For me.. Going 2nd hand/used - Kawasaki W650 or W800.. And New - Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 (MANY tuning/performance & styling kits available)... 🤔👌 😎🇬🇧
Well they make quality bike that I can assure you. Milage, longevity , speed you'll get everything for a medium price. The bikes are reliable & fuel efficient. But I can't give any guarantee about Indian cars 😅 .
The British, Italians and Japanese did more for motorcycle design and racing than any other country in the world! Yes, this includes the United States. I too am thoroughly disgusted with the British and Italians for selling out for the almighty Euro/Pound!
It's interesting how most of you guys are sidestepping reliable Japanese manufacturers, instead of talking about the xsr, z900rs or the katana, most reviewers just sing praises about some of the most unreliable machines around
Agreed. That is the bike I bought in March and I couldn’t be more happy with my purchase. The Stone give you LED lighting, a digital dash and a murdered out look. It defines modern retro to me.
Def agree that Bonneville is the standard but nice to see some unique iterations of “retro”. The Fantic looked great and with a CP2 engine will be a blast too. XSR just looks blah but again does have that great CP2 which I have on my Tenere. Ducati looks too “plastic pretty” for me and having owned a Ducati I’d hate the repairs. MV consistently designs some of the best looking bikes so would be excited to see their concept. I really like the Honda CB1000R (not in your list) maybe not so retro but I’m amazed Honda thought that far outside the box. Nice to see their are great options at every price. Any bike that gets rode is a beautiful bike.
Wait... what? Moto Guzzi V7 not in the list?!? Respectfully ask to please explain this omission. Otherwise enjoyed the vid and learning about some of the lesser familiar / resurrected brand bikes. Cheers!
Nice vid & list of bikes, some real beauties. Although dare I say I think you may have missed one (you may disagree of course) with the latest Moto Guzzi V7 Special Edition at a decent £9,050. Looks great, not too expensive & s noticeable step up on the base version.
Thank you for your helpful video. The neo retro motorcycles are magnificient. From the style, of charm and elegance. The manufacturer THRIUMPH stands out, its motorcycles are of an irreprochable finish and are timeless. THRIUMPH is my favorite motorcycle brand for the retro and neo retro style : Speed Twin, The T100 or T120, including the Rocket 3R/GT. Having a neo retro motorcycle means riding differently with elegance. This style of motorcycle is ideal for senior bikers like me 😁? I wish you a pleasant end of year celebrations as well as to all bikers ✌
Any particular reason the Kawasaki W800 hardly ever shows up on the retro bike reviews? I don’t own one, but from the pictures of it, it is a fine looking retro bike.
Just agreed to trade my BMW F800GT for an XSR900, 2019, with a Velocity Moto 900LC kit fitted - looks like an RD350LC from back in the day but with modern performance, 115BHP and 195Kg, can't wait.
For me.. Going 2nd hand/used - Kawasaki W650 or W800.. And New - Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 (MANY tuning/performance & styling kits available)... 🤔👌 😎🇬🇧
Typical British review... "The Ducati is cool and all, it's lighter and they updated it with more modes and a better screen, but kinda expensive at 10K, BUT WAIT, If you pay 4,400 more you can get a TRIUMPH that isn't updated at all for 2023 wooowoowowwoooow." 🤮 You realize you sound ridiculous right?
if it's a quality chrome job, and there's no reason to think it wouldn't be, I'd imagine just a few minutes with a Cape Cod polishing cloth would get it looking good as new
Have to disagree on the Royal Enfield put in 10 hours of time on one and thought I made a huge mistake getting a motorcycle. After my first ride on a Moto Guzzi V7 I dumped the Enfield and started having a great time riding.
The Thruxton RS, Norton 961 Commando, and MV Augusta 921S are beautiful. I already have the Thruxton R, the MV will most likely be out of my budget and the Norton 961 is a bike to consider but waiting for a year or so for the dealerships to arrive and the reliability to be established will probably have me moving on to another brand.
@@Spartansrule118 I have to say it is very reliable. I did a video explaining what all I have done with the bike besides normal riding without failures. Only one issue covered by warranty with wiring.
@@stewy62 you’re right but the fork slider position is not nearly as visible as that giant gap between the sub frame and rear wheel. IMO “retro” appears old tech but works like new tech. I ride a new Indian super chief that looks old school but has ride modes, cruise control and ABS.
You just can't get real old school cool, unless you buy old school. The retro look might be OK for your daily driver, but it definitely won't be old school cool. Nobody can ever be happy with just one motorcycle in the shed!
