*UPDATE* - I did not include the GTX 970 results here, those will be included in the high end video with the 1070/1080/etc. Short version: GTX 970 is slightly slower than the GTX 1060 3GB, but it is still very competitive and a very good 1080p gaming card. If you have one or can find one for under $175, it is still worth considering.

You should have had the 970 in this test considering it is THE card for this segment in a lot of PC's still. It really doesn't belong with the 1070 or 1080 in price or performance. For that you need a 980ti

1060 is a sweet spot. best budget 1080p @ultra/very high 60 fps card. 1050 is just 1080p @medium presets 60 fps. 12 dislikes from rx 460 users

what an articulately informative video! very true on the 1060 3GB Vram vs 6GB by Tech Deals. the core and memory clock just isn't enough to handle a 6GB vram usage unless you're running 1440p gaming on medium settings but low texture detail and occlusion etc etc. i'm glad i subscribed to this channel =) stay awesome mate!

Same here , and its stay around 62C after few hours of gaming , and the fans only runs on 60c and above, which is awesome to increase the coil life for a long run .. as well i bump core clock +150 and memory clock +480 without adding voltages , however i upscale my power limit to 108% and its running even better a little bit by tweaking those

Nobody really knows when exactly. Nvidia is being tight lipped so that they don't cut into sales of current gen cards. Personally I expect them to drop the hammer either in July or September, if AMD will really deliver Navi in August. Kinda like they released the 1070ti a month after VEGA to steal some of the thunder.

1060 3GB will support everything just put texture to high and you can make everything else ultra, the game will look 99% like Ultra settings :D P.S i've tried this on Shadow Of War which is a GPU Crusher and it looks absolutely beautiful with those settings.

Don't use the G4560 with the 1060 it will bottleneck and will cause a lot of stutter, in other hand it will hold the 1060 back, use better cpu or lower gpu

the bottleneck is very small and for only $30 - $40 more for %40 better performance on the chip its considered better than a 1050ti combo for most games. when I have the money I will upgrade to a i5 but for now this will have to do.

Id go with a ryzen3 1200 instead. Better upgrade path and performance for around the same price. I ordered a ryzen 3 1200 for $99 with a msi gaming pro mobo for $65 from amazon this morning. If youre sold on intel consider the coffeelake i3, but you'll pay a premium for the mobo.

It might sound silly to use a gtx 1080 or 1080 ti for 1080p gaming but if you've got a high refresh rate monitor and you want stable frame rate under ultra/very high settings in most games you probably need one of these GPUs. I recommend buying a 120 hz 1080p monitor even if you've got only the gtx 1050 and create a custom refresh rate (60 or 30 hz) under NVIDIA control panel. For non-demanding games and other applications use the default refresh rate which is 120 hz, for demanding games use the custom refresh rate. This way you can enjoy extremely smooth 120 fps in some games while low fps in demanding games won't feel so choppy thanks to the custom 60 or 30 hz refresh rate. This is basically how G-sync makes low fps appear smoother by matching the refresh rate to the fps. Of course G-sync can change refresh rate instantly which you can't on a regular monitor...

In my country, GPUs are very expensive, so i might take a ehile to upgrade again. Ive been looking at 1060 3gb but the rx 580 4gb is only 30/20 dollar more expensive. Purchased a Zotac mini 1060 3gb for 188 off NewEgg on sale about a week ago and paired it with my Ryzen 3 1300x. Plays everything from bf1, to r6 siege, GTA 5, Fallout and cs on max settings anywhere from 70 to 300 fps depending on the game. Best deal I've found all year on GPUs. It has recently increased back to msrp of 249.99. Glad I pulled the trigger on it when I did. Love your videos they're awesome and benchmarks seem more accurate than the other channels here on RU-vid. Keep it up and thank you!!

Stale Pancake Mix The dreaded virtual mining craze is why. Many people are mining, mostly ether right now I believe, which is a way of collecting virtual currency that has some real world value. They need powerful GPU's to perform this "mining" (you can Google this process), so prices are now really high and cards like the 1070 were out of stock in many places some time ago. Unfortunately, this really screws over gamers with this price hike.

