I grew up next to a sunflower field. It was wild seeing just how tall they were, and how the seeds made a perfect spiral in the middle of the massive bloom. Some were so heavy they could hardly stand on their own stalk. One of my first jobs I spent helping the old guy who grew them collect the blooms in a wheelbarrow, then we used a comb to scrape out all the seeds. He probably ripped me off pay wise (oh well lol) but he would give me a giant bag of raw seeds as a bonus and my mom would help me toast them. The old guy taught us how to make a brine to soak them in before ovenroasting. You could make them salty, or my favorite, spicy tabasco sauce sunflower seeds. Spent many summers cutting my tongue and cheeks raw on sunflower seeds by the mouthful lol. Sorry about the rant. Just had a random memory seeing that sunflower grow. It's funny, in my memory, they stayed in full bloom all summer and fall long. But watching your video, maybe they wilted after just a week or two. Childhood memories make things feel way longer than they really were, sometimes.
