Done everything to remove weight from your car? Maybe not! There are hidden areas where you can remove unnecessary metal to further reduce the weight of any car.
Yes, It’s aggressive, but it’s Free ET!
Maybe all those Civic & JDM guys are onto something after all? We’ve seen Speed Holes on everything from modern JDM cars (think Civic bumper), to hot rods of the last century to Swiss Cheese Pontiac race cars, to even a lightened Harley Sportster headlight.
They definitely make the car go faster. We do understand if you don’t want to use them on your bumper though. Our approach is certainly more stealth.
Hey, if it can work for Homer on The Simpsons, it can work for you

I forgot to mention two things: 1) The step drills with ends cut off are for making larger diameter holes in shallow areas like the inside corner brace where you could otherwise easily drill through the outer skin of the fender 2) Obviously Mitch installed the guard onto the angle grinder before doing any work. That tool list was done tongue in cheek before we decided to use it. Hope that satisfies Smooth Rider, Uncle Tony & anyone else who expressed valid safety concerns Now get to making chips & dust finding yourself some Free ET

It all adds up, that Mustangs time slips proves it, for no more than has been done to the engine. There's people with three times the money he has in that engine, not running as fast as he is. To me that's where the fun is taking less and making more.
@stickmansgarage9452
@stickmansgarage9452 5 лет назад
Absolutely! Doing more with less is what motivates us to mess with our cars. And we want to hear from the viewers on how they run fast, with less. OR, what their dream budget combo would be, and how fast they believe they could make it run. How about you John, what’s your dream budget combo and/or what do you drive now?

Are you going to lighten your fenders after watching this video. Or possibly your inner fenders or other areas on your car? Tell us about it here in the comments. Don’t forget, if you start with heavier panels the weight reduction is even greater. I wonder how much you could get out of a fender from the ‘60s or ‘70s and still not be able to see it... Somebody try it! And report back here. If you shoot video, maybe we can include it in a future installment of Worth The Weight
@foxfordcatguy2283

I've never drilled out fenders but I have drilled out Fox fog light bars in the past. I've also replaced the '79-'86 steel front bumper in my '85 (and planning to on my '83 Capri) with the plastic '87-'93 bumper. Had to trim it some and cut holes to mount the marker lights, but dropped alot of weight. I know some people remove it completely, I just prefer having something there, especially on the street. Even before I found your vids, I've been thinking about (but don't if it's worth it) drillng out the REAR bumpers.
@stickmansgarage9452
@stickmansgarage9452 5 лет назад
FoxFordCatGuy I never recommend removing weight from the rear of any street/strip car - especially a light assed Fox platform car - because most cars are so nose heavy from the factory and need all the weight transfer they can get. Typically, any weight we can remove from the nose I add to the rear. That increase in rear weight aids traction & improves ET more than just reducing overall weight by pulling it off the nose. Just curious, are you a Cat lover (pets) or into heavy equipment?

The k member is getting a spacer and a spacer on the strut and stock new gt springs. The car already sat really low in the back and a little high in the front. But, I'm guessing it'll be raised about 2-3 inches in the front.

I’m sure this is waay out of left field: Have you or anyone you knew lightened up a stock K member? Would it be too dangerous? Or maybe just a big waste of time?
@stickmansgarage9452
@stickmansgarage9452 5 лет назад
Ray Stang I haven’t personally. Done carefully you could certainly lighten a factory K member. There is a lot of material there, so the savings would be worth it. If a tubular K can withstand street use, a lightened stock unit should as well. Just don’t overdo it. Especially if the car is over 3200 lbs and/or it sees harsh street use

How much does this car weigh?
@stickmansgarage9452
@stickmansgarage9452 5 лет назад
Sikulz 9550 Prior to the current weight reduction plan for the nose of the car, it typically tickled 3000 lbs w/driver in race trim (low fuel level, otherwise as pictured in the Meet Agent AOD video). The goal now is to lighten the nose so the car can have even better balance at 3000 pounds. Before the car didn’t transfer weight well on launch until we moved some weight to the rear. Now the 60’ times are not only better, but more consistent. And the car is quicker overall just from shifting weight rearward. We’ll talk more about that in other videos