Great review. Really liked the Thruxton and the Commando. The MV Augusta looks amazing ! Probably would like to have seen the Moto Guzzi Stone Special edition added to the list. ⭐️🇦🇺
Has the new Ducati Scrambler improved in terms of heat release from its engine? Is it still unbearable during warm days in traffic stops? Input from anyone that has had a chance of riding it is welcome.
that chrome gas tank would absolutely blind me in the the Florida sun...I bet any daytime riding anywhere would cause the same problem...looks amazing though
I've always liked a little bit of chrome as an accent on bikes but a full chrome tank always looked like you're riding around with a mirror on your stuff.
It's frustrating that many of these beautiful bikes will not be available in the USA/California. As for me, an older rider that loves the inline fours of the 70's and 80's, I find myself wishing that Honda would bring back a modern version of the CB750. I'm not holding my breath however, so I will probably end up trading in the Suzuki C50 for the Triumph Bonneville T100.
Well, check out the Royal Enfield Classic 350. A bunch of us bought them (in LA) and love them! No racers, but damn fun, simple and cheap. Give one a shot... Ride Safe 🙏🏼
@@scottboettcher I’ve looked at them online, and on RU-vid, beautiful bikes. I really like the Interceptor 650, but the nearest dealer is nearly a hundred miles from me.
@@kennethfoley3536 Well, it's a good excuse for a road trip! I think it's worth it. These bikes are of very high quality. and as I and others state over and over, the smiles per mile are off the chart. Add ons are inexpensive and fun to install. I think it is calling for you! Ride Safe 🙏🏼
Yet not a single effin bike has clip-on handlebars (and no, woodcraft clip-ons does not count). Maybe some day one of these big 4 japanese companies can pull their heads out of their rear end and make a full sport naked with a v4, crossplane inline 4 or cp3 engine that has high end kyb or ohlins suspension. Otherwise, if yamaha doesnt come out with the r9 so i could get rid of its front fairing, im just gonna buy a mt09sp and put a r1 front end on it and throw a classic modern retro headlamp. You either get a sports bike, naked bike with handlebars 10 metres tall or have to fork over AT minimum 25,000 pounds for a beautiful looking bike that probably doesnt have the best of reliability
I have to point your exclusion of the Benelli Leoncino 800 😮. Well if that bike does not have enough character for being mentioned in your videos …… check it out mate
Um, yeaaah.. Think I'll stick to my good old, modified, air-cooled, 1999 carbureted Bandit 1200. With good aftermarket suspension.. a JE big piston kit (1216cc).. a little headwork and some goodies... it outperforms MOST of these $$$$$$$$$$$ bikes, and fits me like a glove. It does everything from Trackdays to Touring, mine is PAID FOR, and with over 165,000 (rebuilt) miles, I'll save my money. Happily.
i actually want the old school look (80s & 90s) and the old school performance (80s & 90s) which is missing in the current line up of smaller capacity bikes. Those days a 250 2-stroke will churn out 45-50 hp (used to ride a suzuki RG250 in the 80s) but the 250 i am riding now only spits out 18.5 hp. I also rode a 90's 4-stroke kawasaki 500 producinng 70 hp but the most of the 500 nowadays produce less than 50hp (due to green scam agenda). The styling of modern bikes looks more like transformers robots to me and retro styling is the way to go, for me. I actually think the small capacity (500cc and below) motorcycling world has gone backwards in the 21st century. It was so much more exciting 20-30 years ago compared to now. i don't fancy high capacity bikes as the taxes & insurance is crazy where i live, that plus a lack of big open roads and the heavy weight of big capacity bikes makes it a deterrent for me.
As a proud owner of Kawasaki W650 I would expect Kawa W800 in list....And I like honest approach, so if I would buy Indian bike, I would buy RE (I had Bulled 500 before), not new BSA, If I would buy bike from China, I will get CF moto, not Moto Morini. This labeling of asia production by names of old Europe producers names make me sick...I am from CZ and yes, they sell now few models of Jawa from China and another models of Jawa from India 🤮
In my country..we a small size retro bike...XSR 155 with dimension similiar with RE Hunter 350...smaller engine, lightweight (only 134 kg) and....more agile, more fun, more fast acceleration, more top speed and more fuel efficien if compare with RE Hunter 350...u can imagine with different till 200 cc..
Good mate has one of those "old" "new " Nortons.........the best break down story and missed opportunity he had was when a fuel line came off and sprayed the bike in fuel.Being a non smoker he didnt have any matches . What saved the Norton as well was that he was soaked in fuel too.........
