World record: very good, but I think it might be a better time with the first 400 metres a little bit slower. First lap: 49.66; second lap: 54.96; 27.34 last 200 mtr.
its been proven by some research that doing slower laps doesn't help you to get faster last laps in this kind of races. Thats because runners are almost sprinting than just running
@@outoftheblue8733 No, I wrote that the first lap has been too much fast. The second lap has been slower than the first and the best condition to do a record is to run the first 400 metres and the second 400 metres at the same rhythm. But no problem if you don't agree with this analysis.
@@mauriziocavazzoni7045 elite athletes say running 1000m is same as running fast 800m and hang on in survival mode that last 200m, basically 800m isn't negatively splitted because nature of performance, also 49,66 was splitted by pacer, Noah probably 50flat.
You're right he only ran a 2:16.85 but he did it in 1995 not 1999. And that was when he was a kid of 21 years. If he gave the 1000 m a shot at 1998-1999 he would have this record in the books as well. For some stats his 1500 m of 3:26.00 translates to a 2:17.3 1000 m! So his 1500 m paced 1000 m would still put him in the top 140 all time. That's saying something. That means he was definitely capable of being somewhere between 2:10-2:13. God knows he might even have run sub 2:10! But I personally think that the most capable and talented in this event who never actually tried it seriously would be Taoufik Makhloufi . The dude has a 1:42.61 800 m and a 3:28.75 1500m. He won Olympic medals in both the 800 m and the 1500 m. Something that literally no modern era athlete has done. So I think he might have been the best in the 1000 m had he tried it.
El G was only 20 when he set that PB, he could have run a lot faster, although I don't think he could have beaten this record, I think he could have run sub 2.13 at least, when he was at his peak in 1998 when he was 23 going on 24. That's the year he set his incredible 1500m and mile world records that still stand to this day more than 20 years later.
Weird. He run like 1.41 for 800. So he had 30 seconds for 200m more, when his 100m pace was like 13 seconds in the 800. Maybe 800m its his limit for top speed
He ran only 0.22 slower (about 1.5m) 18 years earlier when tracks were slightly slower. Ngeny's was on the latest mondo tracks. When Coe broke his record he only had a pace maker up to 600m. Ngeny had someone with him to 750m and someone close behind up to 800m. That's a psychological advantage. When Coe ran his time it was only 3 days after a solo 3:31 (going through 400 in 52.4 & 800 in 1:49.1) and he had a blister burst in this race.
If this race had been paced better on 1st lap it could possibly have been up to a second faster; so there are always qualifications as to what time somebody could have ran.
@MySonOfSam Lol! I'm not wrong very often! ;0) I was obviously in so much of a rush to tell him he was wrong that I made a mistake with the year. I'll be more careful next time. Cheers.
@MySonOfSam Yes you're right, it was 95. The so called "fact" I was disputing was that he never ran 2:12.04. It's pretty irrelevant what year EL G ran 2:16. What is relevant is that this was his best time and he never ran 4 secs faster.
Ngeny needed 2 or 3 attempts to get this record and when he did he got a lot more help than Coe did 18 years earlier. Ngeny was practically paced to 750m and had someone close behind him round the final bend. Coe was completely alone for the entire last 400m on an old and slower track. Coe's run is still superior IMHO.
I cant get it how they run a wr and then just casually walk on with a smile on thier faces like they wold go for a quick jog. How fast would they run if they run till they got nauseous?
Chris Benson commented 6years ago now ur 20yo man! btw unfortunately we get slower as we getting older..due to the Lost in MaxHR and lungs/air contact serfuce.. it's unrecoverable decline in maxvo2
