I get what you mean about how some media should "stay lost", and I do agree that there are a lot of things that should not just be made public, but I do think there is good reason to record and preserve tragedies. No matter how horrible an incident is, I think that having footage or audio of it is important for investigation purposes after the fact. If we can get a better picture of what happened, then we have a better chance of preventing it from happening in the future. I also think that even after the investigation, it is important to preserve media documenting tragedy, especially if it is something that might become historically relevant. I think that education around things like the Holocaust would be a lot different if we didn't have so much documentation of what happened. Whenever he talks about the footage of crimes that only exist as one copy in one police station, it just makes me think of how many horror stories I've heard about them loosing or mistreating evidence and it makes me anxious. I personally don't want those things released to the public, but I do hope that some of the media like that is stored in a safer place, like a well maintained university archive, so that we have it if it is needed in the future. So basically, I think that even if the recordings of an event are not something any human should ever see, and the way that event was recorded was morally dubious, I think there is still almost always reason to try out best to maintain a copy of that media, if only so that people a hundred years down the line might have a better picture of the world we live in. Sorry for the long rambly reply on your comment, just wanted to give my perspective because I think the ethics of what we should and shouldn't archive are super interesting. The voice-over is 100% AI. It took 3 minutes before it became annoyingly apparent. The script might also be AI generated but I have no proof to suggest that outright.
