Let’s not forget that horrible Kane kidnapping Lita and marrying her through Stockholm syndrome angle. Apparently according to Lita herself Glenn Jacobs did not like ANY of it and actually put a lot of the more heinous ideas down immediately out of respect to her.
Glad they mentioned the Roberts-Lawler angle. The fact they had Lawler use real alcohol on Roberts was disgusting. You do NOT do that to someone who has struggled with an alcohol addiction.
The irony (or should that be hypocrisy) of WWE booking that Piggy James storyline is that when they had Michelle McCool and Layla bullying Mickie James over her weight (which in itself made no sense, since Mickie looked great!) is that at that time WWE was involved in an anti bullying campaign.
To be fair, Lita was forced to do the Live Sex Celebration, expressing her distaste for it to Vince enraged Vinny Mac. Hell even Edge and John Cena tried to intervene on her behalf but it ended in an ultimatum of "Everyone participates or Lita is fired." Which is why Vince McMahon shouldn't have any power whatsoever in WWE and be released from his duties as soon as possible or get humbled by is son in law. :3
i seem to remember Randy Orton stating that he was really unhappy with the line about Eddie being in hell. honestly there is probably a LOT of promos or lines different superstars were made to say that they hated... like vince making Michael Cole say somebody was suffering from "anal bleeding" which you could tell bothered both him and good ole J.R.
Yeah, the idea that DDP would be interested in meddling in Taker's marriage while being married to Kimberly still boggles my mind.. in an era with more nonsenical storylines than ones that had logic behind them, that one stands out a LOT.
I thought it was quite wrong to have Calloway's then-second wife involved in such a creepy angle, but it was surprising when it was revealed to be DDP.
Stone Cold vs Hall was a rush job but built better it could have been great because Hall/Razor was the original anti-hero, trouble was after WCW Hall's star power didn't match Stone Cold's but had they built up Hall as the original renegade rather than just part of NWO it could have been hot. Sadly with Hall felt beneath Austin at the time and neither were into it. Sad thing is long after both retired Austin had Hall on the podcast and absolutely loved him, he seemed to genuinely regret not getting to know him sooner, under different circumstances they could have worked together a lot
Part of the problem was Hall's personal issues were creeping up again. That's why Nash didn't have a match scheduled at that WrestleMania, in case he had to fill in for Hall.
Yea in retrospect Edge, Lita, and Matt Hardy were so forced to do the angle for ratings. Like Matt got fired for telling the truth, he was probably done with the whole thing
Oh he was Matt was literally sick about that storyline and what's worse he and Edge at the time was best friends and that really hurt him that his friend and girlfriend had an affair behind his back how Vince fired him for being honest was the dumbest thing
Chaz quitting that angle on air was scripted when they realized that the fans hated the Beaver Cleavage angle and opted to axe it live on tv to make a story where Chaz wrestles as himself.
He really did he was so upset about that line that Rey and Vince and I think HHH had to console him backstage Rey told him " hey man don't feel bad about that trust me if Eddie was here he would have wanted you to say that"
While the whole Piggy James storyline was absolutely mean-spirited, Vince and the writers must have thought the audience forgot about it when the bully/mean girl aspect resurfaced in the buildup to the RAW Women's Title Match between Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax at WrestleMania 34. Of course, it made Mickie look like a hypocrite since she was talking crap about Nia, too, after being bullied herself eight years earlier by LayCool. 🤦♂️
They had Mickie beat Laycool for the titles in that storyline, and they had Nia beat Alexa for the belt at WrestleMania, so that showed a conquering of the bullied victims. It was obvious
10: Vince's Idea 9: Vince's idea 8: Vince's idea 7: Vince's idea 6: Vince's idea 5: Vince's idea 4: Vince's idea 3: Vince's idea 2: Vince's idea 1: Vince's idea.
Have you created a billion dollar company? Has your company allowed dozens of other companies to start up and pay employees simply to critisize your company? Clarity and perspective would you out.
besides being tasteless, the kurt/booker/sharmell angle was also very racist. kurt said he wanted to have bestiality sex with sharmell. why, because he's an animal, or is sharmell an animal? this of course was vince's idea thinking kurt dating black women is some kind of odd fetish.
