Seriously though. I'm so sick and tired of obviously modified full on sports cars being called sleepers because they're a little bit faster than you'd expect it to be from stock. A sleeper is a car that does not look fast in any way, shape, or form and yet is to an absurd degree. I'm not a fan of trucks, but this is a sleeper in its purest essence
Honestly wouldn't know by seeing it in my mirror or on a freeway, only thing visible is the traction bars and big ass intercooler. Most trucks don't have traction bars.
I’ve got a 95 with a small block 318 and it has 450k on it, rust free. I’m from NC and the trucks been in New York, Michigan, Chicago , Las Vegas and Phoenix. 🤷🏻♂️
Unfortunately when you get to a certain power level, its pretty much unavoidable before getting into boost(especially with a single turbo). Notice when he finally got into boost, most of the smoke cleared up. This is why I like sequential setups that are only around 700ish hp. A lot less smoke but still plenty of power.
"100% not supposed to live" dude, Cummins never die😂I found an 89 sitting in the woods, no axels, body completely gone, hadn't ran since 98 (this takes place in 2018), I change the fuel, oil, and batteries and it started on its 3rd try, engine is now sitting in my 94 Chevy 1 ton making 400ish hp and I've had no problems other that with the trans losing 5th gear.
Ah, the notorious disappearing 5th gear in the nv4500. Had that happen in my 94 running compounds doing a couple pulls. The inner teeth on the synchro clutch cone stripped on the shaft
Aidan callen I’ve never personally done anything with that transmission but from what I’ve heard is It's a triple shaft, large transmission, and it takes a VERY large puller and press to get the bearing off the main shaft. The syncros also wear on the gear itself so it's likely you may need a gear if the syncro is bad
1000hp from a 5.9 liter diesel means the coal is kinda unavoidable You can double the HP of a 12 valve without really blowing a lot of smoke get a properly sized turbo on the engine adjust the P Pump properly and thats it
@@rekklesscc9204 ive got maybe 30k on mine and just did my basic 12 fuel mods. We'll see how long it lasts before it explodes and i have to get a stage 2 trans
@@kendallmastre3356 the 48re is the go to transmission for drag racing in the diesel world before spending huge money on compition turbo 400 transmissions. You see the 48re swapped into GM's to replace the Alison's. There has been so much R&D on the 47/48 dodge transmission from the aftermarket world. Its a 727 based unit with a lock up torque and 4th speed and the 727 base design has been around since 1956 and used in drag racing for ever. The stk trans have a bad reputation cause there only designed from factory to handle factory power ratings...
@@keiferjanz3197 the G56, which has been the stick shift in cummins from 2005.5, to current, is a good trans, till about 900hp The aluminum case is the weak link. They crack under high shock load
Raceboy5512YT he doesn’t understand if this truck was running right it would have the extra air to burn that fuel he has a 1000hp duramax absolutely no smoke
quote from @BoostAddict "That truck, blowing that much smoke, is probably running about 12:1 AFR. A clean burn with a diesel is about 18:1 AFR, which is way too little fuel to make peak power. The smoke is needed, and won't kill the engine like some companies would lead you to believe."
I have a friend that has an 06 dodge. He did what this guy did, but even more extreme. Made 1600 hp on the dyno and is an absolute terror to ride in. It's incomprehensible how fast that thing is.
If it gets up to 20 years old, the bed and doors are literally falling off with fist sized holes in the floor. Example, my dads old 405k mile 7.3 Powerstroke
I remember something like this not letting me pass on a wide open highway to Wyoming from Denver. I was in an F10 M5. Still hurt about it too this day.
Watching Gale Banks' videos ruined rolling coal for me. I always associated it with power but it's really just excess fuel, lost fuel economy, and hotter egt's.
Yes and no, if it cleans up with boost then theres a proper amount of fuel. If it never cleans up then theres far too much fuel. Cummins have there own magic tho and they just smoke so much
Credit Card Debt no see the issue is the tune is crap, it’s dumping fuck tons of fuel all the time. So it’s wrong. It should inject the right amount of fuel for that air coming in. Not max fuel 100% of the time when your just putting around without the turbo even spooled.
Credit Card Debt exactly what fish find said, the beauty of a common rail w/electronic injectors is its like normal fuel injection. You can tune out the smoke, even on an old P-pumped Cummins if springs and all are tuned right there will be very little smoke.
FishFind3000 will 100 percent over injectors or bigger they are going to smoke regardless of the tuning until the turbocharger lights. Especially with a big single charger like the truck featured in the video has.
The 5.9 cummins never came twin turbo from factory. You can make them twin turbo easily. But no diesel came twin turbo but the 6.4 power strokes. And these aren't that good in less you do work to them.
they are mint stock with a hot tune for about 22mins then i can promise u with brake a rocker arm off and/or spin a main bearing lol. for for that 22mins nothing can catch you :P
@@lukeharper87 LOL. exactly true Luke. The ford diesels just are not up to snuff since the 7.3. That is a long time. Ford is making a lot of money selling garbage that people keep buying. I think the gig is up. Ram I catching up, and will probably pass them in the HD market one of these days soon.
