The ironic thing is by Lucas chickening out on this idea (if true) it basically keeps Jar Jar as the most powerful Sith in the galaxy since he never gets discovered and killed by the Jedi.
It would be a mix of funny and awsome to see him in a bar explaining this to a hero then says "no one will believe you I've gone this long without being discovered" then just walks away
When I was watching the "Phantom menace" for the first time as a child, I thought he's the regular Hollywood comedic side kick. That was until I realized that my parents are awfully quiet. I turned to them and asked "What?". My mom didn't answer me she just asked my dad, "Did you saw that?". "Yep. The "Drunk monk" technique." He answered. My mom was a Judo fighter and my dad was a huge Bruce Lee fan. From that moment I knew there was more to him that he was showing. Darth Jar Jar fits perfectly.

It started as a theory first based on clues in the first episode then eventually proven to be true by early episode 2 script and story board. It has been proven to be true and Lucas pulled it after huge backlash over jar jar as a character.

How many edits, rewrites, and scrapped scenes don't make it into the final edit of your favorite book? Are those versions of the book canon just because they were written? There is also a scene in Season 1, Episode 12 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars where Jar Jar would accidentally kill multiple people. One of the pirates would then say: "He's no representative. He's a PLAGUE!" And when he said that, Jar Jar would look very scared.
There's also the one where he goes with Padme to...I think it was Rodia? Padme, once again failing to fool anyone that she wasn't fucking a Jedi, had some of Anakin's spare robes. Jar Jar borrows one, sneaks in and runs into some Separatist leaders, who take one look at a hooded figure with GLOWING YELLOW EYES, and run like hell.
This theory also explains why the actor playing Jar Jar in 'Phantom Menace' got severe depression. Imagine you're told that you are playing the titular character of the movie - the phantom menace - but due to OT fans being fucking boomers your role in the later movies is reduced to an after thought.
I'll be honest, but I think the way that SW fans reacted to a lot of the Ot/Pt content is part of the reason why Disney is treating Star Wars the way it is. Like, dont get me wrong, Disney is trying way too hard to be woke, but they probably saw a lot of the crap that was being thrown around back then and decided that SW fans were too stupid to have anything other than a direct assault put in their faces.

There is a comic where a Clone Trooper sees a hint that Jar Jar is pretending to be a fool. In the Comic, a Jedi is killed during the Clone Wars and drops their Lightsaber after being slain by a bunch of Droids leaving Jar Jar alone. Jar Jar picks up and ignites the blade and then "Fumbles" with it "Accidentally" killing 5-6 droids and then stands there menacingly while holding the saber when he thought no one was around. Then when a clone stepped out of the bushes he "Fumbles" and drops the saber and trips over his own feet. ALSO, in the Clone Wars TV show, Jar Jar has the queen of a Force Sensitive alien race madly in love with him and in one of those episodes he even pretends to be a Jedi to scare the separatists.
Originally Jar Jar was meant to be like The Mule from the Foundation series; a jester/ fool character who was in actuality the one manipulating the minds and people of the galaxy against the heroes.
I remember another guy talking about this theory and they brought up a book in which a godlike evil trickster plays with the protagonist like they’re a toy. The trickster’s name was: Binks.
There's also a theory that goes into this one based on the name of Episode 1:The Phantom Menace. The Phantom part is not the Sith in general, Jar Jar is the Phantom you never notice behind the scenes., while his machinations are the menace you never see coming.

@nuxanor they actually had a comic in which a clone insults jar jar continuously while he watches from the shadow. He then saves that clone from death with a lightsaber in a episode of unusual seriousness and anger for jar jar. Then seemingly goes back to being goofy as if it was all an accident.