I recommend you get INTEL 8700 non-K $330 it just $50 buck different for much bigger performance boosted for years to come when games dev beef up their games. Then you feel cool I glad I add just $50 buck! This you upgrading is a brand new PC! Be wise and need to only upgrade once! Until big leap which is not many years to come! Can't go too cheap because what you buying is big tickets items!

Tech Deals, hello people.. I have a question... I'm currently looking for a pc upgrade and I only play on 1080p-60hz games, but sometimes esports games like league of legends on 144hz. I'll only use it for gaming - no editing whatsoever. The pc should be future proof (3-5years),but I dont want to spend too much on it. So my main question is, what CPU do you recommend for me? I've been thinking about the i7-7700k or the Ryzen5 - 1600x. I have no problem with overclocking, and I would overclock the i7 to 5ghz. I'll probably pair it with a gtx 1070 or 1080 in the next months also, but I'll keep my 980ti for now. I would be very thankful for your help

I don't mind playing Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey at 40 FPS on High settings at 1050p with my GTX 1050Ti. I consider them sightseeing games and the more "cinematic" framerate is good enough for me. The only competitive game I play is just League of Legends anyway and the 1050Ti can get 120fps while in low power mode.

Got a 960 2 gb used from a guy I know for 50 gbp. Considering my pc is old (Phenom II x4 955 @3.8 Ghz) I don't think anything better than a 1050 ti would have been worth it and that one new costed like 120 gbp...

I'm about to buy a new graphic card and wasnt really sure what to get...now i know - 1060 3GB In my country, the cheapest 3GB is about 230€ but the cheapest 6GB is 300€ I thought about getting a 1070 or 1080 but Volta is coming soon so i don't wanna waste 600€ on a 1080 now and then more next year or whenever volta comes

Alexis Hurtado I don’t thinks so but that cpu is a power eating monster even with it’s cores and clockspeed, its old architecture will cause it to perform worse than 4 cores for 100$ If you have not bought the cpu yet I recommend changing it but if u already have it it shouldn’t be a issue tho

In some games, yeap. In most AAA games, not really. I mean there is no CPU that maxes out a 1060 in EVERY game. It mainly depends on the game and the settings you run though. At ultra details @ 1080p, excluding games like PUBG, you are fine.

Hey man I've got a question. Considering monitors. Currently I'm running a Ryzen 1600 with a gtx 1070 for my 1080p monitor. I have plenty of performance, so I'm considering to buy a new/second monitor. The thing is I really want to get an ultrawide monitor, but I also really want high refresh and if possible 1440p. The thing is that if I buy a 1440p monitor I'm probably not getting the high refresh I want, but with 1080p I'm not getting the 1440p detail. And with ultrawide I'll probably also not get the refresh. What would you recommend? Atm I'm actually tempted to just get a 1440p ultrawide, and see where it goes from there. (maybe upgrade card later)

Hi Thomas! A lot of this depends on how much you want to spend, and whether your build has an AMD card or a Nvidia card; but, if you can afford it, you might look at the Samsung 34CF791. It's normally close to a $1,000 bill; but, I've seen it as low as $599. Currently selling on Newegg for around $597 and Amazon for $589. They have some less expensive rebranded units that can be close to this price that uses the same panel. Has 100 Hz, Freesync, Quantum Dot Physics, Curved Panel, VA Technology, and 21:9, 3440 X 1440 Ultra Wide.

