I love this song and her performance of it so much because it starts as a plead, she loves someone so much that they are always fighting and it hurts both of them, so she asks for wisdom, "give me arms to pray with, not ones that hold too tightly", she loves them so much that she is scared to break it so she perfects her love while they're asleep. But at the end the tone of the song changes drastically, she is now talking in the perspective of all woman who bled for loving "too much" and she incites a war, one hundred arms (or armies) and one years of battle. Her performance ended as if the gods of war themselves had spoken through her.
"100 Years" I believe in you and in our hearts we know the truth I believe in love and the darker it gets, the more I do Try and fill us with your hate and we will shine a light And the days will become endless and never, and never turn to night And never, and never turn to night Then it's just too much, I cannot get you close enough A hundred arms, a hundred years, you can always find me here And lord, don't let me break this, let me hold it lightly Give me arms to pray with instead of ones that hold too tightly We have no need to fight We raise our voices and let our hearts take flight Get higher than those planes can fly Where the stars do not take sides Then it's just too much, I cannot get you close enough A hundred arms, a hundred years, you can always find me here And lord, don't let me break this, let me hold it lightly Give me arms to pray with instead of ones that hold too tightly And then it's just too much, the streets, they still run with blood A hundred arms, a hundred years, you can always find me here And lord, don't let me break this, let me hold it lightly Give me arms to pray with instead of ones that hold too tightly I let him sleep, and as he does My held breath fills the room with love it hurts in ways I can't describe My heart bends and breaks so many, many times And is born again with each sunrise And is born again with each sunrise Funerals were held all over the city The youth bleeding in the square And women raged as old men fumbled and cry Sorry, we thought you didn't care And how does it feel now you've scratched that itch How does it feel? Pulled out all your stitches Hubris is a bitch A hundred arms, a hundred years A hundred arms, a hundred years And then it's just too much, the streets, they still run with blood A hundred arms, a hundred years, you can always find me here And lord, don't let me break this, let me hold it lightly Give me arms to pray with instead of ones that hold too tightly Oh, oh, oh
She pays so much attention to the little details and nuances. I can't imagine how much she has to rehearse before going out on your. Every movement and everything she does has a purpose here. Most people probably wouldn't realize it but she probably spends much more time perfecting the tiniest of details than pop stars with backup dancers doing routines. Either that or she's just a prodigy with limitless talent. 😝
I am very interested in music and always looking to hear interesting new music. Florence Welch is clearly influenced by Siouxsie and the Banshees. Listen to The Scream and Juju. they wipe the floor with this Dross. Peace.
I just listened to siouxsie and I really can't see the resemblance mate, perhaps a tiny bit of distorsion energy but that's really not what Florence and the Machine is all about...
Why do you feel the need to compare and bash other artist's work? Also, do you think because you are wearing a music lover badge people are going to take your opinion seriously? Cool you like music, good for you.
They're nothing alike besides being talented woman...if it were to make a real comparison you could use patti Smith and Kate bush ... but I think you're just a troll, so ...
