This house was beautiful the landscape the trees the design of the house . Perfect place to live , the big mansion that stands here now can't compare . I hate mansions, they are overwhelming to me and not beautiful . Simple is better , even if I was rich I wouldn't want a ugly ass mansion.
This is exactly how I feel. The architectural style, and house plan of the house, the pathway, the fence, very serene. A beautiful scenery however, the horrific crimes, by ugly so called humans, committed there. 😰
Well, when i think “quaint” rightly or wrongly i think of a small cottage…… i’d say perhaps like a perfect description of the guest house….. The main residence at 10050 to me was too large an estate in my opinion to be “quaint.” I’m going to look up the definition of the word just to see

The original owner was French actress Michelle Morgan. Her vision for the home was a French country cottage. The rafters in the living room we're white with light fabrics and textiles. It was a fairy tale home. From these photos it looks like the interior was in a little disrepair.
She later said the place was spooky. She mentioned night noises, it was strange. You can Google it. I don’t know if she was just trying to get attention after the tragedy OR if she first said it before that happened.
Reading about this tragedy is beyond belief. So heartbreaking. That these scoundrels could commit these heinous vicious acts of violence. God love the victims. Steven, Sharon, and (her unborn baby) Abigail, Jay, Wojciech. Leno and his wife Rosemary LaBianca 🙏🙏🙏
Don't forget Tex Watson. A lot of people will be happy when he dies. He was the main killer. Of course their deaths won't bring the victims back in unfortunately. Just hope they all are still imprisoned when they pass away.
Just the thought of someone plunging a knife into a pregnant woman is unbelievable. How could anyone stab anyone at that house or anywhere else much less a sweet vulnerable pregnant sharon
That music is so haunting. I can imagine myself closing up my eyes, while i’m entering this house in the middle of the night, with that music on seeing the ghost of Sharon Tate.

Had I not seen him, I wouldn't have got out of bed..therefore..died there. No words, but I don't believe a demon came to save me. It was my dear departed dad.
The home she wanted was Patty Duke’s former home in Beverly Hills. Roman Polanski could not settle on a price with Patty’s first husband, whom she was divorcing.
I looked everywhere to see if anyone sold a model of that house. Because that house was so gorgeous. But unfortunately there is no such thing out there 😭.
He hid and then lied for the rest of his miserable life, changing his story every time. Gossip was he the last of Altobelli's young male 'gardeners' at that house, if you take my meaning. Protecting Altobelli involved downplaying Garretson. Vincent B, taking care of the rich and powerful again.

He was an agent, but wasn't considered rich. Why do you think he was having to rent his house out? Rosemary LaBianca actually was worth more than even Abigail Folger at the time of her death. @@lemonhead162 - Office politics. Bugliosi was a prosecutor. He was under a lot of pressure to get a conviction. I’m sure there’s more than one reason why he might protect “the rich”. For one thing rich people usually have status and a certain amount of power along with their money. They are treated gently a lot of the time because no one wants to be on their bad side because they have the ability to cause bad things to happen to people that they think didn’t treat them properly. David Hailstone was trying to be discreet. Saying it but not really saying it. Why do you think that Altobelli would have “young, male gardeners”? What do you think “if you take my meaning” means? Downplaying Garretson to protect Altobelli…. I’m not beating around the bush anymore. I’m just going to spill. Altobelli was gay. He was pretty much out. Lots of people knew and he wasn’t negatively affected by it. But in that time period most were in the closet. Some were deeply in the closet. Altobelli wasn’t in the closet but it was still sensible for Bugliosi to not draw attention to who Altobelli’s friends were and why. Too much attention on Garretson could’ve started some wheels turning and made things so that people who didn’t know and didn’t need to know might find stuff out and that could cause problems for Altobelli.

