I never understood why one accident ended the Concorde. I don't know of any other plane that was retired bc of one accident. And, the cause was not even the plane itself, but bc they hit the metal strip on the runway. Did it ruin them financially?

Same reason as the blimps, cheap air travel & fast, they don't want public to get hads on the tech too! Those jets used very little fuel. Seems to me that could have been a failed assanation on the french jet. I also heard the tech patterns were coming up for expiring.

@@TheEarthHistorysConfusingthat isn't true. A single passenger ticket was around $12,000 dollars in the early 2000s... It wasnt cheap at all. In fact the entire business wasn't that profitable or cost effective. It's a luxury so it only serviced a small number of people, unlike a commercial airliner.

Watching this and seeing how futuristic the Concord was. I dont think the people back in the 1900s predicting what it would be like these days could have predicted the impact of capitalism on technological innovation. If it doesnt make someone a profit these days, its not gonna happen

Who was responsible for keeping the runway clear of debris? They were to blame. Who left the spacers out of the main gear truck? Who failed to calculate the weight and balance? They were all problems with French culture.
