I always like introducing customers to camp, they’re amazed at how old and storied they are and almost always sold on the corsa line and phantoms.

Surprising how little automation they have. Really shows how small scale climbing products still are.

Much safer than mass produced with zero to little qc. Human made all the way.

10:00 I am very sorry but you have made a mistake calling this machine "a water jet milling machine" it is an ordinary CNC milling machine cooled by a cooling lubricant at a pressure (you can clearly see the swarfs and the noise coming out of the motor). Water jet CNC is used for cutting similarly as you have presented the CNC laser operation. Instead of a laser, the cutting process is made by abrasive particles that are accelerated by a pressure of water coming out of a sintered carbide nozzle :)

Don't they produce a lot of their products in China?? Stuff like carabiners and textile stuff.
@Faoro89

Exactly! Except the Axes they produce almost everything in China.

@@Faoro89 Hey guys, thanks for the comments, but after having visited the headquarters in Premana, the truth is that a substantial portion of the climbing hardware they sell is made in Italy 🙌

What’d the company do for the first 30+ years? “Started” in 1880s yet first axe in the 1920s? 🤔

In the last 1890's my grandfather summited Mt. Hood with a group including women in wide skirts, and all in hobnailed boots, using long alpenstocks, the predecessors to the ice ax we recognize.

thats how they started out👌
@luis.borges

on the wikipedia page is mentioned that the first generation was a general blacksmith and it was the son in the 1920 that started producing ice axes for the italian army Alpini (alpine troops)