Or listen to the Joe Rogan podcast interview with Tom O’Neill. Bugliosi was convinced that the milkman was the biological father of Bugliosi’s oldest son. Bugliosi harassed the milkman and his wife to the point that they were miserable. He picked up the milkman’s daughter without permission as she was walking home from school. He took her to a store, bought her a doll and told her to let him know what her parents were saying about him. Then he took her home. That’s kidnapping. The milkman and his wife had to take out a restraining order against Bugliosi. Bugliosi’s superiors were aware that he was committing crimes and did nothing about it. Later Bugliosi had a mistress and she got pregnant. He told her to have an abortion but she refused. So he beat her up so badly that she had a miscarriage. It is rumored that he had prosecution witnesses lie in their testimony. Terry Melcher was one. Linda Kasabian was another. It is said that he told Linda exactly what to say or not to say. She went along because she was afraid she’d lose her immunity from prosecution if she didn’t and then she’d be tried and convicted like the others. I have no proof of this but it is on the rumor mill. Let me be clear. Even if Bugliosi broke the law and/or conducted an unfair trial I do not care. They were all guilty and they got what they deserved. Justice was done. But Bugliosi isn’t a hero because I believe that he used some unethical and illegal methods during the trial in order to get those convictions. But I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
So strange to see the simple furnishings. Nothing ostentatious: some prints on the walls, some crummy lamps, a rocking chair. It is so strange how it looks so unremarkable it could be the inside of anyone’s house from the late ‘60s, anywhere really.
That’s what hippies liked. They usually avoided materialistic lifestyles, didn’t want to seem typical, they liked unusual historic places and things, kept stuff “real”. Funky. The fashions of the day were inspired a lot by Victorian and Edwardian fashions.
When people talk about Sharon's dream house, I say, 'oh, you mean Patty Duke's house in LA' and they look at me strangely, not on the better end of the real history of this, like the humble I. In the shot of Sharon's bedroom, on the table can be seen the photo of her with Dean Martin and Mia Farrow, made by her. Sold at Debra Tate's garage sale of Sharon's possessions a couple of years back, I'd have loved to have bought it, being a 50+ year undying fan of Sharon, and a fan of Dean's too ( not so much Ms. 'strange person' Farrow) , but alas I'm not of the means to pay $12,000 for a photo. Pity Altobelli sold the house to a person with money but no taste in 1994, only to knock it down and build a monstrosity in its place. It was an historical place. Thanks George. You are the second biggest fan of Sharon's, after me. :-)
David, in all these years of study, I never heard that it had been Patty Duke's house (if I did, it didn't register); I only recall that Terry Melcher and Candy Bergen had rented it for a while. Was Duke the one who had it built? (Parenthetically, yes, what a shame that the later owners tore it down -- but didn't they have trouble selling it because of its gruesome history? Just wondering. Also wondering how many hands it passed through between '69 and ''94.
@@IanThaddiam no, what i meant was in 1968 Sharon and Polanski rented Patti Duke's house in another swanky area of LA. Sharon loved the house (you can find footage on RU-vid of Sharon washing Duke's dog at this house) and expected to buy it, but late 68 everything changed, she became pregnant, no deal to buy was made, so she rented Cielo, the first place the real estate agent showed her. (Bergen and Meltcher had midnight fled the house, we now know, so it was available. The owner was Rudy Altobelli. It was built in the 1940s.) Duke's house was the house she loved, though. Cielo was the place they rented as they needed a place. She hardly spent any time at Cielo, only a few weeks: Feb-March 69, and July 20- August 8th 69. She was abroad making 12+1, her final movie. That's what I meant. The Sharon 'love house' at Cielo was a lot of beat up.

David HAILSTONE Rudy Altobelli actually sold the house in 1989 for 1.6 million dollars after having paid $86,000 for it in 1963. It changed hands a couple of more times after that before it was demolished and replaced by the hideous mega-mansion that currently occupies its former location. I agree that Sharon's true dream house was the one she rented and wanted to buy from Patty Duke. (Roman and Patty's husband couldn't agree on a price). It is located at 1600 Summitridge Dr. and still stands to this day. A beautiful two story house perched on a hill with stunning panoramic views. It's difficult for some to believe, but 10050 Cielo was a bit of a down-grade when compared to the Summit Ridge house. It's true that most people don't realize that Sharon only lived at Cielo for a total of about 8 weeks because she had spent most of her time in Europe with Roman, while also making her last film there.

