The nurse commentwas an example that even the least military of military people shoot at 300m. If you only shoot turkeys and have no need to shoot further then fair enough.

MrBulletpoints The bullet got there pretty quickly, most of the delay you are hearing is because of the speed of sound. the sound of the impact took much longer to come back to the shooter than the time it took the bullet took to get to the target.

At 2800 feet per second there is a noticeable delay at 1000 yards

It probably wasn't a direct hit and the impact of the round hitting the metal is what may have popped it but it's still hella inpressive.

FYI it wasn't a head sized shot technically. He hit the bottom of the plate, several inches lower than the balloon, and the spalling is what popped the balloon. Still a good shot though. He was dead center in windage.

There are two similar competitions the shoot 1000 yard targets with rifles with open (iron) sights. One is Palma and is shot at 800, 900, and 1000 yards. The other is NRA Long range and is fired up to 1000 yards. The 1000 yard target has a 60 inch diameter black circle on a white background with a 10" diamter X Ring (for tie breakers) and a 20" diameter 10 rings. All firing is prone with a sling and no artificial rest.

Anyone can, but we're not superhuman and blessed by God like Miculek here and do what he does.

Anyone can, providing they have a rifle that shoots well enough, with ammo that shoots well enough, with a stable rest/sandbags etc. and they are able to figure out the correct windage and elevation adjustments for their particular platform, the trigger pulling is the easy part...... Doing what jerry just did here though, just incredible

Jerry is amazing, no doubt about it.

Even then, the slightest wiggle, flinch, or incorrect breathing will throw that bullet off the target at 1000 yards. Even pulling the trigger is an art that must be practiced, if you pull too fast or too hard it will move the whole gun, but if you pull too slow you can drift off target and take longer to fire than necessary.

Of hand at a 1000 yards, with a rifle that weighs less than 15lbs, all the time I want, and multiple shots I could do it, but definitely not with out all those conditions being met. That is insane. And that’s just a maybe, last time I shot at 1000 I was prone with plenty of ammo and a much bigger target.

What!?!?... not at all, see the mark on the steel dead center? And actually just hitting that piece of steel at 1000 yds is a huge accomplishment. Ill give you a day and 100 rds, you wouldnt be able to count on one hand the number of time you even hit the steel.

There isn't scope that can see a target at 1000 yards in Warzone... lol and with the crazy bullet drop they have, you would have to aim 100 feet over the target.

+Nick Neumann I've heard some pretty insane .50 cal myths, but that is about the most ridiculous. Unless you've got some proof I'm thinking that's just some exaggeration of the capabilities of the caliber. If you hold your had 1 foot away from the muzzle break you could get burned, but that is from the temperature of the propellant. The bullet cutting through the air doesn't create enough heat to burn someone a foot away from the path.

Anyone who wants to chime in with "then how did balloon pop?" or "hurr the ricochet just happened to hit balloon?" the bullet splattered and pieces flew out in all directions and one or more hit the balloon. Seriously, watch the video. Notice the big splotch that appears below the balloon when the ping sound happens. and Kale Guinn if you don't believe me, believe Jerry. At 2:20 you can hear him say "the impact was about 12 inches under the bottom of the balloon"