If it's making 1000hp odds are the torque is more then 1500 lb/ft, also like every one else is saying black smoke is cool but the fact that it never clears up in the high rpms means its needs either less fuel or more boost
Those panels make it perfect for those "I'm not getting stuck behind this guy" moments at red lights. My feelings would definitely be hurt if naive me pulled up next to this thing.
Is your tarus a newer model? Those things are so underrated, especially in sho form. I've heard they're very reliable as well, so I might look into getting a used one soon.
Puff the Magic dragon i got a SHO. ‘13. If you are getting one with around 80k get an extended warranty! My vvt valve and water pump went! Turbskis may be next but other than that awesome car
Just means it’s not getting enough air. Too big of a turbo on that thing. Needs a smaller turbo or a compound setup. No way it’s making 1k hp on a single setup
The come with a single turbo from factory a lot of people do the compound upgrade. Which is a smaller turbo over a larger turbo quick spook up an make great power on top end. Anyways love the content keep up the great work
I can tell how uninformed your subscribers are about diesels. If you’d like to learn something go to fire punk or power driven diesel RU-vid channel lol
Love it. It's the type of truck you're going to be past obsessing over since it's dented and scratched up and use it for what it's meant to be used for.
Only upgraded fuel and turbo 😂🤣 this is the shittiest thing he’s drove by far now it’s might’ve made 1000hp 1 pull 1 time. I wanna see dyno numbers for the 1000hp or I’m calling lies
Chase 7 then you don’t know diesels, they work off fuel not air like gasoline engines do. Very easy to see 500hp with just tuning alone. You feel like torque in a Cummins or duramax more than horsepower
@@chase7350 its possible. especially with a big single. these trucks came with a forged crank, rods and pistons. the long block without oil in it probably weighs 950lbs
@@rawsonmangone7117 I know diesels can easily make this power but without upgrading valve springs and pushrods I don't see this motor hitting 1000 for anything more than a dyno run
@@MrDylman55 I know it's possible but no way it only has those few mods and still daily reliable, h needs upgraded valve springs at a minimum in addition to that
Why you say that? Because it doesn’t pull like a 1000 horsepower coupe? This truck weighs thousands of pounds more than even a sedan. I’ve rode in my fair share of fast cars and have 950 whp cts v coupe myself. I’ve also rode in 1000hp cummins and from what I can tell from this video this truck pulls harder and faster than what I rode in. So I’d be willing to bet this truck actually makes more than 1000
That hole grab cause of the torque is just the was the converter on a 48re trans works cause I know that one has to be built cause stock ones don’t hold over 500hp
Time for a built 6.0 Powerstroke... one of the most controversial Diesel engines in the scene! Also gotta do a duramax while your at it lol will be great for the channel too
Denormalize coal and normalize clean tunes. Pissing fuel into the cylinder is just lost fuel, hotter EGTs and not to mention the eye sore of the smoke. Cleaner tunes make room for more power since your EGTs can stay lower
I seen a few tuners say that on a diesel it shouldn't excessively smoke on a good tune because it's all unburned fuel not a diesel guy so idk if it is true but it makes sense to me
The ideal ratio a/f ratio for a diesel is about the same as gas at close to 14.7:1. But, because of the way the diesel burns at that ratio you’ll get quite a bit of smoke. This truck could be tuned better and have a bigger turbo to make the same power without all the smoke at a leaner ratio. But, many people think the smoke is cool so they just throw a bunch of fuel at it.
My 97 with a 62/65/12 is that way too. Mash the pedal Shit tons of smoke, hits 10psi lights and the world falls away into a blur around you. Like you said takes a real learning with the auto on how to get it to really dump some ass though. Keep in mind my truck has 520k miles on the original motor. Cummins are a magnificent thing!
diss me all you want but this is how i feel about the 1.8t in my mk4 vw golf, at first at a rolling 60, it's like ok i'm accelerating then it hits boost and OMG i'm going 120
Its part of the appeal but it definitely is rolling an unnecessary amount of coal. I personally think a little is cool but wouldn't want it to be smoke screening the road lol
The torque is usually almost double on a Cummins. So a 700hp would have 1400tq. So it wouldn't surprise me if it really is a 1000hp truck that it makes 2000tq... And lockup is your friend in these trucks.
What I wonder: Can these things be fast WITHOUT smoking everybody else out? The coal might me fun in certain scenarios, but in general the truck should be able to "go", without smoking everybody out...
People actually buy them because they know what they are capable of not just because of how they sound. It's the ultimate work truck for hauling and race truck if you want it to be haha
i had an immaculate 04 NV5600 HO sport that sadly got totaled this year. the 03-04 6 speeds are easily the best years. even better than 12v trucks. keep that thing.
6.4 and early 6.7 power strokes are the only diesels that come stock with compounds. There’s also no chance this truck makes 1000 wheel with no meth injection
bruce s some other guy called Gale a sellout... because he’s playing by the rules AND setting records I guess? If we want our sport to continue, then the coal rolling needs to get dialed back. It does nothing but hurt us. The Truck Show podcast has Gale on episode 19. I hope they get him on a bunch more.
@@YARCHLRL stock 12v Cummins are known to hold 1000 hp with upgraded and fuel. had forged connecting rods in 1994. and a emmisions compliant l5p will never make anywhere near those power numbers.