I had forgotten Altobelli sold it in 1989 and it changed hands until that horrible place that now stands there was built. One thing though: in the months in 69 in UK Europe Sharon didn't spend that much time with Polanski. They met up in London in June--July after 12+1 was completed, he stayed, pretending to be planning his movie, and she returned to the US. Wish she hadn't.
It's really sad. Because one of the neighbors heard the gunshots and heard the screams. But she did nothing out of fear for her own life. She didn't even call the police. If she would have called the police maybe some wives could have been saved.
Of the one or two people who did hear things that night, in that hilly area where sounds could be distorted, there was no way they could have indicated to police where the screams etc came from, so what would be the point of calling them?
I had never heard that it was because she was “afraid for her life“ what I heard was that she thought it was fire crackers from a party they were having. She did not know that anything out of the ordinary was occurring there. Now, that being said, I don’t know that we would ever know for sure because he never admitted it that I know of, but I think you’re completely right when it comes to William Garrison. I think he saw, at least a portion of, and definitely heard what was transpiring approximately 50 feet away from him. He tried to pick the phone up to dial the police, only to find out it was dead. I think at that point he hid, before he ended up like the telephone which probably in a panicked state he had just picked up to call for help to no avail…… ☹️

Beautiful tranquil place, only it's owner & history were hideous, until Sharon graced it briefly with her beauty.. Those pictures of the inside were taken after the deaths as they showed abbigale folgers room that she stayed also other things ie things strewn about after the deaths. Its haunting & I can t shake the night described in depth, the shear organ of terror & slaughter. I keep wanting to capture it as I had the 1st time o heard it only a few weeks back, but I can t. Poor Sharon her friends & family it's a lifetime ago, I just wish I could give my life for her or her friends . A tragic waste of innocence. Not ever forgetting baby Paul.

Had Sharon not been a recognizable actress, and so attractive - and instead they were 5 ordinary residents, would this story have endured so vividly? Likely not.
@@hanselmansell7555 they did but the Manson family story was enough to make them interested. It's like Jack the Ripper. Most of us know at least one of his victims names even though they weren't famous. It all has to do with the sensational way in which they were killed.

I’ve always been curious if the picture with the heart on the wall has a name or was done by anyone. Gorgeous home unbelievable event even to this day.
Break-ins and murder occur all the time. Not that this doesn't matter but the only reason why this event is seen as more tragic is because of who the victims and perpetrators were.

Every time I see the front yard from the view of the porch I picture little Paul-Richard taking his first faltering steps while his parents cheer him on. There has to be a special place in hell for the evil that took all that goodness away.
@@Adriana-vp1rm Lots of guys feel that way, esp when they've lived as playboys for years. Some change their minds, too, so besotted are they with their child, once they meet them. Roman was a bit of a scoundrel, sure. He was also deeply scarred from what he endured in WWII (the death of his Mom at the hands of Nazis). And he Loved Sharon, as was clear from his heartbreak in the interviews after her death. Did he take her for granted? Absolutely. He had no idea he'd soon lose her, nor how. Not defending his later actions either, not at all. And yes, she deserved better. But she loved him, and he was her choice. We must respect that fact. She wasn't just some Barbie doll, but a grown woman who knew her own mind.
I was always unclear as to the location of the path to the guest house, but you can see it passes in front of the house,probably,started at the parking area but its just a guess.A lovely house in a great spot,too bad Manson ruined that whole scene
I was thirteen when the Tate-LaBianca murders occurred. One may be told or read about those days, see tv or news reports, but to fully understand what is was like to be part of the peace and love generation, one had to be alive at the time. In a sense, the crimes were inevitable. In another, they played a role bringing to an end the aimless and futile lifestyle of hippies and flower children.
Strangely beautiful house, not exactly because a massacre took place on the property but by the history itself that the place carried and carried for decades and this before the emergence of Manson.

