The good old days when the developers biggest concern was trying all kinds of experiments for three dimensional games and we ended up with gamings most unique library with tons of variety. Now it’s about selling loot boxes and microstransactions.

My dad was almost gonna make the cut in the b-boy game but he sadly got cancer and couldn’t record his motion capture because he discovered he was stage 3 NH Lymphoma cancer. You'd be right. That was pretty much the prototype to No More Heroes. I remember watching a video about it and I think the story goes like Suda was tasked with making a Blood Plus game, and just said,"lol imma just go test out some NMH ideas."
Ps1 and ps2 had the most diverse library of games. Now all we have is Call Of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, GTA clones filled with predatory micro transaction and loot crates (gambling boxes).

It is instead "Dark Angel: Vampire Apocalypse". 2:36 - I prefer the unofficial English translation of the Japanese title of "Demolition Girl" called "The Daibjin". It is translated either as "The Gigantic Beauty" or "The Big Beautiful Woman". It sounds more right on. 2:47 - Ooh, again. You gotta be careful with some titles' wording. This one is not "Diabolik Original Sin". It's "Diabolik: The Original Sin". 3:36 - The proper title is "Firefighter F.D.18", not "Firefighter FD 18" as subtitled. But perhaps you quickly put the title up. 3:54 - The game has a full title of "Garouden Breakblow: Fist or Twist". 4:00 - "Gekibo 2" almost had an English release called "Polaroid Pete". 4:11 - "Global Defence Force" was the 2nd game in Sandlot's long-running "Earth Defense Force" series. 4:29 - Wikipedia badly titled this game. Oo, thanks for pointing out the typos. Usually, for the videos on this channel, they are manually added to the video by hand - and so are proof read another time. For this video, the subtitles were auto-generated based on filename - which clearly had mistakes. When we get a chance, we'll correct them. Thanks for paying attention!
At 2m 36s, I mispelt the Japanese title coz it was hard to see another 'i' there. So it's "The Daibijin". And at 4m 29s, the wiki page with the bad title was just a redirect page to an "Ikki Tousen" manga page that also has info about the video games with the correct title of that PS2 game, "Ikki Tousen: Shining Dragon".

It's just the English title of the game, not the anime itself, that I found online. I'm not the expert. The game was released in Japan only with a fully Japanese title. The Japanese title is "JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken Fantomu Buraddo". There is a 2007 anime film with that English-translated title, though.
@@ObiKKa My point was more the series has been known as "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure" since WAY back when. Im talking about the time when the OVAs were the only animated Jojo media, before Crunchyhoe and all these licensing nonsense came about.

If you don't mind playing pirated games, Metal Slug 3D is as far as I remember, is entirely in English, at least the spoken language is but I kinda forgot about the interface language whether is there only Japanese or English. I remember beaten it like 15 years ago and being a citizen of a 3rd World Country, I bought the pirated copy of it and I have 0 difficulties understanding the gameplay or the story.
Metal Slug 3D was one of my favorite if not weirdest Metal Slug entry. Lore wise: it got really dark and deep when the plot was not about Morden taking over the coup but was all about a new character Oguma who wanted to restart and erase history for researching the perfect timeline. Further more I must add I was actually frightened of this game too because the last boss was definitely "WTF Material". Plus Mission 5 was an the uncanny one since it plays at the underground ruins filled with ancient zombies.
Colosseum Road to Freedom was mine and my childhood best friend's favorite game, we used to play it for hours. Also TimeSplitters Future Perfect. So many memories, geez

i wish we have a sequel for altered beast, punisher, shadow of the colossus, urban reign, god hand, black, incredible hulk, marvel nemesis, etc, so many goog titles that are forgotten in the golden past
Adventures of Cookies and Cream is considered the best Fromsoft game they ever made. If you want a true soulslike challenge, that is the one to start with.

Hey some of these look awesome. I had a PS2 and a whole two crate collection in 2014 and I don't recognize any of them. PS2 was always my favorite system and I wish I could collect again.

I just woke up in the morning and watched this. It helps me to get more energy and get on with my day. Never seen Blood One Night Kiss before, very interesting, it is reminiscent of the Killer is Dead & NMH.
Among all these obscure games i thought i'd have played a few at least. To my surprise the only one i played and played till completion was Legion The Legend of Excalibur on the ps2 back then. XD I miss that game now that i'm reminiscing about it.
I know some of these games, ESPECIALLY Tousou Highway 2050. Maken Shao is a rework of a game called Maken X for the Dreamcast where it was originally a first person hack and slash.
The weird thing is not at the amount of JP-only games on the list(TVTropes has an entry for "Weird Only-in-JP thing" for a reason) but how MANY of those weird "Only-In-Japan thing" actually got *translated to English* Oneechanbara(Zombie Zone and Zombie Hunters btw. I think Zone is the Oneechanbara Z re-release) s one thing, but Pink Pong? Love Smash? Party Girls? Half the games feel like they'd be obscure even IN Japan. That being said: Buccaneer Chain Dive (Capcom?) Cover Command Demon Chaos Maid-fuku and kikanjuu Maken Shao Rebel Raider SLAI These feel like hidden gems.
Several of these are translated to English because they saw a European release as well. Admittedly a lot of them are low quality budget titles from what I hear but I'm sure there's some gems in there too. The only one I'm not sure about is Poinie's Poin. It has an English dub but I'm not sure where it was released. I couldn't even find a physical version of it online at all. Even one of the first Google search results is for a rom of the game.
A huuuuuge chunk of these are from D3's great old Simple Library series and they were gloriously campy.. and a huge chunk were released in EU since D3 had an EU branch at the time and I actually tried to grab most of these games because I got really into Oneechanbara and the rest of their titles short and cheap! (hence the whole Simple Series label) btw... Zombie Zone is the *first* Oneechanbara. It's been released as a remake as Oneechanbara Origins recently. Hunters 1 (which is not shown in vid) is the Oneechanbara Special where they added extra stuff like playable Saki and the like. Hunters 2 is the sequal ie. Oneechanbara 2. Oneechanbara Z is sort of like the "new generation" Oneechanbara when they introduced Kagura and her sister as the new protagonist sisters
PS2 era was the wild west of video games. There were no guidelines and seemingly no limits. Anyone could make anything for anybody. The golden age if you ask me. Such an exciting time to play video games. Just go to blockbuster and pick something out at random. No reviews or hype to spoil your interest/taste.
In the Philippines back in the days, I was fortunate enough to own a PS2 though almost all alleyways have a rental PS2 where you insert a "Piso" (equivalent to $.018) like an arcade but you get flat 4 minutes of gameplay instead of credits. That was a huge gamechanger for Filipino gamers because without it, our gaming community won't be the same as it is now. You'll either see people who are cracked at Tekken 5/TT1, WWE, Guitar Hero 2, SSX Tricky, Tony Hawk, BMXXXX, or NBA. Hell even 5-6 year old kids here can destroy you in those games.
Back in the day when video game developers weren't as ambitious and greedy as the current ones. They simply made video games for entertainment and art.
