Join me as I unbox, assemble, and tryout the AgriFab 48" pull behind plug aerator for the first time. Unexpectedly, an issue showed itself at the very end.
Have learned more since and will have a quick update video ready for you shortly.

Turn you blocks sideway 8x16 than your bungie cords will work correctly. Another tip don't make sharp turns it'll put a lot of side pressure on the tines thats why they broke the welds. Hope this helps. 🇺🇸👍

The tine penetration into the soil is poor for this unit (maybe an inch at best). I would also recommend removing the wheels/tires to see if you can get better soil penetration. Also, don't back up with this aerator attached to the tractor, it will bend the stamped tongue right in half... it happened to me twice with my home unit.

Thanks for watching and the position feedback. Remember gloves when handling the tines. :)

I ended up getting a Yardworks from Menards. Set up was easy, a few hours and no cuts, but the aerator is solid and well built. You should check it out.

Mine broke both double spools on the first use. The welds are only half way around on one side if they welded all the way around this not would be a non issue. They sent new parts promptly but who needs it to break in the first place? I'm having a friend weld them properly for perm fix. Other then that seems like a solid build.

Wow. Sounds like I'm not the only one. Your the second person today to tell me this. It's concerning that this definitely isn't an isolated incident. Thanks for letting me know. I'll definitely mention this in my next update. Thanks for your comments and for watching. Much appreciated.

I suggest you try to rotate the blocks 90 degrees. Hopefully they still fit and there will be double cords on each block

The extra nuts is to double up the outer bolts to protect you from scratches.

I had the bolts and nuts leftover... thanks for this, I was wondering where they went. I saw them on the instructions' illustration, but didn't know what they were for!

Turn the blocks the other way lol will they fit like that. And make a 2x4 frame and pour concrete with rope holder to lift it up and down..

Yeah. As you saw, I had a couple bolts left over for which there are no holes. Hope this video helped. Thanks for watching.

Those plastic wheels are not adequate, I bought two 10 inch pneumatic wheels with steel rims from Harbor Freight, Idem #: 30900 and the axel shafts fit fine. One inch bigger in diameter wheels makes no difference. I paid for $6.99 ea. Big improvement.

The last part is concerning. I watched this video specifically as a review to purchase so now I'm questioning buying this one ;)

Thanks for your comment and for reminding me to reach out to manufacturer about replacement part. Overall this seems like a nice rig, and I'm hoping this was a fluke. I felt I owed it to folks to be honest in the video about what happened, as I make these to help people; i don't make a dime from anyone for these videos. I'm just glad AgriFab is a reputable company and have a 3yr warranty on this unit. I'll post here again once I get this resolved. Thanks for watching.

@@twc-projects I appreciate it, and I look forward to what happens. I got the green light from my spousal unit to purchase one so I might just take the chance.

Sounds good. I've heard from a landscaper that he loves his; and he uses this thing a lot more than I ever will. So hopefully you won't have any problems. Good luck and check back in at some point to let me know how it works out. Thanks again for watching and commenting.

Great video. Looking to purchase this soon. Certainly concerning about the bad welding. How difficult/time consuming is it to remove and dismantle the axle to put the new part on?
@twc-projects
@twc-projects 3 года назад
I don't think it will be too bad. Looks like a couple bolts that connect end support, a bolt on the shaft, and then slide off section that has broken weld. I still haven't done it yet, but expect the manufacturer will replace the specific part that is broken, so will need to also remove the tines connected--4 more bolts. I expect it'll take about 30 mins in all to replace broken part with new. I'll let you know for sure when I get around to this before I need it again in a few months. Thanks for watching and for your comments.

Thanks for the great video. What is the dimension of the concrete blocks? What is length of the bungee cords? Thanks!!!
@twc-projects
@twc-projects 2 года назад
Thanks. The bungies are 18" I believe, and the blocks are just the standard large, hollow foundation blocks. I haven't gotten a chance to actually measure them yet, but I'll try to remember to grap a tape and do that the next time I'm headed out to barn. Thanks again for your comments and for watching.

missing parts, left over parts, really poor QC and PR work from them. Not doing me any favors for sending out missing parts, just delaying customers due to piss poor QC

Hi Mate, did you note some difference in the law after apply the aerator?
@twc-projects
@twc-projects Год назад
I can't say with total certainty that aerating makes the lawn better, as grass tents to get thicker and thicker whether you aerate or not. But, supposedly it's good and helps for a lot of reasons. So I keep doing it.. If that's what you meant by your question. Thanks for your comments and for watching.

I haven't contacted them yet, but two other folks just told me they had the exact same issue and Agri Fab did send them replacements right away. I plan to get this done this week and will post an update accordingly. Thanks for your comments.

I can't remember exactly how fast I was going, as this was years ago, but I speed up the frame rate of most of these videos so it looks a lot faster than it was. I'm pretty sure I was between 5-8mph, which is the max speed of my zero turn mower. I've put out more videos on this since then, if you want to see more and see what others have said. Thanks for your comments and for watching.