I feel the same about that home. It should have been filled w/ baby coos, joyous laughter & music (just not the music that was recorded there later). It's like Manson's evil sickness killed that gorgeous property, too. Tragic, all the way around. No bright spots here, save for the remarkable work done by Doris Tate, and all who've carried that torch since her brain cancer reunited her w/ Sharon in the next world. There would be no victims' rights movement w/o the dedicated efforts of that dear lady. Bless the families & friends of these stolen people, who spent decades turning their own grief & pain into a way to help & protect others. 💙
This house before the murders looked to be in an idyllic spot. Nothing special inside size wise, but gorgeous position. You can imagine sitting on those lawns just taking the scenery in, chilling and feeling safe. Yet all that horror happened. I wouldn't have wanted to even be on the land afterwards even with the original house torn down and others rebuilt in it's place.

I would respectfully suggest to you that it was the US government who put the dump on hippies, intentionally, by conflating hippies with the Manson Cult, for political reasons as they wanted to discredit the counter culture movement at the time. The Manson Cult was a gift to the US government, or maybe an ordered present, paid for. I remember back then real hippies in TV interviews crying out against being lumped together with this Cult No difference. The US government knew what they were doing, and mainstream news and Hollywood fell into line behind it.
The property was problematic after the event. The house had been haunted ever since so the place was taken down for those reasons probably. Why do I say this? Because the new box is haunted too
No one extra was expected that night, regardless of what has been claimed by various people. The weather was hot and Sharon Tate was very tired late into her pregnancy and frustrated that her husband wasn't yet home from London. She even declined to have her younger sister stay over.
Bruce Lee in reality was fresh out of fame from the Green Hornet and he didn't yet carved out his name until "The Big Boss" (1971), unlike the movies, he wouldn't prove much in reality. Think of it, one of them Tex had a gun. Tex was assisted by two women. But then who knows, a martial artist might be easily able to overpower the four individuals because they were not that strong had it not for the weapons they possess. they were actually addicts.

One thing that you may or may not know: while dating Jay Sebring, Sharon Tate lived with him in a house that formerly belonged to Jean Harlow and her husband Paul Bern who shot him self in 1932. 35 years later, Sharon Tate while alone in this house, had a very terrifying experience that confused her. She wasn’t sure if it was a waking dream or reality, but she saw a small, creepy looking man ( Paul Bern was just over 5’2) running around in her room. She said it looked just like Paul. She was so frightened that she ran downstairs and that’s when she saw a vision of a body tied to the staircase with it’s throat slit from ear to ear. She said the body was a mix of both her and Jay Sebring. Just two years later, both her and Jay would be tied up with their throat slit, just down the road on Cielo drive.
"Paul Bern who shot himself in 1932"... Hollywood Producer Irving Thalberg was seen tampering with the evidence at the "suicide" scene in the morning of 9-5-1932, before the police were notified of the body's discovery. Jean Harlow's (Bern's wife) movie career would be ruined if it were discovered that Bern was already married to Dorothy Millette. Dorothy Millette, two days after Bern's death, conveniently jumped from a ferry and drowned. Decades later (1990), Samuel Marx, screenwriter and producer, wrote in a book ("Deadly Illusions") that the next day he was among the studio executives who were told by Louis B. Mayer that, in order to avoid scandal, Bern's death would have to be ruled "suicide because of impotence". It is probable that Dorothy shot Bern.

I've read that by the time it was decided to tear it down, the house itself was in poor condition....cockroaches and termites had done a real number on it. Probably would have been prohibitively expensive to restore, much cheaper just to tear down and rebuild.
Knowing humans as well as we do, we must realize that after so many eons of human habitation, nearly Every accessible bit of ground has been bloodied in a miserable fashion at some point. This spot on Cielo is esp painful, b/c we care so much for the victims & their survivors. But I like to think that the energy inherent to places *can* heal, over time & as recent memories fade away with each passing generation. The alternative is Too Grim to consider for more than a brief moment. So, in my mind, Villa Tacky will one day crumble to dust. Then, Mother Nature will reclaim the land, and the only sounds there will once again be gentle birdsong & the breeze moving through softly swaying trees.
Sharon Tate was far from "famous" in 1969. Her biggest role was in "Valley Of The Dolls", which was hardly a box office smash when it came out. She was known around Hollywood, but more "famous" for dating Jay Sebring, then later marrying Roman Polanski.... then made iconic for her eventual fate. I get annoyed whenever I read "Sharon Tate and four others"...... as if they were lesser people.
