It's the same as if a ball hits the top of the wall and bounces over and there have been plenty of those through the years. Pretty much no one would argue it's a home run in that scenario, so this is similar: hits in play and bounces out of the park without ever touching the ground.

I watched baseball a lot when I was a kid but I kinda stopped during my teenage years. I'm 30 now and have been watching again for the past couple years ever since the Brewers started doing well again because I live in Milwaukee and I gotta say, baseball is without a doubt the single STRANGEST sport ever when it comes to sportsmanship and etiquette, as well as this unwritten rule book full of odd things that teams and players are expected to follow despite the fact that it often times goes against the general rules of ALL sports in general which is play hard until the whistle blows or until the game is over and follow the rules of the game and have as much fun as you can while playing. Then baseball cones along and is like, "yeah but only sometimes and definitely not during this long list of situations and circumstances when you're supposed to play the game in a totally different manner. Its just so weird when you compare it to pretty much any other sport.

I had all but stopped watching a sport that I absolutely love out of disgust by players using politics and BS instead of just playing the game. Since I found the JOMBOY channel, it has renewed my love of the game and I've watched more baseball in the past few months, than I have in years. Loving the channel Jimmy. I get that it's been a Fenway rule for decades probably but I think it would be more original if that was a ground rule double instead. Kinda makes better sense too in a weird way

The park design with tall walls should have a homerun line on them. 40ft walls should never be able to stop a homerun. It almost got to the point where some teams would not play at those types of parks and drove attendance down.