I'm planning to build a r5 1600 and either a gtx 1060 6gb how much fps do you get with a 1070? if you play overwatch or league of legends of you play either

Creators Legacy 1060 and 1070 can be between 20-40 fps difference (1070 being higher)

Thomas Chin For gaming, ultrawide is really cool. If you've never used one before, go somewhere you can try it and see. The FOV is very helpful. 100 hz is only 3ms slower than 144, whereas it's already twice that much faster than sixty, so it's not that big of a loss. I don't think it's worth it to spend more on g sync unless you're already stepping up to 1440p. If you know you're going to be upgrading your card, look for a gsync 1440p. You'd be really happy with that for a long time. You can still run a 1440p-144hz monitor at 1080p-144hz with gsync enabled on games that you aren't getting the framerate

Creators Legacy I'm getting about 200-250 fps in league, but I have it capped on 120. Overwatch I'm not sure, I'll get back to you about that. Overwatch is updating, haven't played in in forever. But if you plan on only playing those two, there is no need to get a 1070. Go for the 1060 6gb, cause that one can run those games perfectly. Overwatch I just got into a game, and I had everything on epic, and I'm getting between 90 and 100 fps

im currently playing path of Exile mainly and some other games im running a fx6200 and a 7770hd. im want to build a new rig and im looking for parts that wont put a hole into my wallet. i was thinking to get a r5 1600 b350mobo 8gb ram but donno what gpu i should buy do you have any suggestions

The Zotac 1060 is a beast. I can run all games at high/ultra on 1080 with a solid 60fps. Even PUBG (and I hate that game).

So right now in Australia the average asking price for a 1060 3GB is around $350, the 1060 6GB is around $400 and the 1070 is around $600. I’m trying to make a $1500 build with the 1070 but it just isn’t happening. tech deals, thanks to your videos a build my PC and everything runs like charm :) ultra settiings on ultrawidescreen monitor smooth around 60FPS on the most demanding games like Battlefield 1, Wolfenstein 2.... on my MSI B350 gaming plus motherboard, EVGA GTX1060 6G, Ryzen 5 1600 and 16gb of ram. I’m building my pc with 8700k on z370 Godlike inside LIAN LI PC-O8. My 1st question: With the LIAN LI should I buy a blower or aftermarket or water cooled graphic card? My 2nd question: I’m planning for 1 big 4K monitor or 2 small 4K 60 hertz monitors (I hope there is more than 60) for mostly editing and some casual gaming, what card should I buy 1060 or 70 or 80 or xxxti? Lol i got a i7 4790k@4.9ghz and evga 970ftw in sli and always hit around 7600 in timespy and around 3.8k in extreme. For firestrike i hit like 20860. Witcher 3 @1080p ultrawide ultra settings @ 70fps AVG Rize of the tombraider 1080p uw ultra settings @ 85fps AVG Doom 1 card, sli does not work in Doom 1440p uw ultra settings @ 80 fps avg I do think im good till next gen commes out I even play assasins creed sindicate @ 4k medium on 1 Card and get like 70fps AVG. I was surprised i got that Manny @ 4k

Man I love your videoreviews! I unfortunately bought a 1060 6GB ARMOR because the 1070 was way beyond my budget for my €1.200 build. Here in Italy, I paid €350 for mine and the 1070 costs twice as much! If GPUs had "normal" prices I could seriously buy a 1070 for that money. I decided to go cheaper now and maybe upgrade it down the line in 2 or 3 years if I need to, hopefully when GPUs will have more "human" prices. I should say, however, that I will use my computer mostly for programming so gaming is not really a primary concern so I think that that card will be just fine for me. Anyways, keep up the good work! :)

Great! I didn't actually know if buying a GTX 1060 6GB or 3GB. Now I'm sure the 3GB is currently a better option, the complete build was a little overpriced(? with the 6GB. I like too much MSI Gaming X design, it would be mine :3 Thinking in future was my main problem, but, you are right, it has no enough performance actually for those times. I decided to purchase a GTX TI 4GB DDR5 video card. When I looked at some of the reviews, some people said the 2GB version was using up all the DDR5 and was using system RAM and running the CPU at 100%. So I decided to get the 4GB version. I dont game much but I want to connect my computer to my new 4K TV when it comes. I like to do a lot of web surfing. My new TV is a Smart TV, and it has WIFI, so I might not use the computer for everything. However, I might buy some games. I saw my son playing a new version of Final Fantasy XII which I liked to play when I was using my play station 2. He purchase it through a steam website.
