOVES them...good with baths BUT ALSO loves to roll himself around in grass 😰 I guess he likes smelling like dirt/grass. He does everything you talk about which leads me to believe he definitely has Jack in him💯
My female would love laying on the pool deck belly up sun bathing for hours. Couldn't leave the pool vacuum hose out because she would dry hump it until exhaustion. We lost her last April after 17 years. Ww miss her daily. She was a gift from a very good friend who raises them. We were promised the pick of this year's litter. We're excited!
I have to say my boy does the very same things, oh but I loooove him and he makes me laugh and makes me exercise and the love is the very best, you have to be so alert with these guys but he makes me feel 72 years young
My JRT is a WHINER too! Glad you said that because I thought it was only mine. Plus, I call Opie a KILLER dog. We live in GA and anything that jumps, crawls or flies around our yard is a gonner! And in the house too. He can spot a tiny spider from across the room! And of course it’s a gonner too! They just don’t have a chance with a JRT around. 😂 Love your channel! Keep making those great videos for us and we’ll keep watching. ❤️
Our dog is also called Luna and she sits outside looking for thing so kill. She is death to snakes and we have no rats any more. We have lots of small lizards but the only ones still around are very aware of her and fly up the walls when she is around.
Nyles has the rips (zoomies) when happy. He loves his many toys but has to do a squeakotomy on the new ones and then shreds the toy. He doesn't do that to anything else. He definitely has to burrow under the covers sometimes face out or not at all. Hardest dog I have ever trained bc they know what you want but sometimes they just want to be independent! But my favorite to watch him is when he runs and leaps into water...all 4 paws straight out and flying like superman! It is a JRT trait. They are tougher than nails and will take on anyone or anything that would try to harm me or himself but otherwise loving and independent. Love this dog. He is now 14 years old and still going strong with a little gray in his handsome face now. I have had him since he was 7 weeks old.
Mine is so submissive in the am. His ears go back and he wine's cause I'm getting up. He will lay under the blankets while I have coffee. Adorable. Love your show
Our JRT, Lucy meowed when she yawned. Our Eli sounded like a baby alligator when he yawned. Both had so many nicknames but still answered to the nicknames! Each one knew their nickname(s). Best dogs ever!
I rescued a stray dog from Puerto Rico, she definitely has jack Russell in her and something else. She’s very attached to me bc I rescued her and she hadn’t had a person in her life in a long time. The vet says she’s probably about three and she was chained up at an abandoned house for at least 8 months living off beans and rice scraps the neighbor would leave her. She doesn’t do zoomies, but she’s learned how to play from my very sweet coonhound x Husky who loves to cuddle under blankies, but she doesn’t get under the blankets very often unless she’s very cold. It’s much colder here than what she’s ever experienced
Pretty much everything you named my now 12 week old jackie does. He's a pistol & a bullet. Already dug 3 deep holes in my yard, viciously chased a squirrel up a tree. Amongst all kinds of other quirky things he does. He's a little nut. He's fearless. I keep him gated in a large kitchen for 9 hours during the weekdays (I hate it but have to work) with plenty of toys, chew toys included. I've been walking him everyday. Don't seem to tbwart off all his energy. Lol And play with him. Tug of war, fetch. You name it. But I love your videos. Thank you.
I am on my second JRT. My first one was a female. Smart as hell. Never needed a leash to walk her. She obeyed what you told her. There would be times, you would look for her and she would be at your right heel. Great mousers. She could find mice in walls, under snow. Great dog.
When we picked up our 2 Jacks I told my wife absolutely no dogs in the bed !!! 17 years later same dogs still in the bed . I have only ever had Jacks all have been working dogs and lived beyond 16 .My current dogs now in retirement like myself, still get 2 walks a day like clockwork they know when it's walking time to the second. Today I am packing the RV for vacation, they know exactly what is happening and will sit by the door and not settle until in the travel cage . Best dogs ever !
