There are 7 billion people in the world, I think we can afford to not have kids if we don't want any. Better yet, how about we adopt all those orphans pro-lifers left behind?

All of those dislikes make me so uncomfortable. Does society not agree with this? Are we still in the middle ages?

What a pointless list: no power, earthly or otherwise, could compel me to endure even a platonic relationship with someone who respects these rules.

I grew up hearing such things and witnessing poor treatment of women in the Southern Baptist church until I was around 14 years of age. That is the point where I finally woke from my sleep and rejected the indoctrination that my parents were placing on me. There is nothing that can add more value to my life than a smart and sexy woman, and one that I can value her opinion.............Hallelujah

Isn't it amazing that it's only on videos about women's rights that people go "Well yeah BUT..."? You wouldn't see any of that if this video was about the rights of gays/LGBT people, or racism. But when it's about women being treated like people and not cattle, people have to go "Well yeah BUT-" "I'm not sexist BUT (in fact I am)".

I was recently in a internet text discussion with what eventually became several young male Muslim with the topic being women and Islam. Dr. Kim's advice sounded like something each one of the Muslim men would say.

So I should marry a jobless, silent, young, plain dressed, who never wants to travel and only wants kids? That's a boring ass relationship if you ask me.

This is one of the saddest things I have ever heard. I am a stay at home mom. BY MY CHOICE. Nobody should be compelled to take a path in life they dont want. Perhaps, if I had more than one child I would have gone back to work. Perhaps I'd it hadn't take massive amounts of medical intervention I would have gone a different route. As it is, I wouldn't change a thing. At times it's been boring. At times, I've wished I was bringing in an income. I have second guessed my choices dozens of times. But it always came down to, this is where I want to be. I can't imagine the horror of a person, man or woman who didn't want to stay home being forced to do so. The resentment alone would make parenting difficult. Last time I checked, life doesn't come with a blueprint. There is no one true way to do this. Life isnt one size fits all.

So basically, according to this pastor, the best type of woman is a simpleton, who has never violated absurd religious doctrines (i.e. never divorcing), who conforms to your commands. As a man, I would find such a woman painfully banal, and not worthy of getting into a relationship with.

Older, divorced, unbelieving feminist woman who dresses herself sexy, talks a lot about anything except children and with a successful career on a job that requires lots of travelling wanted for marriage.

I originally produced this video to highlight the tragic perspective that many Christians have in regard to women, and to state clearly that this kind of patriarchal superiority cheats a woman out of her value, her equality as a human being, and out of the opportunities for a rich, full life on her own terms. Almost immediately, the pastor's recommendation to avoid "The Feminist" began to derail the train into a frothing cage match on the subject of feminism. I shouldn't have to explain this, but I will. Feminism in this context refers to the long (and necessary) fight for equal rights. Those who act blind to the challenges women have faced in the home, in the workplace, in the voting booth (when they were finally allowed access), and in often male-dominated cultures discredit themselves if they claim to be a champion of human rights. I've heard the "Myth of Male Power" protests, and they're almost always made by guys who think it's merely a coincidence that the USA has never, in over two centuries, had a woman in the highest public office. Women are so often objectified as things to be grabbed, captured, dominated and kept in their place. And feminism has had an important role in breaking through and past the superiority complexes of those who equate greater physical strength and size with entitlement, or who buy the canard that God created the female for the purpose of submission. Now, just as I don't define atheism by the cranks, the jerks and the Fuck You Brigade (who often make real change more difficult), I don't define feminism by those who've moved from a justifiable pro-woman stance into a toxic anti-man one. In every group, movement, family or culture, we'll have the good and the bad, the productive and the destructive, the helpful and the hurtful. This is a fact in a world of fallible human beings. But none of that changes the fact that, by definition, "feminism" is something worth supporting: "the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social and economic equality to men." Yes. That's it. And you can call it what you wish (I like humanism, but feminism works as well). Does this mean that I think women are powerless or weak? Absolutely not. Do I think women should be given a pass for lousy behavior simply because they're women? Again, absolutely not. (This would be yet another form of sexism...ignoring or excusing actions based on gender.) And do I think that sexism is always at fault when a woman isn't chosen for a role, position, job, promotion, etc over a man? I do not. But it happens. Historically, it has happened to women more often than men. And in the context of human rights, even once is too often. By supporting feminism, I simply acknowledge the challenges women have faced (and continue to face) in important aspects of society, and I encourage my friends here to resist the temptation to reject a worthy idea because you feel that, somewhere, someone waving the feminist flag acted poorly and left a bitter taste in your mouth. You have a pleasant voice to listen to and as a Christian woman I didn't feel as if you were talking down to me. Self-sufficient and independent women are scary to many guys. They naturally gravitate to misogynistic religions to justify their desire to control and suppress their spouse. I admire such women. A marriage or domestic partnership needs to be egalitarian and mutually respectful.

I think, on almost all accounts of which woman NOT to marry according to this pastor - I find the woman I actually would marry! (certain types of " _feminist_ " I would however like to substitute with *humanists* )

Many people are still afraid of being free. Men and women who prefer to live under an illogical set of rules because they feel they get some kind of protection. But anyone who sells his freedom for safety in the end will not have any of them. Being human isn't about living safe, but to deal with challenge every day at every level. And this is too much for many and they let others to think for themselves which is so sad!

Loved this! I’m so tired of the “men have never had it easier” bunch. They’re often the same assholes who tell me ableism isn’t a real thing. Trust me, it’s alive and kicking.
