I hope you would be able to smoothly go through Academic role to enjoy DPA exemption. I would like to hear about your epxerience of it ( how to apply for it and what qualifications we need to have to do that academic role, and pors & cons of it) a few months or a year down the line if it is okay with you since that is what I want to do when I move from the UK to Aussie.