@@positano3290 Regrettably since my last post we sadly lost both of our jacks 5 weeks ago . Both went in the same week .They were born in the same week as well. As regards to a long life lots of exercise, don't underestimate the amount of walking/running a jack needs. Food wise a complete dry food for working dogs supplemented with chicken especially popular. The little lass would watch it cooking through the oven door. Can't write anymore as I can't see through my tears Keep up the great channel.
@@positano3290 Thank you for the kind words. They will not be the last jacks in our life methinks. Maybe next year after our Scotland tour. God bless kind regards Bob.
10/10 😂 I love Jack Russells! Best dogs out there! I trained my JRT to be kind to all animals, though. She just passed, hence the past tense… Best little friend I could have asked for - she was amazing! She cared so much about what I wanted/liked, making her stop hunting other animals was actually guite easy 😁 That may be part of why they make such excellent companions: they’re so attentive!
I had a beautiful Jack Russell called Whizz Bang or 'Whizzy.' I lost her last year, she was only 10. Absolutely broke me and six months down the line, I'm still heartbroken, losing my best friend. She did all of what you said and more. She didn't like any animal, large or small. Apart from being my shadow, everywhere I went she was right there with me but the most unusual thing was, she never ever pooped in our yard. Never in the 3 short years we had her. Always waited for her walk. I do miss her so. 😔
The licking is insane, Trixie knows not to lick people but she cleans our Labrador’s eyes and inside the cats’ ears. So funny when the cats do it back you can see their rough tongues are uncomfortable by the look on her face but she puts up with it out of politeness
I'm intrigued, how do you get your dog not to lick people? She knows not to lick my face but still tests it out every once in a while, and I just gave up with my hands and arms. I think it's gross, but I felt like I was denying her the ability to express her feelings and felt super bad after a while... Also I just couldn't train her out of it like I did with so many other things.
@@heritage.home.crochet I told her off for doing it and she doesn’t like it when I show my disapproval, however gently. My Trixie is very sensitive for a JR, understands ‘no’ and ‘naughty’ said in a stern way, that’s all it took.
Yes, yes and yes to all of them! Poppy is just six months and she does all of the above! Everything is on her terms, she'll growl if everything isn't 100%perfect ! The other odd thing she does ..is with her food bowl, after she's eaten- she picks up her empty bowl and takes it to her bed & sits with it!? This is our third Jack Russell & the only one that's ever done this! She loves the adventures too- not really interested in walking along a street, but in woods, sand dunes and fields she trots along all happy with herself! P.s she looks just like your dog, only younger xx keep the vids coming xxx 👍
Recently found this channel and you already have me laughing. Had my first jack in the late 80s, saved a jack/dach mix 15 yrs ago. Have you gotten and butt wiggle when she wants something, especially when you're eating and wants your food? I laughed when you said yes wants to get her way. Forever a 2yr old. Thanks for being here
My Jack scoots around when she doesn’t want to do something. I call them her broken legs- she drags her back legs when she needs to go something that’s not her idea 😂
I recently lost my Jack Russell, he was just shy of 18. He did a lot of weird things, but one of the weirdest was backing up to things to poop on. He'd back up to tree trunks, snowdrifts, and the landscaping blocks, whatever he could find. Really weird but funny.
Our Jack R. sleeps between us on the bed with her head between the pillows. The covers are up to her neck and she puts her rear-end up against one of us and lays her head against the other's shoulder. That way she knows which one of us gets out of bed first in the A.M. so she can go outside and chase something in the backyard as soon as possible. :D
Just adopted an eight year old. Her humans were both deceased. I’m use to having labs and pugs. So this little girl is quite a treat. She was a bit confused when she first got here (who wouldn’t be?) but she quickly found my bed. All is well! Only dog I have known who has no interest in toys.
Yes! It feels like I have a toddler in the house. Mine also does not like it when I make changes like moving furniture around. He will sit in front of it and cry until I move it back.
When we changed the sheets our jack would always run in and get on the bed. Insisted on being made into the bed then would fall onto the side like a hammock
My jack is very social with just about everyone in our family, I and my wife’s side, but my son and my brother brings out the laser-beam stares and it doesn’t end until they leave
