I saw that potential in him from day one of him running that 100m race, in which he set the World Junior record. He made it look easy. Maybe. The only 3 runners to go under 31 seconds all have bests quite a bit better than Tebogo though in the other events so I don't think he's ready for WR yet. You have a 19.19 200m runner, a 19.32/43.18 runner, & a 43.03 runner. Tebogo with a 19.50/44.75 combo is slower than Michael Johnson's 200m & 400m, so he shouldn't be faster than MJ at 300m, that wouldn't add up. I think he can go low 31.

@@zolaeight7574 Not necessarily. If he ran slowly out of the blocks then yes, as using up more energy early on would equate to slower running later on. It's not that he ran slowly at the start though, he reacted slow, it doesn't take more energy to react in 0.15 than it does to react in 0.25. His reaction time was a full 0.10 slower than a usual elite sprinter reaction time, so if he had an average start & ran the same pace for each 100m that would have been a 19.16.

Noah will have that 19.50 by Tebogo in the back of his mind going into the WC and this will be the first time he'll be going into the 200m with potentially 3 rounds of the 100m in his legs, so we need to see if that stops him running sub 19.4 in the Final! That was a fantastic first 140m by Zharnel (should give him every bit of confidence for the WC 100m event) & incredible closing last 50m by Tebogo. All 3 200m podium guys in Budapest running sub 19.7 is a distinct possibility as well as all 8 guys running sub 20s! I'm sure Knighton & Kenny took note of that London DL 200m race!

This time round, this 19.50 was run 4wks out from the WC from someone 2yrs older & more developed, and unlike Knighton has run sub 10/45s in the 100/400m. Noah has relatively less time to 'respond' and has to split his focus this time round between the 100m & 200m unlike last year when he could solely focus on the 200m. London DL 200m is the only race that made 3 winners in one race. First of all, Zharnel Hughes is in absolute peak this season while being 29 years old. The man just ran 9.83 in the 100, broke the long standing British record. Then he ran a 19.73 and completely shattered the 200m British record. Now he is officially the fastest sprinter ever produced in GB holding the both records. Then we have Tebogo who dropped a mind blogging time 19.50. 🤯 The African record is gone just like this and he cut down his pb by a LARGE margin. That’s the greatness we’re witnessing from a 20 yo. This 200m makes me think that Tebogo has a very solid chance of taking even the gold this year in the 100m. Seeing him close on Lyles like that puts him in extremely rare territory when it comes to top speed, and he’s so poised and relaxed, which is exactly what a 100m runner needs to be.
@richardgallimore5976
@richardgallimore5976 Год назад
It's more-so speed endurance than top end speed to close on someone in a 200m. Michael Johnson never broke 10 seconds, so he had the top speed of a 10.0x sprinter, or maybe a 9.9x sprinter, but he managed 19.32, so if he were injected into this race with his 19.32 time he would be closing on both despite having a slower top speed than both. Hughes, a prime Kerley, Omanyala all have higher top speed than Tebogo for now imo. The 100 is pretty open though he has a shot I agree.

Let's go back: Noah is a showman who loves excitement. He can summon a 19.3 or 19.4 in any race. And it honestly looked to me like he was putting on a racing show for the UK fans. Him going shoulder to shoulder with Hughes was Noah's idea of fun racing. Zharnel's not a serious threat and Lyles knows that, but for a brief second or two it was exciting and that's what Noah's about. But sometimes the unexpected happens and Noah didn't see Tebogo and the kid just snuck up on him. But just like he taught Erriyon in the US Champs in 2022, he will teach the kid a lesson the next time he faces him. People are riding Tebogo's jock on an outlier race for him. Erriyon had a much better portfolio of races and times and look what Noah did to him. Hold your horses people.

@richardgallimore5976
@richardgallimore5976 Год назад
Purely guessing, but I would say 9.9x+9.3x & 9.9x+9.4x. Bolt doesn't finish as fast as Lyles or Michael Johnson, Bolt is just SO much better at the 100m than anyone else that he can afford a "slower" final 100m. Blake went out a bit fast for his current speed & that cost him. When Blake ran the 19.26 I believe later that year he did a 10.14+9.12 & opening in a more reasonable time for the first 100m let him get that fastest 100m close in history.

Tobogo showed great maturity in this race, putting his nose down and pushing hard to the finish. Also, Hughes ran a brilliant curve but faltered slightly down the straight but still ran a national record. Can you imagine what the world final will be like? This is the golden age of the men's 200. It has supplanted the 100 as the premier men's sprint event.

Noah Lyles is the type runner that high school student athletes should study and try to emulate. His starts, his progressions, owning the curve, lane location, dorsiflexion and standing tall through the line. Oh and have fun, and get better every day. Remain humble and keep working.
