So, since you weren't able to go over them, I'd like to talk about 4WD SCT and 4WD 1/10th truggy, as well as 1/10th scale nitro truck since that's actually starting to regain a bit of a cult following. 4WD SCT... honestly barely even qualifies as a 1/10th scale class. These trucks are basically 1/8th scale E-buggies with SCT bodies on them, with two exceptions. They use 1/10th scale running gear for the most part, particularly 550-sized motors and 2S batteries, but then they also often use 1/8th scale ESCs to deal with the heavier load on the powertrain. They also use SCT wheels and tires rather than 1/8th scale buggy setups, apart from the occasional "cheater" build that sometimes shows up at club races from time to time. The two exceptions to the "1/8th scale buggy with an SCT body on it" are the Traxxas Slash 4x4 (which is actually surprisingly competitive, or at least the LCG version is) and the Associated Pro4 SC10, as the former is a unique design that debuted as a 4WD SCT and the latter is a Rival MT10 with a stretched chassis. 4WD SCTs almost exclusively run on 1/8th scale tracks due to their similarities with 1/8th scale buggies, and that generally means dirt, which is why even "entry level" trucks can be somewhat competitive in this class. I've also never seen a stock class for these, in part due to the fact that a stock class would have to account for both the 540-sized motors run by lighter, purpose-built trucks AND 550-sized motors ran by heavier, 1/8th scale buggy based trucks. However, ROAR has rules for a stock class specifying 10.5T motors. 4WD 1/10th Truggy - I have very little experience actually running this class, having only recently picked up a Hyper TT10e roller. It seems to me like this class's popularity tends to fluctuate between modest turnout and nonexistent, and it's a crapshoot whether a track will even run this class. Handling-wise, these are basically easier to drive 1/10th scale 4WD buggies, or at least the Hyper TT10e is because I can't find much information about the track performance of any of these things due to the obscurity of the class and I can only go by what I know of the truck I have. Does anyone else have any input on these? Anyway, cost-wise... well, mod-class seems to be the name of the game with them so at least optimizing the drivetrain isn't a priority, but the more up-to-date kits are about twice the cost of a 2WD buggy kit. You CAN "cheap out" and get a Hyper TT10e like I did but that'll primarily only be competitive on dirt, on sealed clay and carpet it'll be at a disadvantage since it's built more like a 1/8th scale buggy rather than a 1/10th scale carpet car. 1/10th scale nitro truck. Ah, the nostalgia. This was my starter class, although I quickly bumped up to 1/8th buggy. Anyway, most of what's been said about the electric STs also applies here, however there's a couple intricacies due to being a nitro class that don't exist with the electric STs. First off, this is the smallest off-road class where pit strategies come into play, as they run anywhere from 20 to 60 minute mains but you only get around 5-7 minutes per tank of fuel. Also, due to the fact that nitro engines take time to spool up, they have smoother power delivery than their electric counterparts at the expense of not having instant torque. Engine displacement limit is typically .15 but personally I've found that .12s are better, due to the fact that the .15s cause a LOT of wheelspin. Now, vehicle options for this class are almost non-existent if you just look at purpose-built vehicles - your options are the Traxxas Nitro Rustler and Traxxas Jato 3.3 (you will need to do some modifications and an engine swap to make this legal for the class), of which only the latter is actually even worth looking at. But there's a company called Ignite Design that makes conversion kits for the Associated T6.4 and XRAY XT2. That being said they are EXTREMELY expensive and the base kits aren't really that suitable for the types of tracks this class runs on.

I'm grateful that I was a beginner and I started on 4wd 13.5 buggy. Now I'm upgrading to mod buggy after 6 months of racing.. Nobody can get me to drive a 2wd buggy lol, even though it would have made me a better driver. I just don't like it. 4wd buddy everyday. In addition, I was so waiting for a new video roach. Thanks buddy, your content helps alot of up coming racers out.

i can tell you one thing for sure, if yo wanna podium in 17.5 2wd buggy you better be a consistant driver and know setup, it's a hyper competitive class and cost to be on pace is higher than mod class. i have been at this game for like 36 years and stadium trucks are about the most fun on the track i have ever had, still my favorite class by far!

The whole cost issue is why stock classes should go the way of the dodo, or alternatively be changed to kit spec + track-supplied motor. In mod, at least you can get so much power that reducing rolling resistance by swapping in expensive hop-up parts becomes unnecessary.

"Chances are if you're starting out you're not going to run mod" Chances are if you're starting out you're probably not going to want to shell out the cash necessary to run stock. A lower-powered mod setup in "pro lite" config is going to be a lot better on your wallet than a stock setup.

0:22 - gah, that track... looks cool to watch, but damn, seems less like a track and more like a Trackmania trial course.

Thanks for the compare and contrast buggy Vs stadium truck. More stable and less set up tinkering sounds good.

Cool, thanks. I have had rc cars for years but never in sanctioned race. I had no idea. It seems that I am still at beginner lol. My friends and I have a short track that’s fun. I’m faster on 2s than 3s. Took a min to figure that out but want you said makes sense since I had that experience.

Do you guys have multiple diffs and shocks with different oils for easy tuning at the track or do people drain and fill diffs and shocks at the track? I'm have an lc racing 1/14 and the thing is a unit but they don't race 1/14 near me so I'm kind of feeling the lc10b5 although you don't see many out there.

We usually just drain it. No need to spend dummy money on multiple shocks and diffs
