FoxFordCatGuy Sad all around, but we have to keep this sport alive. Take someone new to a dragstrip. Corrupt them with the sights & sounds. Let a kid help work on your car. Teach them about tools & how things work. Teach them to think, problem solve & persevere. Cars & drag racing will prepare you for life

Yeah, I always had my nieces and nephews and then my own kids at the track with me. Trying to get my son into helping me with our '83 Capri build now. Some days he's into it (even acted like he wanted to film it, too), some days all he cares about is his PS4 (should have never bought him it). He helped me convert our '68 coupe to dual exhaust, headers and all. He'll be 17 in Jan. so hoping the idea of actually driving will help motivate him. I've always dreamed of the day we could line up against each other at the track. I'll be proud as hell when he beats me-won't make him let me win like WJ and KJ, lol.

Some kids show no interest in driving when all we wanted was the freedom it afforded. I still trust that acceleration can overcome the modern penchant to remain still

UNCLE BUZZ One of the last passes I ever made at Englishtown. Cell phone video is a great way to analyze your car. Listening to this confirmed my suspicion the car wasn’t accelerating quickly enough (shift points were too late relative to track position). Put a 2” shorter tire on it to effectively give it more rear gear. Car picked up .2 & 2 mph

She runs even faster than she did for the last guy. You most have drilled her good everywhere and left them holes with a gape when you were done. Just remember its amazing what a good head job will do for you...

Sounds like that's not at all what happened. It looks like the E-town owners decided they could make more money renting the track for storage than they could with racing, so they closed it. The rest of the racing on the property will continue on, just no more drag racing.

@@TheBrokenLife Yeah that happen when Sandy hit and there was no place to store all the vehicles that were under water. Tow truck after tow truck went to RPark and as the cars were processed out of IAA more were brought into IAA from nearby storage at RPark. Good call shedding more light on the subject. Stored items don't make noise but do put money in the owners pockets. Shame though. It was fun while it lasted. Bring back the Marshall Tucker Band RP so we can just sit on the porch and just listen.

@@mostlymoparih5682 Well, the good news is that since it wasn't a noise problem, they could bring the track back whenever they wanted... So, there's always hope!

4.56. Stock 301.5” hydraulic roller short block, mild crane cam, TFS heads, Vic Jr. Ran 11.62/114 with high 1.50 60’ 5000 Launch, 6200 Shift AND it did it while floating the valves at 6900 with the shorter tire (was just a test). Also, rear lower control arm bushings were TOAST. Should have run at least a 1.55 60’. Car will be back out soon, fresh parts, new stuff to test. Full reports right here