I forgot the name of the book but there is a story about the fool named binks, he plays the fool but he is actually like Aizen, the character in the story well his name is Binks. its theorized that Jar Jar is literally based off of this character
This isn't the full Darth Jar Jar theory this isn't counting all the crazy stuff Darth Jar Jar did in The Clone Wars. Darth Jar jar converted whole planets over to The Republic & put them under Palpatine's Control. This is an incomplete Darth Jar Jar theory.
Theirs also a moment in the comics where clones were protecting him and started complaining about how useless he was in secret. Jar-Jar was hiding in the shadows listening. Then during one fight, the clones were surrounded and a Jedi was downed. Suddenly Jar-Jar comes out of nowhere done flawless lightsaber techniques and downs the entire droid platoon ending it was a Form V stance. The Clones are in stunned silence and then Jar-Jar trips and drops the lightsaber going back to his bumbling self. Jar-Jar wanted to command respect from the clone troopers while simultaneously convincing them it was a fluke and embarrass them.

@@sketchtherapy1218 The Clone Wars has a bunch of it. He does incredibly high jumps too, not to mention that one time he just so happens to fell on the waters and "befriend" a big underwater creature. And don't even get me started when he wielded a laser and was able to shoot with almost no recoil.

I have a strong suspicion that Jar Jar was meant to take Count Dooku’s role in AOTC. This adds narrative significance to Naboo in the sith grand plan. Having jar jar being the leader of the confederacy makes too much sense. I have a feeling this plot point was abandoned due to the negative backlash of the fans after the phantom menace. George opted to develop an entirely new character specifically tailored for the actor Christopher Lee who was in talks for a star wars role for a while.
Lucus is a fucking coward, if the original plan was to have JarJar be the head Sith Master, he should have stuck with it. Everyone already hates Jar Jar? Palpatine was the Senate, Jar-Jar is the Republic. He placed Palpatine in that seat of power, Jar-Jar manipulated the events to get Anakin where he needed to be and everything Palpatine had was given to him by another power. I imagine that in the original plan Palpatine would have betrayed Jar-Jar so that he and Anakin solely ruled the Galaxy. A classic tale of the Sith apprentice becoming the master

But then Rian Johnson decided to shit all over that character. I think he was the only one laughing, good for him.
@@Sandlund93 the Sequel Series was plagued by “good concept and poor execution” so many aspects were good on paper but so poorly done that none of it was good. Snoke was a fascinating Sith Lord and then they did nothing with him, some people thought the giant hologram we saw of him was actual size and people got thinking “what if their was a Sith Lord that was a giant” the fact Snoke could force throw individual soldiers from systems away was scary. Captain Phasma could have been something, Kylo Ren being the Anti-Anakin was also an interesting concept. A man who worshipped the most shameful part of his grandfathers history and went to great lengths to honor that legacy. Finn possibly being a Jedi was a cool possibility and Rey having some mysterious connection to the Skywalker Lightsaber, to Anakins Lightsaber, was a mystery they did nothing with.
@@Broomer52 Yeah, 7 is not a masterpiece by any means. But it starts off okay. I think people would have been able to accept it better if 8 and 9 were improvements, instead of toilet dirt. If they explained the flaws of 7 in a proper way, they wouldn't have been flaws. Instead we got even more flaws.
What it didn't mention was how in a canon comic, Jar Jar is out in the woods during a battle in the clone wars and gets attacked, picks up a dead Jedi's lightsaber, and defends himself from a droid perfectly.
I laughed when I first heard the theory, but after rewatching Star Wars some point after, the theory just becomes more and more convincing. To the point that I wish it was true.

There are some much more comprehensive videos explaining the Darth Jar Jar theory, the one chosen here brushes very fast on information. They're a good watch to identify every little detail about it.
Amazing how you can substitute Darth Jar Jar for Agatha in the song It's Been Agatha All Along (and of course he's for she's) without missing a beat and then there's the final line "And Meesa killed Padme too." followed by maniacal laughter.
this also plays in the big "star wars rhymes" philosophy lucas had. both the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy have very broad similarities in how they play out. for example both episode 1 and 4 have: two jedi going to save a princess (quigon and obi go to nabu to save padme, obi and luke try to save leia), a powerful orphan living in a desert (anikin and luke), the desert orphan being taken in and trained by a jedi (again anakin and luke), the two jedis facing a dark side user and the older of the two dying (quigon and obi vs darth maul and obi and luke against darth vader) and the desert orphan flying a space ship in the final battle and destorying the enemy base (anakin destorys the droid command center in 1, luke destorys the death star in 4). these smilarities are very intentional on luca's part. so, where was the prequel's countermoment to one of the most shocking reveals in movie history? the famous darth vader being luke's dad moment in episode 5? what was its rhyming counterpart in episode 2? it simply doesn't exist. now, loveable goofball jar-jar being revelead to be a dark side user who manipulated everyone from the start however? now that would have been a reveal on par with the one in episode 5.
The Darth Jar Jar theory also has a reference of the Mule from the Foundation series as inspiration. The character was a jester / clown then turns out to be a mentalist (the foundation's version of a force user) and conquers a large section of the galaxy.