Another thing I absolutely have to say: Nothing gave me more joy today than seeing Woken Matt Hardy slowly creeping up on the cringe "Live Sex Celebration" 🤣
Honestly, since Hogan vs Austin wasn't going to happen. Savage should have returned and part of the NWO to have Austin vs Savage. The way Savage can pull off an amazing match probably would have been the other fan screaming main event of WrestleMania 18.
I remember the Hardy, Edge, Lita love triangle storyline, it was so bad, Matt came out during one of Edge’s matches and called him by his real name, Adam
I don't care what anyone says, I LOVED psychopathic Kurt. After being either a goofy heel or a corny lighthearted babyface, it was an absolute enjoyment to see him booked as a ruthless, lethal villian who was as sadistic in the ring as he was outside of it.
Vince McMahon and his "creative" team have got some very sick and twisted minds. Can you imagine the story lines that didnt get the go ahead or that we've haven't heard about. Could you imagine if vince didn't have the WWE and the wrestlers to act out his little fantasies.
The worst one was when Stephanie was pregnant with his granddaughter and wanted to write that he was the father and not Hunter (Triple H) he actually wanted an incest relationship with his own daughter 😒
I heard about that one cos when she said no he then suggested Shane be the father. WWE has always had some crazy and outrageous story lines but Vince definitely takes things to the extreme.
No way Rock vs Hogan was literally one of the greatest matches in Wrestlmania history in terms of how insanely the crowd reacted to it, absolute Goat level storytelling & in-ring psychology, character work that was in the match. No way some tag team match could have matched that epicness.
I suffered through substance addiction for a large chunk of my life. I'm good know and am fine talking and joking about it. And would probably be fine using it as a storyline if I was a wrestler. But you poor legit whiskey in my mouth, we are throwing hands. Don't care who you are, we have to fight. No other option
I always hated the diamon dallas page wwe angle with undertaker. He was so fun to watch in wcw and they just completely and utterly ruined any use of him in the company
Whats funnier? That somebody who created a billion dollar company and is the only live action TV show to go as long as WWE has and has internet peeps constantly whine and say how bad his ideas were or that every single promotion on earth has terribly distasteful storylines but we love to focus on Vinny mac instead haha.
Re: The Ric Flair & Lacey Evans angle - I don't have a problem with May-December romances, but it would be nice if the May and December were in the same century. (I know, that was wicked bitchy...but you still laughed.)
Page's WWE character was a generic babyface fighting to the top and it worked in WCW and it would've probably worked in WWE too if they didn't mess it up
Honestly, I think the angle could have actually worked out had they kept up the storyline that DDP was trying to play mind games with Undertaker, as he had alluded to in his initial WWE promo, but instead they made him look like a pervy creeper and then a joke when they buried him afterwards. All in all, it probably would have been better if they had never done the whole gimmick to begin with, but there were ways to make it work and WWE utterly dropped the ball on that one.
People are complaining about these storylines. Ya think Vince wanted to piss himself in the middle of the ring, get his ass kicked in a hospital in his underwear, fall of steel cages, get his bare ass literally whipped by Stone Cold, get excretion poured on him or get his face shoved up Rikishi & Big Show's ass? I don't think so. But wrestlers would complain about doing the smallest odd storylines. Sometimes, you gotta suck it up and do what you don't wanna do. Welcome to the real world.
@@INFERNO95 welp, wrestling is not Disneyworld where everything magical & positive happens to you. If you bump into a situation you don't like, suck it up and make the best of it.
I absolutely, positively, thoroughly believe that Vince had no qualms about doing ANY of that, and likely wanted to do much of that on his own free will. From the stories I've heard about him, I don't even hold a shadow of a doubt. And, as serenqueen said above, everyone did the things in this video. These weren't hypothetical situations.
You know what though. You all remember those storylines don't you. As much as you want to pearl clutch they left a lasting impression and that's what its all about.
As cringy as a lot of these are , the Mickey James storyline was not interesting , fun or nothing . That's part of the reason why the divas division has to be revamped , part of why it worked .
