I charge my Ioniq6 at 60% amperage for level2 (at home) because I heard about the overheating of the battery on Ioniq5. I also keep the battery at over 20% charge (at home) like you said to help preserve the 12V. All good since January 2024.

Another informative video. Good luck with all your upcoming life changes. FYI - I almost always charge my 2022 Ioniq 5 SE at home but noticed Tesla had superchargers near me with Magic Docks. Thought I’d give it a try there. Everything went smoothly with charging and the Tesla app.

Good luck and thank you for all you doing for the EV (and especially Ioniq) community! Your channel has been my primary "go to" source of information since I bought my Ioniq 5 back in March of '24. Not to mention array of accessories I purchased from you that made my Ioniq 5 experience so much better. Would love to meet up when you move to Boston. I remember when I used to have Porsche 928S4 there was an awesome 928 owners club and we would do meets in mid-Mass to share experience, tech tips, show off our cars, etc.

One thing I’d buy for my IONIQ 5 sel is a front floor bin for storage. I see something similar on Amazon but it has a partition. If you made a bin without a partition we could use it for bags or purses similar to what the ev6 has. Since the genesis gv60 has less storage than the Ioniq 5 a similar floor storage bin would probably be desired by those owners

Hey Corbin, great comprehensive update! For your question, I do think that focusing on quality videos, as long as they don’t severely detract from your upload schedule, is a good idea! I actually have an interesting idea to pitch you. I’m in the Boston area until mid-August and I own an Ioniq 6. I’ve been hoping to replace the silver hyundai badges with black hyundai or even H morse code logos, but exact fits for the Ioniq 6 are seemingly not sold at all in the US. Do you think badges are a potential 3D printable product? If so I’d be happy to let you use my car as a test dummy for replacing badges since yours is a lease. I could pay for the material we use as well, and you could potentially add custom badges to the items you sell. As you said clearly in your video you have a ton going on, so if we couldn’t work something out for that reason alone it’s a shame but understandable. Let me know what you think!

Take your time, I will be waiting for fresh videos once they are ready. Good luck with wedding planning, it’s what I do for a living (wedding photographer) so I know how involved it is. On the car side, my IONIQ 5 Level 2 charging derated for the first time just this morning. It has been in the high 90’s for a solid week now. I hope when the temps fall again, my 11kw charging will come back. Future video: Perhaps a Model Y (an IONIQ 5 competitor, makes sense to review) can be secured via Turo.

You should go over what settings you use with SunnyPilot on the Comma 3x when you do your long-term review. Very few Comma Ai reviewers report what settings work best for them. It would be interesting to see how you have it tuned for the Ioniq 5.

@@TheIoniqGuy Yeah, the EV6 charge port doesn't lend itself to a similar design, unfortunately. I might just put electrical tape over my lights. I don't need to light up the whole campsite when I'm charging off those 50 amp RV hookups 😅

IIRC the DC to DC convertor in an EV puts out between 14 volts and 14.5 volts to charge the 12 volt battery. This is the same voltage put out by an ICE car's alternator, and should be enough to keep an AGM battery fully charged.

Thanks for your many insights on the various Kia/Hyundai recalls and updates. Especially the brake light issues and iccu. We are supposed to have another map and infotainment update in July. I wonder when the fabled supercharger access will occur. 🎉🎉 I'm a 2022 EV6 GT-line 2 owner mostly local driving and love the change in the car when sport mode is switched on🚘🚘

I'm not sure how AGM batteries need a different voltage to charge at. Heck, my 2017 Soul plus came with an AGM battery from the factory. Which also is kinda ironic that the more expensive EGMP stuff didn't come with this battery, but my $26k Soul did (Brownstone Special Edition, almost top of the line with features for that generation).

I don't get why Hyundai couldn't automatically lock the doors when you walk away from the Ioniq 5, considering they lock automatically if you walk up to the car and don't touch the door handles after they have unlocked.

Who's been misinforming him about AGM batteries? The car can charge them just fine. It seems that Hyundai themselves switched to using AGM batteries around halfway through the 2022 production year. It's just hard to tell because only the part numbers are different from the outside. 🤷
