For somebody who covers the nba, that was a lowlight for this page.. not a huge russ fan but you know exactly what he brings to the court and why he is regarded as a future hofer. People act like the lakers season is his only season 🤦♂️
If you watch Russ in the last few games he has been very good defensively which Has surprised me because last year he was horrible. I think he will slowly regress through out the year defensively because he will put in less effort. But we’ve learned that when he tries he is a force defensively

@@gusbus1973 yep, look at Draymond Green for the best example. Dude is easily one of the best defenders has ever seen yet people clown on him cause he can't put up 10+ points consistently. Fans claim they want defense, yet hate any defensive specialist at the same time.

Trae is 6 foot 1 compared to Curry being 6 foot 3 which is not that bad. Did you know that when you gain muscle your ability to shoot gets put into jeopardy. It would be better if Trae just guards the worst offensive player on the other team. Trae is also super light.
Two worst body types that will almost certainly be poor defenders in the NBA are stick -figured, short point guards AND big, lumbering 3 point shooting stretch 4's and 5's. Those guys have limitations based on their physique, but even they can play good, helping, disciplined, position defense. Anyone who doesn't have those limitations and is nonetheless playing poor defense just isn't giving the required effort and needs to take a seat at the far end of the bench.
I don't respect anyone who doesn't play defense or give effort to that side of the floor. No defense = no winning = no championships If you dominate on the offensive end, you'll always be less skilled than the dude who dominates BOTH ends of the floor in my eyes (that would make guys like Stockton, Kidd, GP more skilled than Kyrie and Pippen, Bird etc. more skilled than KD)
Hes 1st in steals and deflections for a center and was top 6 in defensive rating with a below average defensive supporting cast. I think its fair to say he's atleast decent or barely passable

Some of these bad defensive players expend so much energy on offense! Alot of the worst defensive players are big men that get dunked on,they sure can't guard off the dribble,those types are there for rebounds,easy buckets!
You really could have said "everyone on the Jazz not named Gobert" as a collective worst defender. They were all SOOOOO bad in the 2021 and 2022 playoffs.

I dunno..jokic is ok too good on D, and in his prime, Tristan was very good on D, and dude...rudy is very good on D in paint. many centers are horrible to ok to good on perimeter (sans Draymond who can guard 1-5 and on perimeter). Rudy should be off this list of worst defenders

Misinformation with the Lakers bit. They actually could have kept Alex Caruso even after the Russ trade. They just chose not to pay him even after he recommended a compromise on the contract.
Ik nobody gonna say it because I’m prolly the only kings fan here, but Sobonis is better then most think on D, especially recently. Just because he doesn’t block a lot of shots he doesn’t get the credit. He’s not elite or anything, but he’s not that bad.
