10mm to 11mm VW TDI fuel injection pump swap - Bosch "VE" upgrade on 1.9 ALH Diesel Jetta Golf Bora!

In this detailed video I remove the 10 millimetre Bosch Rotary VE Injection Pump and replace it with an 11 millimetre pump from an Automatic transmission car. The same process can be used on VW Jetta Bora Golf and other ALH cars like Skoda from 1998 through 2003 or so.
This is part of a series of performance upgrades I plan for the 2003 Volkswagen Jetta (Bora) TDI. The 11mm pump will provide the required increased fuel flow.
This 11mm pump sat in the garage for 5 years and was all gunked up with diesel fuel. Will it come back to life!?
Stay tuned for more videos! Injector nozzles, Bigger turbo, tune, EGR, 3-bar MAP sensor, and so on!
* DISCLAIMER * DO this work at your own risk. You may learn how to change a TDI injection pump from 10mm to 11mm but I do not recommend you try it and do not take any responsibility for your actions. This video is for demonstration purposes only. ENJOY!
414 in the part number is 11mm pump
404 in the part number is 10mm pump

I have an ALH with a leak at the lower seal of the injection pump. I don't have the tools to dial in the QA after opening that thing up to change the seal, so I was looking for other options. I was going to inquire about maybe purchasing your old 10mm pump as a replacement, but I now see that I would need to dial in the timing anyway & that also requires tools that I don't have, namely the computer software & connection. I guess that I'll scratch my head a little longer. Nice job by the way. The video was very informative & you have very good work habits.

To be fair, you dont HAVE to do an 11mm, you can get by just fine with a 10mm pump and change the fuel settings in VCDS. You can also rebuild a 10mm and make it an 11mm.. Not only does it give more fuel, its under higher pressure and offers better atomization. Without doing injectors and bigger turbo and a proper tune, you are wasting your money

@@gregs_garage I replaced it and it fired up, however, it takes a few seconds. Also the engine is making quite a racket as if due to fuel starvation. The acceleration at standstil is also kinda erratic. I'm beginning to suspect that the old pump may have not been at fault, or probably the issue is multifaceted. The main reason for replacing it is that there was a fuel leak but since service kits are nowhere to be found here in Bulgaria for these pumps, I resorted to sourcing a used replacement for like £28...

@jvinsnes
@jvinsnes Год назад
It gives better fuel economy while idle. Thats it. The soot and carbon buildup in your intake is bad for the engine. When particles and flakes loosen they go through your combustion chamber and result in excessive wear on your valves, rings and sylinder walls. Better block it. Remember to completely clean your intake in the process to prevent this from happining

My TDI 2000 Jetta. Was overheating, and somehow a lot of pressure and the cooling lines. I have the motor all apart, and I can’t find anything wrong. I’m redoing the timing belt water pump. And I have a lot of extra parts from two other cars. I am changing the head just in case it was the head. I’m doing new head gasket to hopefully that will solve the problem.
