Dialing elevation to compensate for bullet drop? You’re going to need a Zero Stop. But why do you need a Zero Stop? What does a Zero Stop do? Are there different kinds? Are they hard to design? Why do some stop below your original sight in zero? All your Zero Stop questions are answered right here on the Vortex Nation Podcast.

I listen to it and I have to say I don't know anymore about Zero Stop Scopes than I did before the podcast. I will watch video again, but all I got from this is that the scope adjustment stops when you get to zero.

I really do appreciate these ten minute talks. I also listen to the pod casts but I still always learn stuff from these and appreciate the work. Thank you.

You guys are mellowing a bit. When Mark said he has been accused of having a screw loose, I can imagine a time when Jim would have replied, "Just one screw is loose?" Can you feel the love in the room? 🤣

I like this!!! I hunted with an sks as a teenager. Back when those guns were $90. But with good ammo it really did well. Compared to the 3030 I LOVED the 7.62 39. It makes sense for many reasons

I like having a stop of some kind on a hunting rifle with exposed turrets. it’s not something’s scope a has to have. my scopes that do have stops the stop is set at 100. but the turret stays dialed to 200 wile I’m hunting and scouting because most of my shots are from 100-200. and anything past that I hold or dial depending on the situation.

While zero stops and dialing has advantages. I also feel Jack O’Connor was right to promote sighting a Big Game Rifle 3 inches high at 100 yards. What does this do in the real world with my .264 Win Mag Nosler 130gr AB at 3200 FPS on Deer and Antelope just point and shoot out to 375 yards and in 40 plus years of hunting out West this covers 99% of the shots one encounters. Our last Antelope Hunt our group harvested 13 and the average shot was just under 300 yards. My experience with Deer Whitetail and Mule Deer is they have been bagged at less distance. What have I noticed is to many people are ranging and dialing when I could have had it on the ground 10 seconds ago or more, with sometimes them not getting a shot off because of there monkeying around, with range finder and dial and the game left the area ! Do I have scopes I can dial with Yes but I feel it has more value on Prairie Dogs than I do big game. Yes I have a scope with Zero Stop on that .264 Win Mag but I very rarely need it, and have a Custom dial set up for up to 750 yards if needed.

just got the diamondback tactical does it have zero stop feature?
@ce-brasilshooter8295
@ce-brasilshooter8295 Год назад
hello friends, my name is Aluísio. I am from Brazil. Congratulations on this moment. A really incredible meeting on the topic 0 stop. Ask me a question, please, does the Zero stop feature just limit the number of revolutions of the Turret blocking its passage at a certain point in the course or does it reposition the revolutions of the Turret? To better explain my doubt I will cite an example: Imagine that I have a scope whose verticality tower has a total of 10 revolutions and I want to zero my shooting platform at 100 yards. Imagine then that I zero it at 100 yards and I realize that to zero yards like that I needed to make six revolutions in the tower. Once that is done I then use the zero stop feature of the scope. By making use of the zero stop feature does this mean that from my zero mark onwards I will only have four revolutions of freedom to work with? or does it actually mean that my 10 revolutions have been preserved (repositioned on the internal gear of the scope) so that I have them free to work with? or even: the answer to this question is "it depends on the sophistication of the zero stop system you have"? I thank you in advance for the answer and I am very anxiously waiting for it. Thank you very much.

Can I put zero stop shims on a DB Tactical scope?

I do wish that the razor HD had the ability to not have over travel when returning to zero. This over travel can make a challenging on occasion especially in night situations when returning to zero. I also have the PST gen II and I prefer how it returns to zero. To me, the overtravel makes little sense.

Soooooo why do zero stop exist? Well over time we realized , we've made hunting and competitions completely effortless, so like everything else in life we thought let's create some confusing problems for ourselves. Here we made something that makes your weapon super sensitive. So now a bunch of dudes that just sit in a nest can cry like their wives when they break a nail. " hey man where's my spacer"

I think it should be industry-standard for scopes to come with either a zero-stop or, at a minimum, a rotation-counter, even if the turrets can't lock. That's one of things I look at when buying a scope (but not LPVO's) amongst other things like reticle design and image quality.

Looking up the specs , you should have up to 75-80 MOA max, depending on which model you have. My guess is you are using a zero MOA mount. Get a 20 or 30 MOA mount, depending on what you trying to do.
@Longshothawk
@Longshothawk 2 года назад
Moa turrets should be 20 or 30 moa per revolution. The 25 just takes too much time to figure out what your stopping on if you need say 33 moa. If that's not possible then the second row of numbers from 25-50 on the razor line would be a huge help. The pst gen 2 has that, I don't understand why the razor doesn't.
