This video continues through my list of the 100 contemporary female artists that you should be aware of. If you haven't seen part I, you can check it out here - • 100 Contemporary Femal...
As a reminder - I’ve restricted this list to only living female artists. I feel there are many great resources for deceased female artists such as Eva Hesse so I’ve omitted them from this list in order to include artists that can be collected and engaged with here and now.

Hello Mary, I have somehow just discovered you now! Just watched your 100 FA and must tell you that you have made my weekend! I feel like I just went to a great art show with a friend - LOVE your enthusiasm! I have a private gallery in Singapore and haven’t travelled for almost 2 years so was definitely feeling deprived till I watched your inspirational video! Keep up the good work!

This was as fabulous as part one! Great job! I added everyone possible on insta to follow their work! I would love to see studio visits, especially in L.A.!

I enjoyed this series and how you presented it. Can you do a series about your favorite living abstract expressionist?

I really enjoyed this one. This presentation is much better than your gallery walks in that you cover more material and you're more expressive . Very good work! Thanks!

This is fabulous, a great list of Contemporary Female Artists! : ) Super helpful for my 9th grade Art Class, we're researching Contemporary Female Artists right now and this is the perfect list for inspiration!

wonderful to hear you are doing that. Long, long ago when I was studying for a BFA, I took an art history class where not ONE woman was highlighted. When I asked the professor why there weren't any woman presented, he actually (no kidding) said, 'there aren't any.' That was around l980. Isn't that an outrageous male statement?!

so cool! But I found it interesting, that most of your favourite artists are painters.... I found it interesting, that most galleries support painters, I guess because it is easier to sell a painting than a video, a performance or anything else... I am kind of missing drawings, but thats just a personal preference... thanks so much and lovely greetings! :-)

I do think painting is the easiest art form to sell..I guess that's why there is more of it. That's good to know! I love drawings too, could be cool to do a video on that

@@MaryLynn_Buchanan Hi - I'm sure you've seen Vitamin D3 by Phaidon - really fun to see those new drawings. I love painting, but to me seeing someone's drawings is almost like touching hands - so personal. I almost resonate with them in the same way as when I'm looking at the French ancient cave paintings of hand prints. Probably more so now with covid.

@@margorowe9052 yes - hope to see talks with artists in their studios when it is safe for you to do so. Your highlighting of these amazing artists is really really appreciated. Thanks for your work Mary Lynn! When I look at various videos about artists in the past, and even currently, it is rare to find an hour long plus video of talking with and really spending time with an individual artist. That is a big loss historically, and I hope that now that video is more available, we will see more deep and long interviews with female artists!

Great like part one. Many artists I have never seen before, many I already knew. There was one of my favorite female artists missing. I wonder if you know her: Berlinde de Bruyckere. Belgium. Great, disturbing sculptures. Will you do videos for male artists, too? I like the way you present these videos. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you! 🙏🏼👨🏼‍🎨

♀I've discovered Lisa Lou, Mary Weatherford, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, which I much liked and enjoyed seeing again Katherine Bradford, Lisa Yuskavage, Claire Tabouret and Cecily Brown's work which I like a lot too. I appreciated very much the quality of your video art reportages, the quality of your language ... Also discovered Sue Williams, Nathalie Frank, Arcmanoro Niles and Tschabalala Self through other videos of yours.

I like the Sue Williams, the Sophie von Hellermann and the pink installation was interesting. That large black and white sculpture and all the abstracts, but especially Williams. Still like the Martha Diamond city scapes too. I don't emoji.

Really love the content, Mary, but honestly: please take the time to research the artists' names so that you can pronounce them correctly - it is very annoying and a little offensive.
