One of the main draws for me moving to Pickering 2015 was the NYMR here. The place is just living magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now in 2020 Piglet's little steam tram engine Lucy shown here under renovation is now finished and puffing around on the line.

I got a copy of his Book John Fletcher BR Engine man. there's a lot of jokes in it. I may have been taken out of service but have not yet gone for scrap. he also fired Olton Hall during the filming of one of the Harry Potter films

The gentleman Mr Fletcher shows the love & passion of a Loco he worked on, & his love of steam in general. A passion most don’t understand, but one many share. Steam engines are literally the mechanical version of an animal, a breathing, A TRULY LIVING MACHINE, which have quirks, are temprimdntal

SUPERB!!! Dad had decided on a day trip to Whitby from Alterincham and we did a diversion and stop at a Station. 1969 so some time ago. Our family had been in Africa for 3 years enjoying Beyer Garrats storming through the town of Broken Hill Zambia. 1968 December our return but by that time it was all over. We had Dinting and K%WVR to enjoy. I did OO and a passing interest in Model Engineering. My Wife quite likes a Black Five tender model in the sitting room. David.

My comment flew on without me sending it. I was trying to say steam engines are the closet machine to a living, breathing animal. They are temperamental, they can get sick,, they show their ages, & they like some drivers & dislike others & if cared for & shown some human like love, they have long & productive lives. Sorry for the fopah with the first part of my comment !!

when did the ex BR engine man pass on to the big engine shed in the sky? I have got a copy of his book by the sounds of it he had a great sense of dramatics if that's the right word for it. I may have been withdrawn from service but not yet gone for scrap.

Even modern trains are required to carry those small explosive charges incase all communications to go down, they are so effective.

Hi,my name is Phil I did 50yrs on the footplate 8yrs on steam i started at edgeley shed in 1961in1962 I was made a fireman at Trafford Park shed in 1964 i moved back to edgeley a number of the locomotive on this video i have fired on the 25th of February 1973 I fired the flying Scotsmen from Manchester to derby works and on the 25th of August 1973 I fired lender from derby to Manchester it was red then.I finished my time out at longsight as a driver in 2011 Regards Phil.

Was this episode after the filming dates of Downton Abbey? I know they used the Q2 and the NYMR for the opening few minutes of the film. I can't recall when they filmed the film in comparison to this.