lockstin and gnoggin's video is the most complete one about this theory I've seen Most videos about this theory just go through the Reddit post and that's it This dude went DEEP He read the books that inspired (More like were plagiarized) star wars and how some characters in those kinda seem to inspire Jar Jar, one of them being a twist villain and another being a secret OP character
One thing this theory doesn't delve into is the animated series (absolute bangers), that shows that Jar Jar is bumbling and goofy, but still somehow quite competent in spite of (because of) it. The man juggles a bunch of random objects (quite a feat), befriends (mind controls) wild fauna, and is always where you least expect him, but surprisingly where he 'needs' to be.
There is a comic out there (i think star wars theory made a video) where jar jar picks up a lightsaber and... look for yourself guys, you won't believe me😅
Also there was that one comic where clone trooper saw Jar Jar using a lightsaber like a jedi and when he noticed he suddenly couldn't hold it properly anymore

You should do a minor Sith Lords video on all those not necessitating a long form deep dive, like Darth Vectivus, Darth Tenebrous, Darth Venamis, Savage Opress, Darth Cognus, Darth Millenial, Darth Gravid, etc.
The best part about the senate scene. Is yoda and Mace are seen watching. If Palpatine is voted on they can immediately do what they wanted as well. They got the Jedi to AGREE with it all while playing the entire galaxy in secret.
I haven't watched you in some months, I am very glad and really enjoying that apparently you're getting into Star Wars too now. And despite having seen it before, I has so much fun relistening to the theory and your reactions were both interesting and helped me relive my initial reactions. Because yeah, I genuinely believe Jar Jar was originally supposed to be something more but Lucasfilm backed out after how much insane visceral hate formed against him in the fan base. I think people could actually have been quite impressed and the character could've been redeemed if they went through with whatever they wanted, but also it's understandable to change it, and maybe I'm wrong and it was for the better how it turned out, who knows

There is a scene in the animated cline wars series. When Jar jar was captured by pirates because he was a senator worth a lot of money. Well Jar Jar slipped on the tank barrel causing the tank barrel to smash into another tank caused some more chaos, and one of the pirates shouts "He's not a senator he's a plague!"
There's a clone wars comic book where jar jar gets a lightsaber and throws it perfectly decapitates several droids and then bring it back to him and catches it
This is why this theory is so compelling. Every point can more-or-less be explained away. He had way too much luck in Ep1 cause he was the classic comic relief. He was a simple mind, easily influenced and manipulated by Palpatine. Etc etc. But every little detail and unimportant animations in the movies look way too suspicious once you add them together. Even if its not true, I love this theory.

Not to mention during this time the Jedi had a hard time sensing things through the force. The dark side was clouding their minds, allowing the sith to operate so close to the Jedi without being detected. However the Jedi began to suspect/distrust Palpatine so tried to spy on him. Nobody cared about what Jar Jar was up to.
Darth jar jar is legitemately one of the funniest yet fascinating things I've heard about since learning about the lore of star wars, the best thing is that some new lego star wars stuff actually made it a thing, alongside the old minifigure jedi bob now actually being a character
It was supposed to be the reverse of the whole "I am your father" moment, leaving people shocked and betrayed when a beloved macot turns out to be the mastermind. Instead people found him so irritating that if they still did it, they would have been all "I knew that annoying thing was sus'" which wasn't what Lucas wanted so he changed it. That's how I see it.
