Hey man- great video. I’ve used my old agrifab aerator for 7-8 years and it does a great job opening up the lawn. I don’t really over seed anymore because the lawn seems to take off on its own and grow in nicely during the season. During one winter I got stir crazy and made 2 forms and poured 2 60lbs bags into each form. Rigged bar and handles for easy loading and even rounded the edges for a clean look. It was beautiful. A real work of art. Only to then realize that the 240lbs worth of weight I made is 100lbs over the max payload of the poor thing. So a little cussing and stomping fits later, I filled the original cinder blocks with extra mud and now use them as weights as I did before I started the wild ride. The wonderful forms now hold down my wife’s yard art from blowing over in the wind. They mock me every time I walk by.
Very well done video. I purchased a used older all black Agri-Fab Aerator 45-0299 at an auction for $25 - what a steal!! Mine does have tires that you have to air up. I note that there is a video by Agri-Fab that shows how to adjust so that the release handle will stay in that notch. I pull my Aerator with a Toro Z-Turn mower - can't reach the handle though. BTW, I like the way you have your hitch - either ball or pin attachment. I have to remove my 2" hitch to use my Aerator.
Thanks for the comment. That hitch assembly is useful. I bought it so i could use the ball to move my boat around more easily. I'll check out that video. The handle stays put except ehen im tryying to put it away by hand and then it jumps out at the most inopportune time.
Thank you. I thought about cutting a deeper notch into the bed so it can't jump out as easily when hitting a bump. Essentially that's the only time it pops out.
Great video. I have a question for you Have you had any trouble with the Agri-Fab pull behind aerator, also do you use the agri fab pull behind spreader if yes how do you like it? Thanks
I have not had any significant issues besides mot havijg enough power in the tractor to back up occasionally. But less weight on the aerwtor would also help that. I do use rhe pull behind spreader andlike it alot. I did a review on it as well. Just be careful when assembling it. If you use the wrong holes abd then pull the lever for the trap door you will break it.
I've owned 2 of these aerators. The first was warranty replaced and Agrifab and worth mentioning they handle warranty claims with integrity. That being said this product isn't very good. The handle that engages the transport wheels easily pops out causing the tines to lower and hit a sidewalk, road, etc. The tines are extremely cheap and easily damaged. It rarely pulls plugs or achieves a 3" plug. The tines often drag the ground in transport mode due several design factors such as axle deflection, wheel diameter, lift height.
Glad they replaced it for you. I agree about the handle. Thats why i modified it with a chain. Other than that i don't really have any problems with it. I definitely dont think it was designed to withstand sidewalks or tree stumps so any dulling of the tines from that i think most would consider abuse.
I got same aerator but my e120 was really struggling with it , long story short I end up getting JD x545 with drive shaft and stuff to handle this aerator properly
I agree. My l120 and lt190 will pull it as long as i dont load it down on moist ground. but the 318 i got last spring drives like it isnt even back there. Even if i have it loaded fown with 4 or 5 cinder blocks making it dig deep into the ground. Big difference.
