For anyone wondering, pinch the band with 2 Gerbers next to each other, then counter rotate them. The bands are good in tension but have very little strength against shearing force.
@@specialforces3114 The more I learn about guns, the more I question if 5.56 really makes sense for civilian use when better options exist. The cartridge was chosen for logistic purposes more than anything else if I recall.
@@frost8077 Well uh. First of all, the ammo in this video was 9mm so I don't know why you brought up 5.56. Second, 5.56 has arguably the best wounding capability of any standard ball cartridge in its size. Logistics was a convenient side effect. And Third, 5.56 is just .223 which was immensely popular on the civilian market for a very long time. (Not so much anymore because most places banned hunting use of cartridges under 30 caliber)
Imagine going through all that preservation only to open the seal and start using it 3 years later. This is the kind of amp you stack deep. But regular stuff off the shelf for daily use.

There’s something satisfying about getting to open a case of ammo, especially surplus ammo, and I would have to say eastern bloc surplus ammo is my favorite. I love the old-school methods of packing ammo, very satisfying with the paper.
I actually use a claw hammer the same way to break the straps. But when I encounter them, they are holding together a big bundle of lumber. One good turn of the hammer breaks them very quickly if the strap is tight

Tip for those steel bands; bending them back and forth a couple times in the same spot is wayyy easier than cutting through them. The bending causes friction and “melts” a small spot enough for them to break loose
But then again, anyone with a pair of cutting snips/dikes etc with a half a brain and in the mood to steal can just be in it in no time. And that means no sweet booty for the end user! Just saying
In my bug out bag, i have titanium scissors that will cut through a penny or barbed wire. then i also have some wire and bolt cutters that will cut thru anything even casehardened or corehardened steel.
1000rds is a drop in the bucket if you have more than one 9mm handgun PDW or PCC. Besides it's ball ammo, ok but not the greatest. I buy ammo boxes and then I buy different types of ammo on sale at Dunhams, Dicks sporting goods, Cabela's and the like and fill my ammo boxes that way. I get ball and hollow points.
No, no it’s not. Gotta quit watching the news my guy, 10,000rds isn’t a lot of ammo. I’ll be impressed when dude gets a connex container of ammo. Until then I’m content watching his wife’s super soft hands!
@Mike_Jones68 there's a list of essential tools every man should have to own to be considered a man, screwdriver set, socket set, tin snips, at least 1 torque wrench, power drill, hammer, assorted pliers. And that's just a bare minimum
I used to work in munitions factory one of my jobs was belting 50 caliber rounds...it was tedious work one tracer round every 10 one, the machine would jam up often and these rounds were pointing straight at me 😅
Loved the part where he put his bare hand on the tension strap palm down and was trying to cut it. Learned about those things when I was a kid. Seen them catch someone that seemed to be at a safe distance when it popped. About a foot away and he still got a pretty good gash on his arm. Wasn't too deep but did require stitches.
I can remember, I was working at an HVAC-&R outfit, and the owner would have pallets of 9mm shipped to the shop, 4 foot, x 4 foot, and at least three foot tall, just full of cases of ammo
Easiest way to cut steel bands with at home tools, two pairs of pliers, pinch the band from both sides with the head of the pliers right next to each other and twist. The banding with tear like paper.
