This was from our trip to Wheeler lake in March 2012. Up until now, we have caught blues up to 85 pounds, but have been after the 100 pounder since August 2011.
We finally caught one over 100, as this blue weighed 104 pounds, 7 ounces.
The fish pulled down a rod in about 25 feet of water and battled me for about 18 minutes.
Our 12 year old daughter had just caught a big drum and was releasing it when this pulldown occured. By the time she grabbed the flipcam, 2-3 minutes of the battle had passed, but she filmed the rest.
After landing the fish in the net, I let it rest/revive for a few minutes before lifting it for pictures. I decided not to measure its' length/girth, as I knew 104 wasn't the lake record and didn't want the fish to be out of the water anymore than it had to. It stayed out of the water for only 2 minutes. After taking a few pictures, I put the fish back in the water, in the net for a few minutes and let the fish swim off on its' own. After about a minute, it about took the net away from me trying to get back down to the bottom, so I knew it was time to let it go.
This is part 2 of a 2 part video of this fish.
